Chapter 739: Chapter 739: The Demise of the Sage Ruler_1

After nine years of studying and training, twenty-year-old Ye You advanced to the rank of Magic Star and graduated from Heavenly Magic God’s Castle.

Less than a month after his return to the Royal Palace, encouraged by his father, Tian Yu, he began to travel for practical training.

While Heavenly Magic God’s Castle was a school with rigorous learning and nurous outdoor activity courses, it had plentiful protective asures to ensure safety. To achieve greater personal growth, one had to gain field experience via these adventures.

Ye You initially ventured into Birdsong Forest, later explored the periphery of All Souls Forest near Divine Dog City, traveled east to Biyuan Forest, which is located between Scholar City and Qingyin City, and went west to Sunset Desert, on the border of Midair City and Daye City.

Three years later, Ye You’s magic advanced to the rank of High-level Magic Star. If all went well, he would soon ascend to the status of Magic Spirit.

Nonetheless, with his father’s birthday approaching, Ye You temporarily suspended his adventure and returned to the Royal Palace to celebrate. He initially planned to stay at the palace for a few days before venturing again, but unexpected events propelled everything in an uncontrollable direction.

To Ye You’s surprise, Tian Xiaozi had appeared at the palace. His father, Tian Yu, revealed to Ye You that Tian Xiaozi had written a touching letter asking to honor his father’s birthday.

The wording in the letter evoked sorrow.

Tian Xiaozi expressed his loneliness and hardship over the years, and how at tis of despair, being aware of having a brother in the world would warm his heart, gladdening at the bond of their shared bloodline.

Now, with age and white hair, the uncertain, fleeting nature of life prompted him to express a wish to et his elder brother. He ntioned that if his elder brother found his request disagreeable, it shall be as if he never expressed it.

Even if his elder brother agreed, he promised to leave imdiately after his brother’s birthday, causing no disturbance to him.

Tian Xiaozi’s mother, the ambitious palace maid, died of illness shortly after the death of Sage Ruler Ruiyan. On her deathbed, she nad her son Tian Xiaozi, seemingly separating themselves from the Jiuxi Royal Family, while also expressing her lack of ambitions.

Sage Ruler Tian Yu had only briefly seen Tian Xiaozi at his mother’s funeral. At that ti, he was a fifteen-year-old young man, and Tian Xiaozi was but a five-year-old child.

Despite harboring resentnt towards Tian Xiaozi and his mother back then, decades have passed. Having lost his parents, his beloved wife, and with his only son away, Tian Yu often felt loneliness and solitude.

Tian Yu knew Tian Xiaozi was also alone, with no spouse or child.

Before Sage Ruler Ruiyan’s death, he had asked Tian Yu to treat Tian Xiaozi well if the latter behaved appropriately.

While he bore no affection for the palace maid, there was still a sense of kinship with his own bloodline.

The letter from Tian Xiaozi touched Tian Yu deeply. Keeping in mind the admonition from his father, Tian Yu felt so sympathy for his half-brother and agreed to Tian Xiaozi’s request to attend the celebration.

Tian Xiaozi arrived with a small entourage of only a dozen guards, a carriage full of fragrant wines, and a carriage of rare exotic beasts, all of which he claid as gifts for Sage Ruler Tian Yu.

Only after thorough examination by the guards of the Divine Dog City was Tian Xiaozi allowed to enter the Royal Palace, attending the family banquet on the night of July 15th.

Ye You invariably replayed every detail of the banquet countless tis, although doing so felt like repeated torture.

In the beginning, Tian Xiaozi offered wine to Tian Yu and Ye You, his deanor exceedingly respectful.

After three rounds of toasts, Tian Xiaozi presented his own fine wine to Tian Yu and Ye You. Due to their wariness, they shared a glance but did not dare consu it imdiately.

Having discerned their apprehension, Tian Xiaozi proactively drank his cup to the last drop, overturning the cup to show them its emptiness.

Following his lead, Tian Yu and Ye You too finished their drinks without feeling anything amiss. Tian Yu even felt guilty for suspecting Tian Xiaozi.

Half an hour later, a guard reported a sudden attack on the palace by a large group of demonic beasts. The guards suffered heavy casualties.

Frightened, Tian Yu prepared to go out and investigate when Tian Xiaozi abruptly sprang up and set a thick barrier at the door, preventing anyone from leaving or entering.

Angered, Tian Yu glared at Tian Xiaozi and demanded, "What are you doing?"

"Brother," Tian Xiaozi replied with a cold, mocking laugh, "We haven’t seen each other in decades. Why don’t we test our strength?"

Recognizing Tian Xiaozi’s ill intentions, Ye You offered to fight on his father’s behalf.

Tian Xiaozi, however, brazenly retorted, "Why not both of you?"

With the troubling situation within the palace, a concerned Tian Yu disregarded any sense of righteousness and imdiately joined Ye You to confront Tian Xiaozi.

However, they soon realized sothing was suppressing their magic power, making it extrely difficult to mobilize and nearly impossible to use any magic skills.

Seeing their troubled state, Tian Xiaozi laughed out loud, "Tian Yu, I too descend from Jiuxi Royal Family. You have held the position of Sage Ruler for decades; it’s ti for

to take a turn."

As he spoke, Tian Xiaozi continually cast lethal magic skills one after another.

Tian Yu and Ye You could only dodge passively. Before long, both were injured.

In desperation, Tian Yu attempted to negotiate with Tian Xiaozi, "I can cede the throne to you if you spare my son."

"Very well," Tian Xiaozi answered with a faint smile.

Believing Tian Xiaozi had agreed, Tian Yu let out a sigh of relief. But just as he was about to instruct Ye You, Tian Xiaozi flipped his wrist and a black iron beak giant eagle sprang out, heading straight for Tian Yu.

Having dropped his guard as the eagle moved like lightning, Tian Yu was unable to evade. The eagle’s beak stabbed clean through his throat, and Tian Yu fell to his death, leaving behind no last words.

A great Sage Ruler t his pitiful end.

"Father!" Ye You, cradling his father’s bloody body, was in pain and despair.

Tian Xiaozi, looking at his elder brother’s corpse in a pool of blood, laughed coldly, "Did you think I would act like you? If you were ruthless from the start, how could there be today’s disaster?"

Enraged to the point of losing reason, Ye You charged at Tian Xiaozi recklessly.

With a cold snort, Tian Xiaozi waved his arm lightly and Ye You, now devoid of magic power, was thrown to the hard floor like a fragile leaf caught in a strong gust of wind. He first crashed into the thick barrier and then fell onto the hard floor by the door.

nacingly, Tian Xiaozi demanded, "Boy, hand over the Divine Artifacts promptly. I might consider leaving intact bodies for you and your father, entombed with honors at the East Mountain Imperial Tomb."

He had already gathered information that in order to ensure Ye You’s safety during field training, Tian Yu had given Ye You the two inherited Divine Artifacts of the Jiuxi Royal Family: Phoenix Scepter and Wings of Rainbow.
