Chapter 273: Chapter 267
Early in the morning, Adam Willow walked steadily into the Carter Clan Group building.
He wore a well-tailored light gray suit, the straight shoulder line outlining his tall figure, paired with a light blue shirt underneath, exuding a refined elegance.
Behind his gold-rimd glasses, his handso face showed gentle eyes.
As he stepped into the lobby, the receptionists stood up in unison, their faces radiant with sweet smiles and eyes full of admiration.
“Assistant Willow.”
The two female receptionists blushed upon seeing him.
Adam Willow smiled slightly, his gaze gently sweeping over everyone, nodding politely in greeting.
Though he had only been the chairman’s assistant for a few days, his rigorous style cultivated from years of study and work had already made him thoroughly familiar with the internal workings of the Carter Clan Group.
His work ability was widely recognized, and in interpersonal relations, he was particularly adept, interacting harmoniously with various departnts. Even those board mbers known for being picky praised him endlessly.
Everyone knew that the new chairman’s assistant was not only outstanding in ability but also young and handso; most importantly, he was still unmarried.
Faced with the admiring glances from female colleagues, Adam Willow only wore a faint smile, his gaze carrying a touch of modesty.
Just as he entered the elevator, another assistant of Evan Palr happened to be inside.
The person approached Adam Willow as soon as they saw him, their face full of smiles with a hint of flattery in their eyes,
“Assistant Willow, have you heard? Oliver Ross has resigned.”
Adam Willow was slightly stunned, a trace of surprise flashing in his eyes.
He thought of Oliver Ross, who was Carlos’s forr assistant and currently Emily Parker’s assistant.
The other person was efficient in work, articulate and clear in speaking, and acted swiftly and decisively.
Yesterday, Emily Parker successfully retained her position as general manager at the board eting, largely due to Oliver Ross’s support behind the scenes.
At least in Evan Palr and Adam Willow’s view, Oliver Ross was the biggest contributor behind the scenes.
After all, Emily Parker used to be just a nurse, almost ignorant of corporate managent. It was certainly all on Oliver Ross’s strategic planning that she could navigate the board eting without much difficulty.
“He resigned? Then what about the… general manager?”
Adam Willow blurted out instinctively, his voice carrying a trace of urgency.
The other person was slightly stunned, looked at him unexpectedly, with an exploratory gaze passing through their eyes.
Adam Willow then realized his slight overreaction and quickly explained,
“I’m worried that the general manager might not be able to handle the current work alone. If the project encounters issues, it would negatively impact the chairman’s strategic planning.”
His eyes were earnest as he spoke, trying to keep his tone calm, attempting to conceal his inner turmoil.
The other person, however, didn’t care about his explanation, instead showing a knowing smile, with a touch of schadenfreude in their voice,
“In my opinion, even heaven seems to be helping the chairman.
That Emily Parker is just a useless person; she was the old chairman’s special caretaker, relying on flattering the old chairman to get this position.
Oliver Ross must have been oppressed by her to the point of resignation.”
When ntioning Emily Parker, his face was full of disdain. He couldn’t stand such won who rely on n to rise to power.
“If I’m not mistaken, you’re going to be very busy next.”
He leaned closer, lowered his voice, with a bit of envying in his tone,
“You’re young and capable, familiar with dical fields, and currently the Group is most focused on the dical project collaborating with Sterling Research Institute. With Oliver no longer on board, and the general manager unable to handle it, you might get promoted and a pay raise, directly taking over to handle the project.”
His words were like a pebble thrown into a calm lake, stirring up layers of ripples within Adam Willow’s heart.
Adam Willow paused, recalling the various efforts made at Love & Kindness Hospital to promote cooperation with Sterling Research Institute.
Those days and nights of overti, and the reluctance felt when the project ultimately failed, seed just before his eyes.
Unexpectedly, he now had the chance to be responsible for this project again.
His heartbeat involuntarily accelerated, a glimrs of excitent flashed in his eyes, he believed he was more suitable than Emily Parker to manage this project.
If he managed to secure the project, he could finally et Dr. Sterling.
Knowing this news, Adam Willow’s steps were much lighter when he walked out of the elevator, like treading on an invisible cloud, every step carrying a hint of anticipation.
Soon after, Evan Palr suddenly called a departntal manager eting, saying there were important managerial changes to inform the departnts.
Although Adam Willow had already gotten hints about it, he couldn’t help but feel a bit excited inside.
As he entered the conference room, all the departnt managers were already there, creating an atmosphere filled with tension and anticipation.
He scanned the surroundings but didn’t see Emily Parker. A few departnt managers were whispering to each other.
“Have you heard, Assistant Ross resigned.”
A departnt manager said in a lowered voice, with a bit of schadenfreude in their tone.
“I knew it; once Junior President Carter left, he would certainly follow.”
Another departnt manager echoed, a disdainful look in their eyes.
“Following such a vase-like general manager? Wouldn’t that be exhausting?”
Soone else chid in, their tone full of ridicule.
“Look, the general manager didn’t even co over. Without Oliver Ross, she’s probably unable to even understand the eting docunts, right?”
The last departnt manager sneered, their eyes filled with contempt.
While the departnt managers were talking, Evan Palr walked in.
He raised his hand, signaling everyone to be quiet, and the conference room instantly fell silent.
“Everyone should have heard by now, Assistant Ross resigned.”
Evan Palr’s voice was deep and powerful, resonating in the conference room,
“He was an old employee of the company, having been responsible for several major projects. His resignation is a significant loss for us.
Even though he has left, his projects still require soone to manage.”
Saying this, Evan Palr paused, his gaze sweeping across the conference room before finally landing on Adam Willow.
Adam Willow couldn’t help but straighten his chest slightly, his eyes showing a hint of anticipation, as if waiting for so important verdict.
At this mont, the conference room door was suddenly pushed open.
All eyes turned to the entrance, and Emily Parker walked in.
She was wearing a simple white shirt, with black straight-legged trousers below, appearing both competent and efficient.
She wore a faint smile on her face, seemingly indifferent to the surrounding overt or covert gazes.
“Chairman Evan, I’d like to personally announce my choice of assistant.”
Emily Parker’s voice was clear and firm, with a touch of indisputable certainty.
Behind her was a tall figure with a nonchalant smile—Carlos.
In front of everyone, Emily Parker announced the news,
“Carlos, my new assistant.”
