The arrival of Shen Bin and Zhao Guodong did not surprise Wu ngyi; it was Ye Qian who was unexpected. Ye Qian was montarily stunned upon seeing the sudden appearance of Shen Bin, only managing to compose her emotions with difficulty as Zhao Guodong and Shen Bin had already settled in the living room.
"Because of the issues with my adoptive parents, Ye Qian had a miscarriage. I’ve been wanting to co ho and inform Uncle and Aunt about this, but I haven’t had the ti. Just yesterday, Ye Qian was discharged from the hospital, and then I heard Zhiyuan had an incident. So I thought I’d co by today to see if there was any way I could help." After sitting down, Shen Bin explained his purpose, wanting to express his opinions.
Wu ngyi, being an experienced person, could tell that these were pleasantries, but nonetheless felt comforted. No matter what, the Li Family was showing their attitude. Although currently the family does not need the Li Family’s help, such gestures are heartwarming.
"This is sothing no one wanted to happen. I was also too agitated at the hospital that day, making a fool of ourselves." Wu ngyi finished and deliberately glanced at Zhao Guodong, "Aunt was a bit emotional that day; I hope I didn’t scare you! The matter has already happened and is in the past. Let’s let it go and focus on the present. Zhiyuan and Ye Qian are still young, they can have as many children as they want in the future."
Ye Qian brought out tea from the kitchen, and upon hearing her mother-in-law’s words, her eyes lowered, but she remained silent as she quietly served tea to the others.
Zhao Guodong savored the tea Ye Qian handed over, sipping lightly. He thought Ye Qian was hypocritical, but her mother-in-law was even more so. It seems birds of a feather flock together.
Sitting on the sofa, Zhao Guodong was kicked by Shen Bin, causing him to perk up and respond to Wu ngyi, "Auntie, this is all my fault. I was too impatient and this resulted in such a big incident. I know that whatever I do cannot compensate for such a mistake. If there’s anything you need in the future, please let know directly. I’ll be on call anyti."
Such sincere words are much more comforting than insincere ones.
Wu ngyi smiled, "Alright, Auntie will rember your words. Don’t hide when I call you in the future!"
This lightened the atmosphere in the room considerably. Wu ngyi wanted to steer the conversation away from her son because she was unsure whether he could hear through the door, fearing he might feel hurt. So she changed the subject.
"How is Ye Ling doing? She’s showing now, isn’t she?"
Shen Bin nodded, with a gentle look on his face, "She’s nearing five months, and her belly is showing quite quickly. The doctor said she might have a preterm birth."
"Well, that’s good news. You n don’t understand. Preterms are mostly boys, and those who drag on tend to be girls." Wu ngyi spoke truthfully, looking delighted for Shen Bin. But inside, her heart ached.
If Ye Qian hadn’t caused trouble, wouldn’t she be holding a grandson within a few months? Now, she can only watch others enjoy what she lacks.
"Boys are good. I’ll train him in the company when the ti cos." Zhao Guodong said as if the child were his own.
Shen Bin simply sat beside him, his face stern yet carrying a slight smile. Wu ngyi observed him for a mont, thinking Shen Bin must have a great temperant. Despite Zhao Guodong being so close with his wife, Shen Bin wasn’t jealous and instead got along so well with Zhao Guodong. Clearly, he has a broad mind, which is why he can make many friends and earn respect.
Her own family has been through several issues lately, causing Wu ngyi to envy Shen Bin and Ye Ling whenever she saw them. Rembering her own family’s problems gave her headaches.
"Boys or girls, it’s all the sa. As long as the child is healthy." Shen Bin noticed that Wu ngyi preferred that Liu Zhiyuan not co out, so he did not stay longer. He stood up directly, "I haven’t spent much ti at ho since returning. Today my dad is resting at ho, so I’ll go back to keep him company. I won’t stay long with Auntie today but will co by if I have ti another day."
Wu ngyi liked Shen Bin, so she laughed and said, "There’s plenty of stuff at ho today, so we won’t entertain you as much. Co by again when you have ti, and Auntie will treat you to good food."
She then got up to send Zhao Guodong and Shen Bin out. At the door, Ye Qian softly said, "Mom, you go back inside. I’ll see them off."
Wu ngyi nodded without thinking much and turned back inside. Ye Qian walked Shen Bin and Zhao Guodong to the door, watching them get into the car and leave, before aimlessly returning ho alone.
Just upon entering, she saw her husband sitting in the living room, glaring at her with a stern and cold expression.
Ye Qian was startled, not knowing what she had done wrong again. After closing the door, she cautiously walked over to sit beside her husband.
"Brother-in-law and Zhao Guodong just left, they ca to see you. Mom didn’t call you out because she thought you weren’t in the mood to handle them."
"In the future, matters between n don’t require your involvent." Liu Zhiyuan said coldly, turning to the study.
Ye Qian watched her husband’s cold back, quietly sighing. Thankfully, her mother-in-law wasn’t in the living room at this ti; otherwise, she would have gotten suspicious. She really couldn’t understand why her husband was treating her this way.
Inside the study, Liu Zhiyuan remained with a stern expression. Upon hearing Shen Bin’s arrival, he had been tense, listening intently to Ye Qian’s reaction and moves. Until Shen Bin was leaving, Ye Qian had not spoken a word. Liu Zhiyuan was inwardly frustrated but had not expected Ye Qian to accompany them out at last.
She clearly doesn’t want to miss any chance to interact with Shen Bin—a real ****.
Shen Bin let the driver take Zhao Guodong back, but instead of returning to the compound, he headed toward the Shen Family.
He planned to leave the next day, so he intended to settle all matters before his departure.
When Shen Bin arrived at the Shen Family, the only one missing was Gao Xique; the three other mbers of the family were present.
"Binzi is here," spoke only Mrs. Shen, with a touch of nervousness.
Shen Chun was sitting inside, head down, contemplating sothing. Since Shen Bin ca in, he hadn’t once raised his head.
As for Shen’s father, he lay on the kang with his back turned, relaxed and acting high-minded. Shen Bin glanced at him and knew he was feeling guilty, given the extent of the issue.
