Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Misfortune and Fortune Have No Door, Only People Invite Them Themselves_1

The Taoist ghost pondered for a mont before answering,"I don’t rember much, it’s been such a long ti. Everyone just calls

Uncle Hong."

"Uncle Hong?" Ye You and Qin Sisi exchanged glances, both shaking their heads slightly. It seed neither of them recognized the na.

Ye You could tell that Uncle Hong had over a thousand years of mana because it was sothing he could sense using his own. However, he did not know the specifics of Uncle Hong’s history since he did not belong to the human world.

Qin Sisi might be from the sa world as Uncle Hong, but events that took place over a thousand years ago were too far back for her. History that trickles down through written records is but a drop in the ocean, and besides, Qin Sisi had never been particularly interested in things like the eight trigrams of Yin-Yang.

Uncle Hong barely smiled, utterly unconcerned that neither Ye You nor Qin Sisi had ever heard of him. Decades of life in the human world, over a thousand years lived in the ghost realm, countless cycles of flowers blooming and wilting, watching the stars move - such trivialities were as insignificant as dust in the wind.

Uncle Hong said gently to Qin Sisi, "Young lady, may I have your ti of birth to cast a fortune for you?"

Qin Sisi hesitated and looked at Ye You. Only after seeing him nod gently in approval did she confidently tell Uncle Hong her ti of birth.

Uncle Hong nodded, his silhouetted eyes closed, fingers on his right hand swiftly counting.

Ti ticked away. Qin Sisi was a mixture of anticipation and anxiety as she watched Uncle Hong. Ye You, also unable to blink, watched him intently while worrying inside. Yet, Uncle Hong’s expression grew increasingly stern.

After a long while, Uncle Hong lowered his right hand in what seed like exhaustion, opened his eyes, yet did not say anything for quite so ti.

Qin Sisi carefully asked, "Master, what is the result?"

Uncle Hong shook his head, looked at Qin Sisi with a complex gaze, and said," The past was clear, but the future beca more and more chaotic to the point of blankness. In my thousand years of existence, I have never encountered such a situation."

"So, you can’t figure it out," Ye You succinctly expressed Uncle Hong’s true aning. His tone was indifferent, but his heart was not as tranquil as he appeared to be on the surface.

Uncle Hong looked a bit awkward and apologetic as he glanced at Qin Sisi.

Qin Sisi was stunned for a mont, followed by a cheerful smile. "Master, you need not worry. If you couldn’t figure it out, it could simply an that my destiny holds many possibilities. What will happen in the future will undoubtedly depend on every choice I make."

Uncle Hong nodded in admiration and said, "The young lady has a point. Based on your ti of birth, theoretically you shouldn’t live past thirty. But the complexities of this world are indeed intricate. A small choice might affect a lifeti."

"Thank you, Master." Qin Sisi politely responded, then turned to look at Ye You. Uncle Hong said that she might not live over thirty, aligning with what Ye You had ntioned earlier. However, Ye You had already taken care of her parent’s spirits that were following her, so why would Uncle Hong still say she might not live past thirty years?

Ye You’s gaze lingered on Qin Sisi for a mont. Unavoidably, he worried. Was he the calamity that affected Qin Sisi’s destiny? He had resolved one disaster for her, but in doing so, did he bring about a new one?

Uncle Hong quietly observed the young lady and the cat, sighing to himself, "What is love in this world?"

Then, Uncle Hong took sothing out from his bosom and said to Qin Sisi, "Miss, eting you is indeed fate. Since I cannot help you resolve your disaster, let

give you a gift."

After that, he opened his palm and blew at the object. The lifeless item slowly ascended and gently floated towards Qin Sisi.

Qin Sisi opened her palm and the item gently landed on it. She examined it closely, marveling silently, "It’s so beautiful!"

The gift Uncle Hong gave was about the size of a one-dollar coin. It was round, crystal clear, smooth, and serene. Inside was a golden three-dinsional triangle, giving off a vibe similar to the Egyptian Pyramids.

Ye You glanced at it and said, "Golden Tower Phantom Crystal, quite a valuable item."

Qin Sisi curiously turned towards Ye You and asked, "Golden Pagoda Tranquil Spiritual Crystal? Is it very valuable?"

Ye You nodded, "Very valuable."

Qin Sisi pondered for a mont and said to Uncle Hong, "Thank you, Uncle Hong, but this gift is too precious. I can’t accept it."

As she spoke, she was about to return the Golden Tower Phantom Crystal to Uncle Hong but Ye You whispered in her ear, "Why aren’t you accepting it? When given a gift, just keep it."

Qin Sisi whispered back, "We’re re acquaintances. How can I accept such an expensive gift from him? Besides, there’s no such thing as a free lunch, is there?"

If you accept a favor, you give up control. She and Uncle Hong weren’t close. What if he had ulterior motives and asked her for sothing in return by using this gift? Would she not then be controlled by him?

Qin Sisi was afraid Uncle Hong would hear her, so she deliberately lowered her voice. But how could she escape the ears of a thousand-year-old ghost?

Uncle Hong chuckled and said heartily," Young lady, keep it. You’ll need it in the future."

Then, Uncle Hong glanced at Ye You and said aningfully, "One who ties the bell should untie it. Take care, both of you. I’ll take my leave now."

Before Ye You and Qin Sisi could say anything else, Uncle Hong’s figure had already drifted out of the door and disappeared in the blink of an eye. Amidst the chilly autumn wind, the shifting sounds of jade in the distance echoed clearly in their ears, "Disasters and blessings do not knock on the door; people summon them themselves. Retribution for good and evil follows us like a shadow."

Qin Sisi and Ye You exchanged glances, their hearts filled with curiosity about the words of the mysterious, elusive Taoist ghost. Yet, it wouldn’t be right to go after him. They decided to take care of the current situation instead.

Qin Sisi walked over to Lin Zheng and Wang Juan, who were shaking with fear. Ye You remained sitting on Qin Sisi’s shoulder, his purple eyes as calm as always, quiet and deep.

Wang Juan was too frightened to speak. Lin Zheng stuttered, "Mis...miss, we really haven’t done anything that horribly wrong."

As Qin Sisi looked at the two holding each other tightly, she felt a mixture of pity and warmth.

In tis of disaster, married couples often flew in different directions. Although these two were not officially a couple, they were still able to stand by each other in the face of danger, even sacrificing for the other. Perhaps this was true love.

Then, Qin Sisi said kindly, "Let’s put an end to this matter. And rember, don’t utter a word about anything that happened tonight."

"Ye...yes..." Lin Zheng imdiately complied. While Wang Juan was unable to speak, she rapidly nodded in agreent.

Then, Ye You whispered sothing into Qin Sisi’s ear. Qin Sisi looked at Ye You in astonishnt, her eyebrows furrowing.
