(Approximately an hour ago)
Lyra gazed as the fox king dashed out of his own coronation banquet like being chased by soone. Maybe he indeed was getting chased by soone? She didn’t know about it and it was not like it had sothing to do with her, so she turned back her attention to her handso mates standing in front of her.
She felt Blake draping a thick fur coat on her shoulder. With a little tug, she entirely covered herself with the coat before smiling at her mate, "Thank you..."
Blake smiled back and kissed her cheek before pulling her towards his warm embrace. He could see her small shiverings even with the coat on. So he hugged her trying to keep her warm.
Whereas, Victor put his palms in front of the bonfire until it was warm enough and then put them on his mate’s cheeks. Seeing him doing this back and forth many tis, Lyra felt bad, "I’m alright, honey"
"But I’m not alright with you catching a cold. So keep quiet and let do my work" ca his quick reply that made her silent.
"When have I ever won against you?" She grumbled feigning anger but there was a faint smile on her lips and Victor noticed it.
Amidst this serene peace, there was a commotion heard that got everyone’s attention.
’’The stray beasts are attacking the castle walls’’ A loud voice of one of the guards startled everyone in the banquet. The beastn got alerted and moved to protect their mates and the guard beastn stood in front of their kings and queens putting on an attacking stance.
They felt tense to face the stray beasts and it was not because they were stronger but it was because they were reckless. The strays have nothing holding them back and no one that they have to protect. Their minds were filled with killing intent and nothing else.
However, this was not the sa for beastn who had mates. They were also a part of their individual tribe and protecting their kings and queens too took priority. They had to strategize before launching an attack and this made them vulnerable against the strays. This was the biggest reason why they most of the ti faced stray beasts in battles while their mates were back ho safe.
’BANG! CLACK!’ The giant wooden door of the fox tribe’s entrance fell to the ground after receiving multiple blows from the stray beastn. Their lustful eyes fell on the females hiding behind the males making the latter shudder.
Lyra too felt gazes lingering on her that made her uncomfortable. She felt her mates move in front trying to cover her. As snake and vulture tribes already had five marked beastn, Blake and Victor didn’t move from their places. In fact, they would have not moved even if there was no one to protect their tribe. For them, their mate ca always first, and everything else next.
On the other side, Demir too didn’t go anywhere near his tribe because he knew that his father was more than enough for protecting them.
Kyrell on other hand was torn between staying near his mate and going toward his tribe to protect them. Now he understood the importance of having soone strong and reliable as his subordinate. He made a ntal note to train so of the eagle beastn when all of this is over. And as though understanding his plight, he felt a feeble tug on his robe and heard, ’’You should go. I will be fine with all of them here by my side’’
He glanced down and was t with the clear blue eyes of his beloved urging him to leave her side. Kyrell wanted to argue but at last, was not able to say no to her and moved away.
As soon as he left, battle cries were heard all over the place. The number of stray beasts was more in number than expected. They kept on coming through the entrance and many four and five-marked stray beasts were also part of them.
Noah and Lucas as the ones responsible for guarding the city gates had no choice but to step forward first with other guard beastn into defending others. The joyous mont of the coronation banquet turned into a chaotic battlefield in no ti. Blood splattered everywhere and the air of death covered the grounds of the fox tribe.
Immortal beastn were not allowed to enter the battle unnecessarily because the harm done by one of them was more destructive than it was helpful. Hence, they refrained from turning into their beast forms. This was important as they did not want to lose themselves due to bloodlust, not when their mate was with them.
Blake intently looked at the battlefield. Their side was doing well defending against the strays until...a white smoke started to cover the surroundings. It reached everywhere and made all of them unable to see clearly. The sharp eyesight of beastn proved to be useless in this abrupt situation. But that was just the beginning because not being able to see was not all that troubleso until they felt their bodies paralyze. No matter how much they tried, it seed impossible for them to move. It was a hopeless situation for them and soone was happy about this.
The leader of the stray beastn smirked triumphantly and announced, ’’Kill them!’’ he owed this to the princess of the black wolf tribe. Without her powers, they couldn’t have done this. She gave them so kind of glittering white powder and asked them to sprinkle it on the enemies. He was skeptical in the beginning because she didn’t explain about the powder but this was more than he had ever imagined. Paralyzing beastn and that too including immortal beastn was like a blessing in disguise for them. She also made them drink sothing before they left to avoid them being affected by the smoke.
Heeding his command, the stray beastn stepped forward to tear their enemies apart but ca to a sudden halt and recoiled in their place. So kind of golden barrier stood between them and the city guards that stopped them from moving further.
The stray beasts looked at each other in confusion before their eyes fell on the blood-red eyes of the Eagle king.
