Badak's appearance hadn't changed compared to what Charlotte rembered.
A thousand years ago it was so, and a thousand years later it remained the sa.
But when Charlotte heard how the other addressed her, she froze in place.
"Savior… huh?"
She couldn't help but look towards him.
Badak smiled naively,
"Sorry, Savior, although you've stressed many tis that calling you by your na would suffice, you are, after all, the hero who saved us, who saved the entire city-state."
"It is you who brought the power of the Transcendent; in my heart, Lord Lilith, you will always be our Savior."
Charlotte hesitated.
Although that initial address of "Savior" had made her heart skip a beat, the words that followed cald her down.
She looked at Badak with a respectful deanor and sighed,
"I'd like to go out for a walk, could you… accompany for a while?"
Badak bowed respectfully,
"I shall follow your command."
…
Charlotte left the Tower, wandering through the city streets.
The low-rise buildings were densely packed, and the bustling streets were lively.
While it wasn't as prosperous and beautiful as the New Moon Royal Capital of Lutecia that Charlotte rembered from the afterlife, compared to her last crossing, the City of Freedom now had sowhat the atmosphere of a major city.
When people saw the guards following and Badak accompanying Charlotte, they all stopped to bow.
Charlotte smiled and nodded in acknowledgnt.
Different from the account in her books, the Lilith she rembered was not one to skimp on smiles and this kind of response was always readily given.
From the gazes coming from all directions, Charlotte could feel the heartfelt respect people held for her.
As she strolled, she conversed quietly with Badak accompanying her,
"So… what you an is, I am 'Lilith,' and at the sa ti… also the 'Savior'?"
Badak didn't see anything wrong with Charlotte's words and naturally responded,
"Of course, Lord Lilith, you brought us the power of the Transcendent, giving new life to us who should have perished. To us, and to the subjects of the city-state, you will always be our 'Savior.'"
Charlotte fell silent.
She glanced at Badak and continued,
"Do you… still rember what happened the day I beca Blood… no, a mber of the favored clan?"
Badak's face showed a hint of reminiscence, his voice respectful,
"Of course, I rember. At that ti, we were on the verge of defeat in battle. It was you who sacrificed your life and, in Nirvana, awakened a new power, bringing us new hope."
"If it weren't for you, we would have probably beco re offerings to those Evil Gods by now…"
Nirvana, huh…
Charlotte was contemplative.
After thinking it through, she asked,
"Do you… still rember the na 'Cain'?"
Badak nodded and laughed,
"Of course, I rember. You an the alias you often used during your incognito visits, right?"
"I recall that when I first t you, you introduced yourself with that na. At that ti, I didn't realize that Lord Lilith was the Savior of our city-state and even made a fool of myself in front of Lord Haral."
Upon hearing Badak's words, sothing clicked in Charlotte's mind:
Haral?
So… Haral's identity hasn't been compromised?
The history concerning Haral… is still unaltered?
Is it just my and Lilith's "history" that have "fused"?
Thinking it over, she asked,
"Where is Haral now?"
"Lord Haral has gone to inspect the northern parts and probably will be away for so ti, but… he will definitely return before you start the power selection,"
Badak answered with respect.
"Power… selection?"
Charlotte was puzzled.
"Yes, aren't you planning to select excellent third-generation seeds from among our second-generation favored clan to undergo a Second Awakening? After all… compared to the imnsely powerful you, we who have been pulled back from the brink of death… our upper limits of power are just too weak."
Badak explained.
Charlotte reflected,
"Excellent third-generation seeds? Do you an those who have not been First Embraced by , but by you and others in the Bloodline?"
"Bloodline? You an the favored clan, right? It's the conclusion everyone arrived at after many attempts. Compared to us lucky ones who received power directly from you, they are uncorrupted and have more potential. If they could also receive power from you, they surely could go much further,"
Badak said.
As he spoke, it seed he recalled sothing, and he beca thoughtful,
"But Bloodline, huh… It feels… the na you've just ntioned might be more fitting for us than 'favored clan'…"
With that, he mumbled to himself,
"That's a good na, though everyone is used to calling themselves your 'favored clan.' Sohow, the term seems to fit the power we possess even better."
Charlotte: …
The na "Bloodline"… could it have originated just like that?!
At this mont, her expression was inexplicable, and such a thought popped into her mind.
…
Charlotte continued her walk, delving into deeper conversation with Badak.
Gradually, and with probing questions, she began to sketch a rough outline of the current situation.
Just as she had guessed, from Badak's mory, her identity indeed seed to have "fused" with that of Lilith. Read full story at novel⸺fire
