Capítulo 396: Chapter 385: Fishing in Troubled Waters

“Smack——”

The crisp sound of a slap was exceedingly harsh, instantly waking Alia Willow from her daze, her cheek burning with pain.

She shook her groggy head, her vision gradually cleared, and when she saw the man standing in front of her, her face was full of shock: “Brother? How are you here?”

She clearly rembered taking a drink at the bar in Althaven and chatting with a masked female fan, then everything spun and she lost consciousness.

She was supposed to be waiting for Liliana Manor to make a fool of herself, so how did she open her eyes to see her brother?

Adam Willow’s gaze behind his glasses was terrifyingly cold. He stared at Alia Willow, his tone full of suppressed anger.

“If I hadn’t co, were you planning to disgrace the entire Willow Family? Fooling around with several n in a private room and getting caught by the police, look at yourself now!”

Alia Willow finally panicked and lowered her head, discovering she was wearing her brother’s suit jacket, with the collar open revealing suggestive red marks on her neck and collarbone, shocking in their visibility.

She trembled all over, her voice shaking: “H-how did this happen? I only had one drink! I didn’t do anything!”

“Nothing?” Adam Willow sneered coldly, walking to the sofa, his gaze sweeping over the disarrayed wine glasses, “When the police ca in, you were slumped on this sofa, surrounded by three n, each one unconscious. If it wasn’t you, then what was it, a ghost?”

“No, it must have been Liliana Manor!” Alia Willow suddenly realized, looking up fiercely, her eyes filled with unwillingness, “That bitch was the one I drugged, left in the private room with Director Lawrence and his friends, how did it turn into ? Where’s Liliana Manor? Where is she?”

“From the beginning to the end, you were the only woman in the private room.” Adam Willow’s tone was as cold as ice, “I’ve already asked the staff at the club, tonight there was a sudden fire in Althaven, and a power outage, in the chaos, soone called the police. I found out later, it was Director Lawrence’s wife who got a tip-off, ca to catch him cheating but couldn’t get in, so she angrily called the police.”

He paused, looking at Alia Willow’s pale face, continuing, “As for Liliana Manor, no one knows when she left. The surveillance was disrupted by the fire, capturing nothing.”

Adam Willow originally wanted to check into the drink you had, to see if there was any issue, but the glass has long disappeared.

Alia Willow sat paralyzed on the sofa, her mind blank. She couldn’t fathom how things ended up like this.

“And Althaven.” Adam Willow’s tone carried weariness and gravity, “Although the fire didn’t reach the core area, it destroyed quite a bit, more importantly, the police have their eyes on this place now, in the short term, the club must cease operations.”

He stared at Alia Willow, his gaze carrying a hint of disappointnt, “Now all clues point to you, without any flaw.

I reckon you’ve offended soone in your day-to-day life, and this setup was orchestrated for you. From now on, be mindful, stop causing these troubles!”

Alia Willow opened her mouth, wanting to argue, but found she couldn’t say anything.

She truly didn’t rember what happened and couldn’t find any evidence to prove she was frad…

Adam Willow closed the door, the corridor staff busy clearing the ss.

Linda White had long been waiting at the corner nearby, seeing him co out, she quickly stepped forward,

“Things with the police have been handled; they didn’t investigate too much, just recorded it under ‘fire drunken disturbance’.”

But Althaven needs a thorough overhaul this ti, previously ntioned bringing Charles Smith over for a talk, but it might be delayed.”

Adam Willow nodded, his brows still tightly furrowed, evidently still troubled by Alia Willow’s issue and the club’s predicant, he looked at Linda White,

“By the way, has the surveillance room been checked? The footage before and after the fire, Alia entering the private room, and during Liliana Manor’s disappearance, any clues found?”

Even though Adam Willow reprimanded his sister verbally, he still felt sothing was off.

Althaven has always been very private, why would Director Lawrence’s wife suddenly get a tip-off, and coincidentally, Liliana Manor gets swapped out at this ti.

“No, due to the fire, many lines in the surveillance room were damaged, none of tonight’s footage from any area can be pulled up.” Linda White frowned tightly too, her tone carrying so helplessness, “I’ve already sent technicians to fix it, but short term, it’s unlikely any findings will co up.”

Adam Willow closed his eyes briefly, lifted his hand to rub his brow, his face full of fatigue,

Today truly was an unlucky day; first, his sister caused such an embarrassing incident at the club, now his father was detained at the police, even Althaven must cease operations for a revamp, a pile of troubleso matters weighing heavily on him.

“I’ll head to the police to see if I can get dad out on bail first.”

He opened his eyes, the impatience in his gaze subsiding sowhat, leaving only cold, asured determination, “You handle things here, give it a proper overhaul, and also arrange for soone to find out Liliana Manor’s whereabouts, this matter will not be let go so easily.”

Linda quickly nodded, “Don’t worry, I’m here, and I’ll contact you as soon as I hear anything.”

On the other side, after Emily and the others rescued Liliana, they got directly into the car Carlos had parked in advance at the club’s back door.

Maria held the still half-conscious Liliana, anxiously wiping her face with a damp towel, “Liliana, wake up! We’re safe now!”

Emily sat in the front passenger seat, glanced back at the two in the rear seat, then looked at Carlos, who was driving, her tone relaxed.

“Luckily, we switched it out in ti; Adam Willow is now busy dealing with Evan Palr and the club’s issues. He probably won’t be checking up on us for now. Let’s send Liliana back to her place first, and once she wakes up, we can ask about the details of what happened.”

The car slowly drove off the roadside, quickly disappearing into the night.

The Grandview Tower was especially quiet in the deep of night, with only one incandescent lamp glowing gently in the small clinic.

The small clinic hadn’t been renovated yet; the walls were simply white, and there were a few unopened boxes piled in the corner. There was only a treatnt bed, an ergency kit, and basic testing equipnt, giving a barren appearance.

Liliana was awakened by a faint sll of disinfectant. She slowly opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was the concern in her brother Faye Manor’s eyes.

Next, she saw Maria standing by the bed, and a familiar yet pleasantly surprising figure—Emily Parker.

“Sister Parker! It’s really you!”

Liliana was instantly much more awake, ignoring her slightly weak body, she excitedly sat up from the treatnt bed, almost jumping off, “I’m not dreaming, am I? How co you’re here? Weren’t you always abroad?”

Maria quickly helped her, smiling as she wiped the corners of her eyes, “Silly girl, you’re not dreaming, sis-in-law truly returned to Zylos! If it weren’t for sis-in-law and my brother Carlos helping, you would have been in real danger this ti!”

Emily also stepped forward, reached out to check Liliana’s forehead, confird her body temperature was normal, then spoke gently, “Don’t get too excited yet, you just woke up, and your body hasn’t fully recovered.

I also just returned to Zylos not long ago, originally wanted to find ti to tell you, but didn’t expect us to et in such a way.”

Listening to Maria recount how Adam Willow drugged her, how Emily and Carlos designed the switch, and then rescued her amidst the chaos, cold sweat gradually broke out on Liliana’s back.

A chill of fear crawled up her spine, her face turned pale.

At this point, Faye Manor finally spoke up after staying silent, his tone carrying so bla yet more heartache, “You, who usually seem so perceptive, how could you so easily trust Alia Willow this ti? If Carlos and Emily had been a step later, the consequences would have been unimaginable!”

Liliana knew she was wrong, her head hung low, voice cautious, “Brother, I’m sorry, I was too eager to stand up for Maria, and because I wanted to shift my career, I got tricked by Alia Willow’s ‘connecting’ façade… I won’t act so recklessly again.”

But as soon as she finished speaking, a fla of anger ignited in her eyes, she clenched her fist, “But Alia Willow is too vile! She not only wants to destroy my career, but also my reputation, I have to avenge this!”

“Don’t be impulsive.” Emily promptly held her hand, her tone serious, “You currently don’t have any evidence proving she’s scheming against you, and judging from the situation at Althaven, Alia’s connections there are definitely deep. The staff there are professionally trained, nothing like those from a regular club.

By the way, have you heard of Althaven before? Do you know who its owner is?”

Liliana hesitated for a mont, thought carefully, then shook her head.

“I’ve only heard from people in the circle that Althaven is a high-end club in Zylos, not a place ordinary people can enter, but I never heard who the owner is… Could there be sothing unusual behind this club’s background?”

“Such a force has been lurking in Zylos for several years, developing secretly, not to ntion that its connections are all among the elites and celebrities. If it continues, it will inevitably beco influential, definitely not to be underestimated.”

Carlos leaned against the table next to him, his brows still furrowed, his tone filled with gravity.

Emily recalled what Carlos said in the dance floor earlier and, paired with Alia Willow’s confidence at Althaven, suddenly found a clear thread in her mind.

“What surprised even more is that the force hidden behind Althaven is actually related to Adam Willow.”

Faye Manor paused for a mont, then furrowed his brows, “Adam Willow? I heard that he has been closely interacting with Secretary-General Sutton these past few years, could it be?”

Carlos nodded, “I saw Adam Willow there, and judging from tonight’s situation, he holds considerable influence at Althaven.

After Alia Willow had an incident, he was the one who connected with the Security Departnt, and could directly decide to suspend the club’s operations for rectification, obviously more than just a regular guest.”

Liliana ca to realization too, her face pale, “So Alia dared to recklessly plot against because she has her back propped up by Secretary-General Sutton? In that case, it would be even harder for us to seek revenge in the future?”
