Chapter 581: Extra: Family Feast

Qi Muyu went back to Beijing with her parents after her holiday ended.

The day they returned to Beijing, people from the Qi Mansion ca over, saying that Elder Qi wanted to et his great-granddaughter.

Since Elder Qi wanted to et, they naturally wouldn’t decline.

So, that evening the entire Qi Si family was present.

Qi Heng’s family of three was also there.

Qi Heng’s son was raised to be well-behaved and sensible; he didn’t inherit Song Jinwei’s or Father Qi’s faults and was more like his mother.

The woman Qi Heng married wasn’t initially to Song Jinwei’s satisfaction, but in the end, she begrudgingly agreed, so Shen Yan’s sister-in-law didn’t get along well with Song Jinwei. She usually lived outside with her son and didn’t often return to the old house.

If Song Jinwei wanted to see her grandson, she had to go and visit him herself.

She not only urged Qi Si to have a son but also Qi Heng.

Song Jinwei’s idea was very simple; she wanted a grandchild who would be raised at the old house and be closer to them.

Seeing the images of those wealthy matrons in the Beijing circle flaunting their grandsons and granddaughters, Song Jinwei felt a bit sour inside.

Her own grandchildren weren’t close to them, and this made Song Jinwei very uncomfortable.

That’s why she proceeded with the pressuring.

If only one of the grandchildren was closer to them, she wouldn’t keep urging them.

With Elder Qi there, neither Song Jinwei nor Father Qi dared to speak first to call the children closer. Elder Qi called each child over, laughed and talked with them for a few sentences before letting them go off to play.

Neither child was naughty; Qi Muyu was also well-behaved in front of her elders but was a bit more mischievous usually.

Thanks to the inherited looks from both parents, she was extrely adorable!

After the children had eaten their fill and gone out to play, only the adults remained in the dining room.

“Xiao Yu is almost five, when do you plan to have a second one?” Song Jinwei took advantage of Elder Qi’s presence to bring up the topic again.

Elder Qi glanced at her.

Shen Yan didn’t answer.

Qi Si said indifferently, “We’re content with having Xiao Yu.”

“Another child would an another companion; it’s lonely for her to be an only child.”

“But there is Muqin.”

Qi Muqin, Qi Heng’s son.

Song Jin followed up, “That’s different.”

“Is Muqin not Xiao Yu’s brother?”

“…It still should be a biological one.”

“Enough,” Elder Qi’s voice ca through with a hint of impatience, “This is the children’s affair; why are you fussing about it? What were you doing earlier?”

“I…” Song Jinwei felt wronged.

She just wanted what was best for her sons.

In a few more years, it would be too late to have children.

Father Qi tugged at Song Jinwei’s sleeve under the table and said to Elder Qi, “Dad, we just want the house to feel a bit livelier.”

“You didn’t seem to want it lively before; why do you like it now?” Elder Qi didn’t give face to his son.

Father Qi was embarrassed for the mont.

Elder Qi glanced coldly at his son, “There are plenty of siblings in the family; have you ever gotten along well with them?”

Father Qi: “…”

That’s it; the old man is biased towards Qi Si and his family, so there’s no point in arguing.

Elder Qi continued, “Don’t disgust everyone with things you can’t do yourself, pretending to care. I’m one foot in the coffin already, and I don’t want to deal with these ssy trifles in the house anymore.”

“Dad, what are you saying…”

“Isn’t what I’m saying true? You’re just waiting for to die quickly so you can control the younger generation.”

“No,” Father Qi protested his innocence.

“Whether it’s true or not, as long as I’m here for one more day, you all should stay peacefully.”

“Yes,” Father Qi dared not say more.

The dinner went smoothly. The old master’s health had grown increasingly worse. After dinner, he exchanged a few words with Qi Si and his companions before leaving.

“Go see your grandfather off,” Song Jinwei signaled Qi Si to accompany Elder Qi.

After speaking briefly with Shen Yan, Qi Si followed Elder Qi.

With soone accompanying him and his residence not far away, when Elder Qi saw Qi Si following, he waved his hand, “No need to follow.”

“It’s been a while since I walked with Grandfather,” said Qi Si.

Elder Qi looked at the middle-aged man by his side, who stepped aside to a distance, following the grandfather and grandson from afar.

“Your parents want to make it up to you. Don’t mind what they say too much,” Elder Qi said, while Qi Si gently assisted him to walk slowly.

“I know.”

“I won’t be able to look after you all for much longer.”

“You’re still quite robust.”

“Life and death are natural. When the ti cos, don’t grieve for . I, too, wish I could join your grandmother soon.”

“Grandfather,” a weight suddenly tightened in Qi Si’s heart.

Elder Qi signaled that he didn’t need to fear such things, “I’m bound to go, sooner or later. If you’re doing well, when I pass on and your grandmother asks, I’ll have an answer for her.”

“You…”

“Qi Si, live your life well with Shen Yan. Alright, you don’t need to escort any further. Go back and spend ti with your wife and children, don’t waste it on an old man like .”

“I’ll walk you to the front gate,” Qi Si insisted.

Watching Elder Qi slowly enter the main courtyard, Qi Si stood outside the gate, quiet for a long ti.

He knew that one day the elders would leave him, but he didn’t want that day to co just yet.

He selfishly wished for Elder Qi to live a bit longer.

While Qi Si saw Elder Qi off, Shen Yan went with her sister-in-law to find the children.

Although there were not many children in the Qi Mansion, there were quite a few.

Most of them were of similar ages and could play together.

Several older children were also looking after the younger ones with care.

Seeing Qi Muyu mingle with everyone and even display so big sister authority, Shen Yan couldn’t help but smile.

“Xiao Yu, it’s about ti we headed back.”

“Mommy,” Qi Muyu spoke to her cousins before rushing toward Shen Yan, “Where’s Daddy?”

“He went to see off your great-grandfather.”

“Great-grandfather left?” Qi Muyu quite liked her great-grandfather.

Shen Yan took her hand, “Say goodbye to everyone.”

Qi Muyu waved to her cousins and followed Shen Yan as they departed.

Once outside, seeing Song Jinwei waiting, Shen Yan signaled Qi Muyu to greet her.

Despite whatever was between Shen Yan and Song Jinwei, Song Jinwei had been decent toward Qi Muyu, so Shen Yan didn’t mind her daughter interacting with Song Jinwei.

“Let the child stay here during the holiday. You and Qi Si are both busy, right? You won’t have ti to take care of her. I can take her to social events and mingle,” Song Jinwei suggested in a negotiating tone.

Shen Yan paused, looked at Qi Muyu, and asked, “Do you want to go with Grandma?”

“Is it the sa kind of party I went to last ti?” Qi Muyu still rembered those events.

“Yes, yes!” Song Jinwei eagerly responded, “There are many kids about your age in Beijing. You’ll surely have a good ti together.”

“Great! Then I’ll stay here for a few days. Mommy, you and Daddy enjoy your ti together!” Qi Muyu said in a very mature tone.

Shen Yan was amused by her seriousness.

“If you want to go, I’ll discuss it with your dad later,” Shen Yan stroked her head, “Listen to Grandma and don’t let anyone bully you. We don’t bully others, but we also don’t allow others to bully us, got it?”

“I know, Mommy, don’t worry. I won’t let anyone bully . If soone dares to provoke , they won’t know what hit them!” Qi Muyu declared, puffing up her little chest.

Shen Yan laughed again.
