From the very beginning, the Knight King Tomb seed strange to Kain. He, like Elara’s team, got here because of the cot that forced its way through the hill. Obviously, if the tombs were of any importance to the trial, there must be so way to get in directly.

Here he is - Leon, who revealed the secret passage.

His bright appearance and the desire to fight distracted everyone from the compass in his hand, everyone except Kain.

’Hah, just as I thought, there must be so thod.’

Then, Kain’s gaze grew colder.

’But... What is this feeling? Why is it that when I look at him, I get an eerie shiver?’

Frost as well as blood were Kain’s allies, but now the cold was running down his back. It wasn’t that Leon wore a mask, no his excitent was more than genuine.

’Just.’ Kain gulped. ’Why does he take everything so easily, like it’s a contest at a festival? I an, we’re going to kill each other.’

"Wait!" Elara waved her hand. "Guy, you don’t realize what’s going on here! That bastard is a murderer! He killed one of ours!"

Leon, like them, was from the sa world, the purple runes around him indicated it.

"And?" Leon tilted his head, not understanding what the problem was. "If he killed, then there was a reason. Humans don’t kill for no reason, that’s what monsters do."

It’s pretty reasonable for an eccentric guy.

"B-But!"

In an instant, Leon’s eyes filled with unprecedented arrogance as runes ran down his right arm.

"The four of you were going to kill one, stage nothing more than an execution, and you’re going to lecture on morality? Shut up, bitch! We all ca here ready to kill, but it seems not all of us are willing to die for our actions!"

Talking was useless.

However, the appearance of so cocky young man didn’t shatter Elara’s faith in victory much.

"Tsk. It’s your decision." Elara waved her hand.

The white-haired guy stood beside her, while the burly man with the green-haired girl found himself opposite Leon.

Kain glanced at Leon. ’Thanks to him, I have a chance. But, it’s still a tricky situation.’

Win a 4 vs. 1?

It was impossible for Kain.

But, 2 vs. 1?

Now he had a chance, but only if Leon won.

’I don’t know why, but sohow I doubt him even less than I do in myself. I’m far from the most experienced fighter.’

Whoosh.

The white-haired guy swung his hand as the energy turned into five drops.

Kain’s eyes went wide as he jumped behind the massive coffin.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

With a rumble, the drops crashed into the coffin, as small stones spattered onto Kain’s shoulders.

’Fuck! I thought she was the main problem, but these drops are like bullets!’

"Hah, I thought so, all you can do is hide!" Elara cunningly exclaid, swinging her sword.

A stream of ice ran across the ground, coming closer to Kain’s feet.

Kain did a sorsault, disappearing behind the tomb to appear on the other side. Now, he had the amulet in his hand, but he was in no hurry to activate it.

’I’ve never done this before, but it should work, right?’

His amulet - the Locked Martyr, unlike his dagger, could be activated not only by energy but also by blood. Moreover, the effect depended directly on the strength of the blood.

Kain doubted many things, but one thing he knew for sure.

Carrying the curse, his blood was definitely strong. Stronger than he would ever want it to be.

Splash.

Streams of blood gushed from his palm from the sharp blade as he clutched the amulet tightly, soaking in the blood.

Dozens of chains, wild with snapping jaws, burst from the ground, restraining Elara.

"ARGH!!!"

She tried to escape, but with every movent the chains clutched tighter, twisting her limbs at painful angles.

The chains were breaking quickly, pieces breaking off the edges.

’I don’t have much ti. Well, at least I got what I wanted.’

Kain hid behind a stone slab from another round of destructive drops. For a brief period, he turned his fight into a 1 vs. 1. He could not use the amulet again, but he had accomplished his goal - Elara was immobilized.

"Now, you!" Kain exclaid, staring at the white-haired guy.

With the force of the ring, Kain lunged forward, making the ground crackle. His legs shook trying to handle the pressure, but the result was worth it.

BUMP!

In the white-haired guy crashed not a young man, but a rhino weighing several tons. There was no other way he could describe his shock.

The impact threw the young man into the wall as his back slamd into the hard surface.

"GRH!!!!"

His painful scream echoed through the tomb, but Kain wasn’t about to stop. His eyes darted to the lid of the coffin. Even with the ring it was impossible to lift it.

’But I don’t need the whole thing!’

Gathering his hands into a fist, he broke off a jutting corner that was the size of his torso. Then, with his face red with exertion, Kain lifted the chunk as hard as he could, throwing it straight at the white-haired guy.

The young man’s eyes went wide as the shadow engulfed him.

"What the h-!"

THUMP!

The debris nailed him to the ground, raising a cloud of dust.

Elara’s pupils narrowed while her eyes poured with blood. She tried to see if the guy survived, but the debris completely covered his frail fra.

"BASTARD!"

The chains ran out of energy.

With a fiery fury, Elara broke out of her confinent, summoning her Codex.

As soon as her Order ford, an icy vortex appeared in front of her, aid directly at Kain, growing larger and larger to make a hole through him like a death drill.

Unlike her, Kain remained completely calm.

"Gha..."

Cold vapor rushed before his eyes as he tore forward, summoning a crimson cross.

’Let’s find out whose frost is stronger.’

Kain’s gaze grew darker.

’One thing I’ve already learned. The curse is a heavy burden, not just for , but for everyone that fate binds to.’
