Chapter 740: Chapter 740 Ye You’s Cross_1

"In your dreams!" His body bruised and beaten, Yeyou spat furiously, defiance flickering in his eyes as he glared at his father’s murderer.

He longed to exact his revenge on Tian Xiaozi, but his magic had been restrained. He was now too weak, no match for Tian Xiaozi.

Tian Xiaozi burst into laughter instead of anger. He looked down at Yeyou with rrint, saying casually,"Fine, I’ll spare your life for now. I’ll keep you alive and tornt you until you hand over the Divine Artifact."

A sense of despair was slowly overwhelming Yeyou. He couldn’t imagine what kind of torture Tian Xiaozi would put him through, but he knew it would be rciless.

Tian Xiaozi’s face was gloomy. He opened his palm lightly, and a cluster of dark energy gathered in it.

He uttered a spell quickly, and the dark energy in his palm was swung out suddenly, enveloping Yeyou.

When the dark energy dissipated, where Yeyou had been stood a tiny black cat instead of the forrly handso youth.

Tian Xiaozi looked at Yeyou’s small figure, now helpless and pathetic, and laughed heartily in triumph.

Yeyou stared in disbelief at his own body, filled with intense grief and despair, wishing for death.

It was midnight on the fifteenth of July, the moon was at its peak in the night sky, the yin energy heavy. A long, rectangular dark brown mirror was set into the fra above the palace gate.

When Tian Xiaozi cursed Yeyou, a part of his spiritual power fell on the mirror, opening a ti tunnel.

The spiraling tunnel gradually revealed itself, and the powerful suction pulled Yeyou’s tiny body into the tall, rectangular mirror.

The self-absorbed Tian Xiaozi was taken aback. He hurried over to check and barely escaped being pulled in as well.

He quickly called upon his magic to fly to a safe distance. He watched helplessly as Yeyou disappeared, swallowed by the mirror.

Without securing the two divine artifacts of the Jiuxi Royal Family, Tian Xiaozi was frustrated. But now, all he could do was manage appearances, blaming the attack on the palace and Sage Ruler Tianyu’s death on the unknown entities who had directed a horde of demonic beasts. This, he claid, had also led to Prince Yeyou’s disappearance.

Tian Xiaozi allowed the representatives of the Eight Great Families to see Sage Ruler Tianyu’s body, to confirm that Tianyu’s fatal injury at the neck was indeed caused by the sharp beak of a demonic beast.

Following the tragedy, Tian Xiaozi assud the position of Regent Sage Ruler, as a descendant of the Jiuxi Royal Family.

The events of the night were peculiar and abrupt, leading to much doubt among the Eight Great Families.

However, based on the Ancient Divine Teachings, matters within the Jiuxi Royal Family could only be dealt with by its own mbers. The Eight Great Families could fend for themselves, but could not intervene, out of respect for the dignity of the Jiuxi Royal Family, which represented the Nine Heavens Phoenix, the founding deity of the Demon Sacred Realm.

And so, Tian Xiaozi beca the Regent Sage Ruler. But without a divine artifact in his possession, the Eight Great Families neither cooperated nor accepted him as legitimate. The situation was made worse by the fact that several of Yeyou’s classmates from Heavenly Magic God’s Castle, who were stars from the Eight Great Families, had great influence and spoke out against him.

Thus, a pact was made for a three-year probation between Tian Xiaozi and the Eight Great Families.

If Yeyou didn’t return within three years, the Eight Great Families would have no choice but to accept Tian Xiaozi as the new Sage Ruler because he had the blood of the Jiuxi Royal Family.

This was the compromise agreed upon both by Tian Xiaozi and the Eight Great Families.

Everyone knew that Tian Xiaozi would make moves during these three years. But in the absence of Yeyou, with no one to lead them or bind them together, the Eight Great Families could not take any restrictive action against him.

After becoming Regent Sage Ruler, the first significant thing Tian Xiaozi did was to ask for the hand of Ya Ning, the eldest daughter of Clan Leader Qingming.

Both the Sage Ruler Ruiyan and Sage Ruler Tianyu had Consort Queens from the Qing Ming Family, so this family was most unwilling to accept Tian Xiaozi.

After careful consideration, Clan Leader Gelun shared his thoughts with his daughter Ya Ning.

With the death of Sage Ruler Tianyu and the disappearance of Prince Yeyou, the Eight Great Families had no idea what had truly transpired. They had no reliable sources within the royal palace.

If they wished to dig out valuable clues, they had to start with Tian Xiaozi.

So, while the marriage proposal was bad news for the Qing Ming Family, it was good news for the Demon Sacred Realm at large, providing them with an opportunity to plant soone by Tian Xiaozi’s side.

For the sake of the Demon Sacred Realm, the Qing Ming Family, and Yeyou, Ya Ning gritted her teeth and agreed to the marriage, becoming Tian Xiaozi’s Regent Patroness.

Since then, Tian Xiaozi and the Eight Great Families had maintained a precarious balance, waiting only for Yeyou’s return.

When Yeyou’s story ended, Qin Sisi’s mood had transitioned from curiosity to heaviness and then to empathetic grief and sadness.

She suddenly had a lot to say to him. She wanted to say sorry, she hadn’t realized he’d suffered so much; she wanted to say, don’t be afraid, I will always be by your side, you won’t be alone; she wanted to say, keep fighting, we’re back now, you will be able to avenge your father and retrieve the throne...

But in the end, she said nothing. She just hugged Yeyou tightly by the neck, her cheek against his soft fur.

Yeyou sighed softly, burying his head in the crook of Qin Sisi’s neck. It was only in her arms that he could feel a long-lost sense of peace and warmth.

After a while, Qin Sisi let go of Yeyou and asked quietly, "Is Divine Dog City...safe?"

Yeyou nodded and replied in a low voice, "The Divine Dog Family is the most trustworthy among the Eight Great Families."

In other words, if even the Divine Dog Family couldn’t be trusted, then there was no one among the Eight Great Families who could be trusted.

Seeing Qin Sisi’s confusion, Yeyou turned and pointed towards the large screen not far from the bed and asked, "Do you see that?"

Qin Sisi turned to look. The screen was larger than any she’d seen before, dividing the room into two sections – one for receiving guests and the other for resting - similar to the concept of a suite in the human world.

The painting on the screen was interesting. In the most conspicuous position was a large, majestic black dog, holding a human head in its mouth, from which blood was still dripping.

People around the dog were blurry, but all had their fists raised to the sky, mouths wide open, as if cheering for the black dog.

To the right of the black dog, a middle-aged man, dressed in a robe and wearing a crown, was smiling approvingly at the dog.

Next to the middle-aged man, a young woman of enchanting beauty was lovingly looking at the dog with a gentle, bashful smile on her lips.

Qin Sisi pondered for a mont before asking, "The one wearing the crown should be the forr Sage Ruler of the Demon Sacred Realm, right? Does the painting an that the black dog helped the Sage Ruler kill a powerful enemy?"

A glimr of appreciation flashed in Yeyou’s eyes. He extended his paw, patting Qin Sisi’s head in praise. "You’re getting smarter."

A mix of shyness and joy washed over Qin Sisi as she glanced at Yeyou. Noticing that quite a bit of her skin was exposed, she adjusted her position to cover herself more with the blanket.
