Kyrell felt his entire body going numb as he continued to inhale the white smoke that appeared out of nowhere. His innate powers reacted before he could and started to push out the toxic smoke from his system.
Though he was paralyzed. It was only for a few monts before he regained his composure. His raging red eyes fell on the strays stepping forward to attack the paralyzed city guards. As Lucas and Noah were leading them, the duo stood right in the front. They had no chance of defending themselves.
But before the strays could attack them, Kyrell created a barrier separating the two opposing sides. And as those stray beasts realized sothing going wrong, they glanced around until their eyes fell on him.
Kyrell clenched his fists and his crimson eyes simred in raw anger. He wanted to tear those stray beasts into pieces. And he was going to do just that until he heard feeble whimpers coming from a certain direction that he had been keeping his eyes on for a long ti. For a second, he almost lost his concentration on keeping the barrier intact when he saw his beloved.
’’Lyra?’’ Unlike everyone inside the banquet, Lyra was kneeling on the ground while clutching her throat. She seed troubled as she couldn’t breathe properly. Her face had turned pale without any color and her eyes were misty with unshed tears.
His feet moved in her direction and before he could even think, Kyrell was already holding Lyra in his arms, ’’What’s wrong.....?’’ he barely managed to form words as he tried to control his anxiousness. His hands were shivering in fear. No matter how much he pleaded, no answer ca out of her mouth because it was clear that she was suffering and couldn’t respond to him.
’’Please.....Lyra’’ Kyrell urgently called her while rubbing her back in hopes of easing her discomfort but nothing seed to work. He grew more and more desperate as ti passed and that in turn made his barrier weak each minute. He didn’t even notice until the barrier disappeared and the stray beasts started to step past it toward the still-paralyzed city guards.
But before they could attack, a black-colored smoke speedily spread all around dissolving the previous white smoke. Kyrell didn’t have ti to react before a force pushed him away from Lyra.
Whereas, Lyra had a hard ti processing everything because it was already hard for her. Due to prolonged difficulty in breathing, she felt like she was losing consciousness. Nothing seed to register in her mind until she felt a pair of warm hands encircling her waist.
And when she managed to look up, she caught beautiful athyst eyes staring back at her. They were filled with worry and anger. When she tried to focus more, Lyra realized that the one holding her was a beastman.
’’Those incompetent bastards!’’ She heard the one with lovely eyes curse but didn’t know who he was referring to. After that, she felt him picking her up in his arms as he said, ’’I forced myself to leave you with them but they don’t deserve you’’ he faintly kissed her forehead and added, ’’Don’t worry. From now on, that will not happen because you will be living with ’’
Following that everything happened in a blur for Lyra. One mont she was still in the fox tribe’s banquet but now she was in so unfamiliar place.
Kaizer laid Lyra on the grass bed that he slept on. Right now they were inside the cave in the forest near the beast city. He made sure to get into the deeper sides of the forest where no one normally ca. After making sure to create a barrier around the place, he looked down at the figure lying on the ground. She was taking in slow breaths and her condition seed better than before. As expected, taking her out of that bloody place helped her. Her complexion started to improve and the frown on her face was easing.
He sighed in relief. When he saw her suffering back there, Kaizer felt like soone had ripped his heart out of his chest. And that followed the rise of unquenchable anger inside him. He had only one thought in his mind when he saw her. To kill whoever made her like this.
’Shuffle’ Kaizer snapped out of his thoughts when he felt Lyra move. He noticed that she was once again starting to gasp for air. Instinctively he stretched his hand towards her but halted when a blue light surrounded her.
Kaizer panicked. He started to manifest his powers on his palm to counter whatever was happening but stopped as the blue light dimd before it turned into a weird creature.
Darya took a deep breath. It felt like sothing was burning inside its master’s body forcing it to co out. There was only one thing in the world that could affect her master like this and that was ’Fairy bane’
It was a relief that her master was not a complete fairy. Darya couldn’t even imagine what would have happened if it was otherwise. Its late master Vanadey fell to the brink of death due to the sa fairy bane. That angel bitch used a backhanded thod on Darya’s late master and killed her.
’’Who the heck are you!?’’ As Darya was lost in its thoughts, a gruff voice of a male interrupted.
It turned toward the sound and the first thing it saw was a purple-eyed stranger. Darya was confused. It knew each beastman chosen by the gem, but this stranger was not a part of it. And most importantly, the stranger reeked of darkness. Not sothing that is suitable to be with her lovely master.
Darya was about to question the stranger but was forced to stop when it felt Lyra’s condition worsening. It fidgeted in its place before looking back at the scowling male, ’’I will explain everything later but for now, help in removing the fairy bane from master’s body’’
’’A what?’’ Kaizer asked in confusion and Darya felt like beating him up.
’’There is no ti for to explain!’’ it yelled, ’’She will die if we leave her like this’’
And that made him panic. For now, he decided to go along with the weird little creature. He can deal with the creature later.
’’What should I do?’’
Darya was already making a small pool of water by filling up a Debris that it managed to find inside the cave, ’’Help remove my master’s clothes. She needs to be washed off until that Fairy bane...No, that thing gets off of her body’’
Kaizer went blank as soon as Darya finished its words, ’’Remove....what?’’
