Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Late-night Flight_1

Qin Sisi turned her head to the side, subtly curving her lips in a place where Ye You couldn’t see, then she turned back to face Ye You and said, "Alright, I’ll continue with the training."

Having said that, Qin Sisi closed her eyes again, steeled her spirit, and prepared to once again summon the Wings of Rainbow.

Ye You sat on the couch watching her. Her fragility, her strength, her cuteness, her bravery, her kindness, her persistence... everything about her projected clearly into his purple eyes, becoming enduring mories that couldn’t be shaken off.

How many tis had she practiced? Ten tis? Twenty tis? or even thirty tis?

Qin Sisi felt her bond with the Wings of Rainbow becoming more natural. She could even leave the ground for a short distance under the guidance of the Wings of Rainbow. Just as she was delighted by her progress, Ye You suddenly said, "Stop."

Qin Sisi stopped and looked at Ye You in confusion, asking, "What’s wrong?"

Ye You, looking at the beaded sweat on Qin Sisi’s forehead and her flushed cheeks, felt a pang of concern. He said softly, "Your magic is still weak, it can’t take too intensive training. We have to go ghost hunting later, you need to conserve so stamina, don’t wear yourself out."

Upon hearing this, Qin Sisi felt a bit tired indeed. "Alright, I’ll listen to you." Qin Sisi gave Ye You a cooperative smile, then went to the bathroom to wash her face. By the ti she ca out, Ye You was already lying on the bed.

Seeing Qin Sisi co out, Ye You said, "There’s still so ti, you rest a bit first. I’ll wake you up when it’s ti."

Qin Sisi slowly walked over and laid down on the bed, looking at Ye You’s eyes, glowing purple, she asked quietly, "Aren’t you going to have a bit of sleep?"

Ye You shook his head, "No, I’ll sleep during the day tomorrow."

"Hm." Qin Sisi responded softly, then turned over and closed her eyes.

Ye You watched Qin Sisi as she slowly drifted into sleep. A long while later, he turned to look out of the window into the dark night, he let out a barely audible sigh, lost in thought.

As midnight approached, Ye You woke Qin Sisi up, "Get up, it’s ti to go."

Qin Sisi quickly hopped off the bed, tidied her clothes, put her shoes on quickly, and tied her long hair back into a neat ponytail. She then turned to Ye You and asked, "Do I need to prepare anything else?"

In Ye You’s claw-like hand, a sparkling light flickered.

"Catch."

Upon hearing Ye You’s words, Qin Sisi instinctively spread out her palm. A rope emitting a faint light fell into her hand. The light faded away a mont later, restoring the object to its original appearance.

Qin Sisi carefully examined the rope in her hand. The rope seed to be less than a ter long, and its deep black color was remarkably similar to Ye You’s fur. One end of the rope was thicker and sported a small piece of sothing that looked like bone, pale and warm to the touch. At the other, thinner end, there was a tiny white object, cold to the touch, which emitted a chilly glint under the light.

Qin Sisi curiously asked, "What’s this?"

Ye You answered, "The Divine Dog’s Fury, a weapon made for vanquishing demons."

Indeed, it was as wonderful as the Wings of Rainbow!

Inwardly stunned, Qin Sisi delicately brushed her fingers over the black body of the Divine Dog’s Fury. After a mont of studying it, she pointed to the thin end, "It seems to be a tooth."

Ye You nodded, "Correct."

Just as Qin Sisi was about to ask more, Ye You interrupted, "I’ll explain in detail later, let’s first do what we need to do."

Understanding the importance of the situation, Qin Sisi no longer probed, she put away the rope and prepared to leave the apartnt.

But Ye You stopped her and leaped onto the windowsill, "We’ll leave from here."

Qin Sisi was surprised, "Really? We’re on the sixth floor!"

Ye You just looked at her with his serious purple eyes and said nothing.

Qin Sisi paused montarily before continuing: "I know what you an, but I’m not confident in my control over Wings of the Rainbow yet. I’m scared..."

Still, Ye You remained silent. Using his claw-like paw, he pushed open the window, letting in the cool autumn breeze. The curtains fluttered, dancing an eerie dance.

Qin Sisi shivered, and yet she knew she couldn’t change Ye You’s decision. She climbed onto the windowsill, mustering her courage. With a swift leap, Ye You landed lightly on her shoulder, encouraging her with his words, "Co on, I believe you can do it."

Qin Sisi clenched her fists tightly and focused hard, recalling the process and feelings of communicating with the Wings of Rainbow. She bravely commanded, "Wings of Rainbow."

As expected, the luminous rainbow wings unfolded rapidly. They flapped gently against the dark blue night sky, their vibrant glow emanating a beautiful light reflecting the silver moonlight.

"Jump," Ye You whispered into Qin Sisi’s ear.

Gritting her teeth, Qin Sisi plunged down. The Wings of Rainbow were suddenly subject to gravity and couldn’t adjust imdiately. Qin Sisi descended sharply.

"Ah!" Qin Sisi couldn’t help but scream. She frantically tried to control the Wings of Rainbow to regain her balance.

The distance of several ters passed quickly. As the ground was about to hit her, Qin Sisi managed to regain control, barely keeping balance. With the giant Wings of Rainbow fluttering, she began flying slowly towards the horizon. Ye You, on her shoulder, heaved a sigh of relief.

She was still far from mastering it. Despite Qin Sisi’s best effort to control the Wings of Rainbow, she could only fly just a couple of ters above the ground, and she was shaking all the while.

Ye You on Qin Sisi’s shoulder felt a little disappointed as he compared her to his own ti learning the Wings of Rainbow. He was only five when he started, and he was much better then.

However, seeing the resolve in Qin Sisi’s eyes and her concerted effort, Ye You cheered up. After all, she was a normal human being with no supernatural powers. The fact that she could do this much in such a short ti was impressive. He resolved not to be too demanding.

Ye You put his thoughts aside and keenly watched Qin Sisi’s movents, half admiring her persistent effort, half on alert to help in case she lost balance.

Biting down on her teeth, Qin Sisi slowly flew towards the direction of the dumpling shop. Her pace was undoubtedly slow for the capabilities of the Wings of Rainbow, but it was much faster than walking. In less than half an hour, they were already getting close to the street where the dumpling shop was located.

Even though it was late into the night and the streets should have been quiet and deserted, nothing in the world was absolute. As soon as they rounded a corner, Qin Sisi noticed two n walking towards them from a distance.
