Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Karma of Good and Evil_1

The Ghost Path Taoist examined Qin Sisi for a mont, then slowly began to speak, "Young lady, I see in your face a gentle deanor and clear eyes. You are undoubtedly a person of goodness. However, if you associate with this creature, I fear your future will hold many tribulations and you may not et a good end."

To the Ghost Path Taoist, Ye You was neither human nor demon, neither immortal nor ghost. Unsure of what Ye You truly was, the Taoist simply referred to him as "this creature."

Qin Sisi’s heart pounded wildly as she stared at the Taoist in both fear and bewildernt.

"Shut up!" Ye You roared, fury blazing in his star-like eyes. His fangs flashed cold and sharp, his dark fur bristled, and a potent aura of death emanated from him.

But the Taoist remained unperturbed. He calmly looked at Ye You and said, "If I’m not mistaken, you’re gathering Soul Power, aren’t you?"

Ye You and Qin Sisi were both taken aback. They hadn’t expected this Ghost Path Taoist to not only possess profound mana, but also to have such extensive knowledge. The two exchanged a glance and chose to remain silent.

The Taoist didn’t press them further, instead he continued, "If that’s the case, why wouldn’t you agree to trade with Wang Dashan instead of severely injuring him?"

Seeing that the Taoist no longer spoke disrespectfully, Ye You’s murderous aura faded. However, he was determined not to engage further with this ancient ghost. His earlier comnt about Qin Sisi not eting a good end had caused waves of concern to crash within Ye You, which had yet to subside. Besides, the earlier fight had indeed drained his vigor. Therefore, Ye You chose to close his eyes, ignoring the Taoist’s inquiries altogether.

Qin Sisi hesitated for a mont, then responded, "We do not randomly kill innocents."

The Taoist scoffed, "Committing adultery and murdering her own husband, how can this woman be considered innocent?"

The Taoist’s cold gaze swept over Wang Juan and Lin Zheng. The scene before them had already frightened these two ordinary humans out of their wits. At the Taoist’s scrutiny, they clung to each other in terror, shaking like leaves. It seed as if they could et their end in the underworld at any second.

Qin Sisi rebutted, "You didn’t witness any of this yourself. You can’t simply assu based on Wang Dashan’s words alone. From my perspective, their words are more trustworthy than Wang Dashan’s."

A glimr of doubt flickered in the Taoist’s eyes. He hung his horsetail whisk on his waist, and slowly pushed out his palms. He then gathered a hint of Spiritual Power between his hands, and a small black vortex began swirling in the center of his palms.

Wang Dashan and Wang Juan started to drift towards the Taoist, seemingly drawn by a force. Their faces were filled with utter terror, but they didn’t have any strength to resist.

Eventually, Wang Dashan’s head ca to a rest against the Taoist’s left palm while Wang Juan’s head pressed against his right palm.

With his eyes appearing slightly closed, the Taoist murmured incantations, and the mories of Wang Dashan and Wang Juan since the day they t began playing in the Taoist’s mind like a riveting drama.

As ti trickled by, the Taoist’s face gradually darkened. Finally, he took a deep breath and released his hands. Wang Dashan and Wang Juan collapsed onto the ground, drained of energy.

Seeing this, Lin Zheng approached them unsteadily. Under the Taoist’s stern gaze, he fearfully carried Wang Juan away to a corner.

The Taoist’s gaze shifted from Lin Zheng to Wang Dashan. His voice was bone-chillingly cold as he said, "You lied to . Do you know what the consequence will be?"

Wang Dashan had already turned pale, shivering miserably. He pleaded, "rcy, Taoist. I’m the victim here. All I wanted was revenge."

The Taoist slowly shook his head, speaking in a low tone, "You show no remorse, still believing in your lies. I too was nearly lead astray by my biases. Considering you have not shown any sign of remorse, it’s best you depart from this mortal world completely."

With that said, the Taoist lightly waved his horsetail whisk. A wisp of ghost-like black smoke began to swirl, enveloping Wang Dashan within it.

Terror-stricken, Wang Dashan scread for rcy. But the Taoist remained indifferent, his face calm.

Qin Sisi turned her face away. Although the scene was frightening, Wang Dashan was reaping what he sowed. She couldn’t be kind to everyone.

Suddenly, Ye You leaped from Qin Sisi’s embrace onto her shoulder. A flash of purple light swiftly shot from his eyes, piercing directly into the black smoke surrounding Wang Dashan.

A mont later, several silver specks flickered with faint light and slowly floated out from the black smoke. They hovered around Ye You for a few rounds before completely disappearing into his ink-like body.

Ye You gave the Taoist a challenging look and said, "Leaving the soul to scatter and perish, what a waste."

Curious, Qin Sisi turned her head and asked, "What are you doing?"

Ye You replied, "I absorbed the soul power of that ghost to replenish myself."

Qin Sisi was taken aback. She rembered Ye You ntioning earlier that if the ghost didn’t keeps its word, he would absorb its soul power and let its soul scatter and vanish. Ye You had been serious about his words. She looked again at Ye You’s state and found him looking much better than when he had been injured.

By then, the black smoke surrounding Wang Dashan had started to fade. A few minutes later, the smoke dissipated completely. Wang Dashan’s ghost had vanished without a trace, it must have undergone what Ye You said, its soul scattering and perishing.

The Ghost Path Taoist exhaled lightly and turned to Ye You, "Since I was mistaken initially, I can offer a small gift as an apology," he said in a modest tone, which was a stark contrast to his previous sinister deanor. Qin Sisi couldn’t help but think better of the Taoist.

The Taoist took out a small brown porcelain bottle. He removed the wooden stopper, and a small bead emitting a faint blue glow floated out.

The Taoist waved his horsetail whisk lightly, seeming to guide the glow on its path. The bead then slowly moved towards Ye You.

Ye You’s eyes glinted, and he swiftly raised his claw. A flawless white porcelain bottle appeared mid-air in response to his movent.

Qin Sisi had seen once before. It was the Spirit Conversion Bottle, a tool used to refine and store soul power.

The luminescent bead quietly fell into the white porcelain bottle.

Ye You then flicked his claw again and the white porcelein bottle vanished into thin air.

"Thank you, Taoist," Ye You said, graciously thanking the Taoist. He was still resentful about the Taoist’s previous comnts about Qin Sisi, but he wasn’t going to overlook the unexpected gift of soul power. Ye You had not anticipated gaining anything tonight.

The Taoist said solemnly, "This man had a troubled life, a tragic origin, and did not wish to be reincarnated. As he was indebted to

for my help, he willingly bequeathed his soul power to . Since it’s of no use to , I think it’s best to give it to soone who needs it."

Ye You nodded and respectfully asked, "May I know your na, Taoist?"
