Chapter 334: Chapter 334: Hypocritical Grave Crying _1

The death of the second son and his wife must be connected to the old man, otherwise, he would not have cried with such heartbreak and hopelessness.

After all, they were his own children! How could he bear to strike them down unless he was pushed to the extre?

The eldest son and his wife, grieving and preparing mourning rites for their little brother and his wife, respectfully invited Qin Sisi to their ho.

Alone, trying to avoid the crowd, they lowered their voices and asked Qin Sisi, "Miss, do you think this matter has anything to do with our father?"

Without Qin Sisi’s involvent, the eldest son wouldn’t have harbored such suspicions.

Yet, Qin Sisi had explained to them the root of the problem and pointed out a solution, but they worried it would be too costly and troubling.

Encouraged by his wife, the second son had sought help from another Mage, who had used a crude but cheaper approach to resolve the matter.

The eldest son nervously decided to wait and watch.

However, the very next day after a wooden stake had been driven into the grave, his brother and sister-in-law t their ends, making him doubt the situation.

Qin Sisi furrowed her brows thoughtfully and instead of answering, posed a question of her own, "Who discovered it first?"

The eldest son promptly replied, "It was . My wife wasn’t experiencing any abdominal pain last night, so I was quite joyful. I went to ask my brother if his wife had a relapse, if not, then this matter would be considered resolved. Who would have imagined..."

Qin Sisi shot him a glare, and the eldest son quickly shut his mouth.

Qin Sisi continued asking, "Have you reported to the police?"

The eldest son hastily replied, bending slightly, "Yes. The police and doctors both ca. They briefly looked around, took so notes, and left after a short while.

The doctors said there was nothing they could do; it was beyond saving, and the police said it was an accident, not a criminal investigation, there was no need for a probe."

At this point, the eldest son’s wife suddenly let out a heart-wrenching scream, and she began to weep loudly, "My little brother! My sister-in-law! You’ve died so tragically!"

Her crying was loud, but her eyes were dry, no trace of tears to be found.

Feeling extrely exasperated, Qin Sisi slamd on the table, silencing the eldest son’s wife instantly.

Qin Sisi swept her cold gaze over the faces of the eldest son and his wife. The couple shivered, feeling a chill from head to toe, cold sweat trickling down their foreheads.

After a mont, Qin Sisi asked in a cold tone, "Do you believe ?"

The eldest son and his wife exchanged a glance, nodding frantically. They stamred, "Yes, we believe you. Please Miss, ah, no, please Master Mage, guide us."

Qin Sisi said solemnly, "Your brother and his wife infuriated your father, and that’s why they ended up in this disaster. You must follow my instructions next, or you will et a similar fate."

The eldest son and his wife were almost on the verge of collapsing, they could only nod in agreent without uttering another word.

Hence, the yellow paper, joss paper and gold ingots bought yesterday were put to use.

The eldest son and his wife now understood the gravity of the situation, they dared not take things lightly anymore.

They hired a few people and had the mountain of yellow paper and other items delivered to the old man’s grave.

Then, the eldest son bought several pounds of at from the store and went ho to cook a al of eight vegetarian dishes and eight at dishes together with his wife.

Lastly, the couple dressed in mourning clothes, knelt in front of the old man’s grave and started to wail.

However, their cries seed odd; it did not sound like they were reminiscing, they seed more like pleas for rcy.

Qin Sisi stood a distance away, her face scrunched up, watching the couple make a spectacle out of the mourning rites. She knew they were not crying for the old man, but for themselves. Nevertheless, they had completed this step, which was not an easy feat for them.

Certain thods, such as the lure of money or intimidation, might achieve the end goal.

But an earnest heart and genuine feelings are not things that can be easily drawn out, no matter how shrewd and elaborate the thods are.

The selfishness and greed of the old man’s children were inherent qualities, not sothing that could be simply frightened away.

No matter what, the old man’s requests were grudgingly fulfilled.

Qin Sisi and Ye You exchanged a glance, and Ye You understood his intentions. Ye You drew another charm on the old man’s forehead to shield it from sunlight, then released his ghost from the Portable Space.

The old man looked sallow and lifeless, extrely frail and despondent, he looked incredibly aged.

Seeing his son and daughter-in-law dressed in mourning clothes, crying and praying by his grave, the old man finally managed a bitter smile.

At least he had received so form of affection, even if it were all a facade.

The old man staggered closer towards his grave, he looked weak and seed about to fall at any mont.

Qin Sisi couldn’t help but reach out, as if wanting to lend him a hand.

Ye You said, "Let him be alone for a while."

Qin Sisi glanced at Ye You and gave a slight nod.

A person might not want others to witness them at their most painful, heartbroken, and wretched monts.

As they wept, the eldest son and his wife tossed the yellow paper, joss paper, gold ingots etc. into the bronze bowl to burn, sending money to their dead father and hoping he’d peacefully depart, and stop haunting them.

The black ashes filled the bowl and, with the wind, stirred out and scattered all around.

The old man’s ghost slowly floated to his grave, bent down to gather the paper money that his children had burned for him. He then seated himself before the dishes, took out his broken bowl and chopsticks, and began to eat with large bites.

Whether real or not, it represented the filial piety from his children. It would beco a bragging point in the afterlife.

He could pretend to boast to others, "This is the money my children gave , and these delicious dishes are made by my children..."

Qin Sisi watched from afar for a while before turning silently to leave.

Rural graves were often situated in the fields, where tendrils of wheat were just sprouting, revealing a weathered gray-green under the howling cold wind.

The gloomy clouds lood overhead, not a hint of sunlight peeking through, which was suffocating.

As dusk fell, the ghost of the old man hovered in front of Qin Sisi. With oily crumbs at the corners of his mouth and a few pieces of vegetable trapped in his disheveled beard, his appearance was comical yet inexplicably poignant.

The old man bowed to Qin Sisi and thanked her with a hoarse voice, "Miss, I thank you."

Qin Sisi bit her lip and replied, "I’m sorry, I failed to persuade your second son."

The old man shook his head slightly. "One may escape the punishnt from heaven, but not for the sins they bring upon themselves."

Having nothing to say, Qin Sisi just let out a long sigh.

The old man looked up at Qin Sisi. A determination seeped into his voice, "Miss, my last wish has been fulfilled. I am willing to offer you my Soul Power."
