"Sister-in-law, don’t you know the Governor?"
Maria Carter’s eyes suddenly lit up, but she paused without finishing her sentence. Rembering the scene at Saint Mary’s Kindergarten, she hurriedly added, "Last ti at the kindergarten, the Governor looked at little Nian with such affection. He’s helped you a lot before! If the Governor can step in, even if Secretary-General Sutton is backing Althaven, it shouldn’t be hard to handle!"
Emily Parker gently shook her head, "Unless there’s concrete evidence to prove Althaven is related to Charles Smith."
She paused, thinking of Uncle Mason’s usually impartial personality, and continued, "Uncle Mason is a man of principle, but Charles is his family. Going to him without solid evidence won’t help, and it might alert the enemy.
If Charles gets wind of this and destroys all the clues, it’ll be even harder for us to investigate Althaven in the future."
Carlos nodded along as he listened, "You’re right, now is definitely not the ti to be impulsive. We should first investigate quietly, and once we have enough evidence, reporting it to the Governor won’t be too late."
"Oh! I just rembered sothing!" Liliana suddenly clapped her hands, a sense of urgency in her eyes.
"Today, when Alia Willow drove to Althaven, I asked her if the place was safe. She told not to worry and said the owner is a female boss, who runs things reliably, and there wouldn’t be any problems."
"This female owner might be a key clue worth investigating thoroughly," Emily’s eyes lit up, nodding imdiately, "Maybe we can find connections between her, Althaven, Adam Willow, and even Charles Smith."
The group quickly agreed and decided that their next focus would be investigating Althaven and this "female owner." Once they have a clear understanding and gather evidence, they’ll plan the next steps.
As they left the small clinic, the night had deepened, leaving only a few streetlights lighting the way.
Maria Carter watched as Emily Parker prepared to head off alone on a motorcycle, quickly stepping forward with a proposal, "Sister-in-law, it’s so late, let my brother give you a ride, riding a motorcycle alone is too dangerous!"
But Emily smiled, shaking her head, skillfully mounting the motorcycle, "No need, my ho is not far from here, just be careful on the road. You should also go ho and rest early." With that, she twisted the throttle, and the motorcycle quickly disappeared into the night.
As the motorcycle’s figure faded from sight, Maria Carter turned around with a look of disappointnt, poking Carlos beside her, "Brother! Why can’t you show so initiative? When sister-in-law was leaving alone, even if you just said you’d take her, that’s better than standing here silently! Such a good sister-in-law, if you don’t pay attention..."
Carlos watched in the direction Emily disappeared, his fingertips slightly curled, yet he remained silent.
anwhile, at the sa late hour, the Willow siblings found themselves in a completely different anxious situation.
After just finishing up with the reorganization at Althaven, they rushed to the police headquarters without even catching a breath.
"Are you mistaken?!" Alia Willow’s voice escalated imdiately after hearing of "Mr. Willow’s murder suspicion" from the officer, nearly wanting to rush up and argue.
"My dad rarely even argues, how could he commit murder? You must have made a mistake!"
"Miss Willow, please calm down. We are legally summoning based on evidence. If you have objections, you can submit materials through legal channels." The officer’s tone was calm but carried an unyielding seriousness.
Seeing this, Adam Willow quickly reached out to restrain his emotional sister, gripping her arm firmly to signal her to hold back. He took a deep breath, looking at the officer with a steadied voice, "I know you’re following procedures, but I need to see Captain Shaw, I have things to discuss with him concerning my father’s case."
But the officer just shook his head, maintaining a steady tone, "Sorry, Captain Shaw is currently busy with other cases and is not seeing visitors. Also, Mr. Willow is still under investigation. Until the investigation results are out, family mbers cannot et him. Please cooperate and do not disrupt the office environnt."
Despite being held back by her brother, Alia was still unwilling to give up, lowering her voice and gritting her teeth, "Brother, they’re targeting us on purpose! First Althaven gets in trouble, and now they say dad’s a murderer, soone must be behind this!"
Adam Willow’s face turned grim, remaining silent, only staring at the office area behind the officer with coldness in his eyes—he knew clearly that this string of occurrences was too suspicious to be coincidences. However, now, even seeing Evan Palr was a challenge, making it even harder to uncover the truth.
