Volu 3: High School Arc - Mirror Ga

When I stood in front of the fish tank and lightly tapped the surface of the tank, a strange noise suddenly rang in my ears.

“You~ are~ do~~ing~~ what~”

My whole body trembled, my scalp tingled, and I stiffly turned my neck to look at him.

“Just looking…”

Before I could finish speaking, the monster suddenly raised its hand.

That blood-rusted kitchen knife was now completely stained with fresh blood, which trailed from the kitchen to the living room, leaving a vivid red mark along the way.

“Sit~ down~”

He suddenly flung the knife, and the blood on the blade splattered onto my clothes.

But I didn’t care anymore.

Clenching my lower lip, I nodded.

Then, under his gaze, I backed… to the dining table, took a deep breath, hesitated for a mont, and ultimately chose to sit on the chair.

Seeing obediently sit on the chair, he seed quite satisfied and nodded slightly.

Then he slowly turned his huge body and finally twisted back into the kitchen.

Watching his figure disappear once more into the kitchen doorway, I couldn’t help the tingling on my scalp.

If he had wanted to kill just now, there was no need for any talk.

In other words, his goal wasn’t to kill .

Then what was his purpose?

To make eat?

What was that for?

Based on speculation, I could infer several possibilities.

And judging by his behavior, I deduced the most likely one among them.

He… wanted to stay?

He didn’t want to leave.

So he wanted to stay.

If he simply wanted to kill , he didn’t need to make eat…

In other words… he wanted to make ‘stay’ through the act of feeding .

Then the only possible reason is… there’s sothing wrong with the food!!

Of course, I don’t an the ingredients themselves.

Though human flesh isn’t exactly gourt.

The key was… the food might carry so kind of special attribute.

Then… what could that attribute be?

I’m from the Surface World, and this is the Mirror World.

From the mont I entered until now… I haven’t felt any special status effects on my body.

Other than a cold.

As soone from the Surface World, I couldn’t comprehend the Mirror World.

Was he feeding because…

He wanted to adapt to this Mirror World!?

But if soone from the Surface World adapted to the Mirror World’s environnt, would I still have a chance to leave?

Would a person from the Surface World eating sothing from the Mirror World cause so kind of special transformation!?

Aside from that, I couldn’t think of any other possibility!

He had no reason to let live, let alone deliberately make eat.

Other than that, I couldn’t think of any reason.

He wanted to stay and keep him company?

He wanted to assimilate into the Mirror World through food?

From the beginning, I had been wondering why I could understand his voice and why what I said could also beco sothing he understood.

Why… would the ga give a ‘twenty-four hour’ ti limit?

If it was simply about escaping from a monster, there was no need to escape the Mirror World within twenty-four hours.

Then the only logical inference becos clear!!

In the Mirror World, I would be gradually assimilated!

According to the rule given at the start of the ga about ‘replacing the shadow’, that wasn’t just empty words—it was literal replacent!!

If I couldn’t escape within the ti limit, I would be assimilated by the Mirror World!!

The mont the deduction was confird, my scalp tingled uncontrollably!

I couldn’t eat what he gave !!

Otherwise, it would accelerate the process of assimilation!

The monster would chase for twenty-four hours, and I had only twenty-four hours to escape.

That ant… once the twenty-four hours passed, there was no point in running anymore, because by then I would have already been assimilated by the Mirror World!!

What should I do… use the World Watch?

Wait… is that a window over there?

Although that guy had stopped from continuing to explore the aquarium just now, I clearly felt that the aquarium’s surface was made of glass!

But… it was a completely black, non-reflective glass!

In other words, the windows in this world were also made of glass!

Jump out the window?

I didn’t know what floor this was, nor did I know what was outside the window… but I had the Evil Spirit Form!

It couldn’t hurt mirror monsters, but could it destroy the environnt?

Thinking of this… my right pinky finger moved slightly, and a black shadow erged from the tip of my finger.

Then… it slashed across the dining table.

‘Creeeaaak!’

Accompanied by an ear-piercing sound, a mark was indeed left on the wood!

“What~ was~ that~ sound~”

The monster noticed!!

But it didn’t matter to now, because I had already found a way to escape!

I suddenly jumped up from the chair, and the Evil Spirit Form instantly extended from my back.

Its entire upper body erged into the air, and at the sa ti, I heard footsteps coming from the kitchen!

Next, the arm of the Evil Spirit Form suddenly stretched out!

‘Crash!!!’

With the sound of shattering glass, the black window really was smashed in an instant.

Then, the Evil Spirit Form’s hand grabbed the window fra and gave it a fierce tug…

My body was instantly pulled out, and at the sa ti, my feet were quickly retreating backward.

I didn’t know whether the monster had realized sothing, but after hearing the sound of glass breaking, his footsteps suddenly sped up.

“No~ es~~cap~~ing~”

From the kitchen, ca the monster’s strange, noise-filled voice, brimming with furious rage.

I figured that if I were caught, I’d be torn into pieces on the spot!

But too bad—for him.

Since I knew that moving backward would distance from him, and with the help of the Evil Spirit Form, I could naturally escape this space with ease.

As for what the next space would be like…

I’d only find out once I got there!

My body swiftly retreated out the window.

The Evil Spirit Form had already smashed the entire window and looked downward…

When the scene below entered my view, I was truly a bit shocked… because down below looked like an endless abyss!!

I couldn’t see anything—not in the distance, not down below.

It was all pitch black.

But directly beneath this window, there were rows upon rows of black windows, continuing downward in succession!

Was this a high-rise?

I didn’t know what this place really was, but that wouldn’t stop .

My body was instantly pulled out of the window, and then the Evil Spirit Form abruptly returned to my body.

Watching that monster dashing out from the room with wide strides, I saw that his pure white pupils were now bloodshot!

“Aaaaaahhhhhh——”

I watched him roaring in rage, gave him a faint smile, and then… right before falling, I sent him a universal hand gesture.
