Steps echoed slowly from behind, and a few people turned around together as Old Lady Carter’s face was full of anticipation.

She thought it was the arrival of the lawyer team, but when she clearly saw who it was, Adam Willow, Alia Willow, and she were all stunned.

"Why are you here?" Old Lady Carter’s face instantly darkened, her tone full of displeasure. Standing in front of her was Carlos.

Alia rolled her eyes even more, her face filled with disdain as she mocked, "Carlos? Did you have a sudden change of heart and co specially to help bail my dad out? Spare us your false kindness, our Willow Family cannot afford such ’goodwill’!"

Carlos completely ignored their sarcasm, and imdiately, a middle-aged lawyer in a black suit, carrying a briefcase, stepped forward.

The middle-aged lawyer first nodded slightly to Old Lady Carter, but his tone carried an apology: "Madam, I am very sorry, I cannot act as Evan Palr’s defense lawyer.

I am the exclusive lawyer for the Carter Clan Group, and now there is evidence pointing to Mr. Palr’s involvent in attempting to harm Old Master Carter. In this situation, which damages the core interests of the Group, I cannot do anything that would harm the Group’s interests."

"What did you say?" Upon hearing this, Old Lady Carter was instantly furious, her finger pointing at the lawyer trembling, "I hold half of the Carter Clan shares! I now order you to imdiately take over Evan’s case, or I won’t spare you!"

The lawyer remained polite, yet explained firmly.

"Madam, I also ca today to inform you of sothing.

You do not have the right to inherit shares of the Carter Clan Group.

According to our investigation, you immigrated long ago, and now hold foreign citizenship."

He paused, looking at Old Lady Carter’s face that instantly changed color, and continued,

"According to Zylos law, the Carter Clan Group signed a special agreent with the governnt years ago, stating that core shareholders cannot be foreign nationals.

Therefore, the Carter shares under your na have never t the ownership conditions."

Saying this, the lawyer took out several stamped legal docunts from his briefcase and handed them to Old Lady Carter.

"Not only are the shares of the Carter Clan Group included, but also the important fixed assets of the Carter Clan that you thought you could divide, cannot be held by foreigners. These assets have long been registered under the designated accounts of the Group."

Old Lady Carter took the docunts, her fingertips trembling as she flipped through them, her face growing paler.

She wasn’t a fool and understood instantly.

When she divorced Old Master Carter, the agreed "taking half the shares" was just a smokescreen by the Old Master to separate Mrs. Carter from Evan Palr.

Because of her foreign citizenship, she didn’t even have ownership of these assets. Years of hard work had turned into nothing!

"That old codger... how dare he sche against !" Old Lady Carter trembled with rage, a wave of dizziness overtaking her, causing her to fall backward uncontrollably.

"Madam!" Alia and Adam hurriedly moved forward, supporting her from both sides, their faces changing.

Adam quickly cald down and urged Alia anxiously, "Quick! Call for ergency help! The Madam has hypertension, she can’t be agitated!"

Alia finally ca to her senses, fumbling to pull out her phone to contact the hospital, and could only support Old Lady Carter to sit down and rest on a nearby chair.

Adam slowly turned around, his face dark with suppressed anger, staring intently at Carlos.

"Carlos, do you really have to be so ruthless? After all, he is still your father. Are you only satisfied when you’ve personally sent him to jail?"

Carlos’s thin lips curled slightly, full of mockery, as if hearing a great joke, his eyes cold without a trace of warmth.

"He attempted to murder my grandfather. Sending him to jail is rely karma, not ’ruthlessness’."

With that, he turned his head, looking at the lawyer next to him, his tone resolute and undeniable.

"I almost forgot, I didn’t co today just to bring a lawyer."

Carlos took out two signed legal docunts, handed them to the lawyer, and continued, "I also have to trouble you to visit Evan Palr later and hand these two severance docunts to her.

He has long since divorced my mother, and now he has attempted to harm my grandfather. Maria and I have decided to stand completely with our mother and grandfather.

From today, we are severing all ties with Evan Palr. From now on, his affairs have nothing to do with us siblings."

Staring at those thin but weighty severance docunts, Adam’s face beca even darker, his fists clenching audibly, "Carlos! Are you crazy? Severing the father-son relationship? Aren’t you afraid of being scolded behind your back?"

But Carlos didn’t even blink, his tone still indifferent.

"Compared to being labeled ’unfilial,’ I disdain acknowledging soone capable of turning on their family and being unfaithful for years as my father."

Finished speaking, Carlos no longer looked at the Willow siblings, turning decisively towards the police departnt entrance, his steps resolute and without hesitation, quickly disappearing from everyone’s sight.

The middle-aged lawyer also imdiately put away the docunts, nodded slightly to the Willow siblings, then turned to connect with the officers and handle the related procedures.

"Brother? What are we going to do now?"

Alia looked at the now unconscious Old Lady Carter in complete panic, her voice on the verge of tears, babbling incoherently.

"Carlos has not only cut off Dad’s legal channel but insists on severing ties with Dad. Is the Carter Family trying to push us to the brink without leaving any room?"

Adam took a deep breath, suppressing his agitation, and first helped the still-unconscious Old Lady Carter stand up: "Now is not the ti to panic; let’s send the Madam to the hospital first. She’s just been through a shock and can’t afford further delay."

When the ambulance arrived, the two rushed to Love & Kindness Hospital. After the examination, the doctor, holding the report, ca hurriedly, his tone grave: "The patient has suffered a cerebral hemorrhage due to severe emotional fluctuation. The situation is critical and imdiate surgery is necessary! Moreover, there’s a high probability of sequelae after surgery, so you need to be ntally prepared."

Adam and Alia’s faces abruptly changed. They were also unable to sign, and finally, they had to contact Mrs. Carter to co and sign.

Mrs. Carter arrived half an hour later.

The operation took three hours, and when the doctor ca out of the operating room saying, "The surgery was successful," the subsequent news plunged the Willow siblings into despair once again.

Although Old Lady Carter’s life was preserved, she could no longer stand or speak fluently. The grace and elegance of the past were gone, and she could only lie in the hospital bed.

Looking at Old Lady Carter, who no longer had her forr power, Adam and Alia exchanged a glance, seeing hesitation in each other’s eyes.

Now with the Carter Family unreliable and their father still in the police departnt, they were barely managing themselves, unwilling to spend energy caring for such a "useless" old lady.

"Brother, we don’t have ti to take care of her right now. Dad’s situation is still unresolved..."

Alia whispered in Adam’s ear, "Why not leave her to Mrs. Carter? After all, Mrs. Carter is her daughter, and caring for the Madam is part of her responsibility."

Adam was silent for a mont, but finally nodded.

He knew very well that taking care of Old Lady Carter now wouldn’t help them but would instead be a burden.

Mrs. Carter took over the care arrangents.

And the Willow siblings, after confirming that Mrs. Carter was willing to take over, only gave simple instructions and fled the hospital.
