Chapter 24: Chapter 24: The Fierce Ghost Demands a Life_1

The two people, chatting and staggering as they walked, appeared to have drunk a lot, their tongues all tied up in knots, but still shouting incessantly.

Qin Sisi began to feel a bit flustered. The appearance of the Wings of Rainbow was so conspicuous that anyone who was not blind would imdiately be drawn to these grand, dazzling wings. Once the word got out, a "flying man" with wings and a cat on his shoulders, flying around in the middle of the night, might quickly beco the talk of the town. After that, how would she and Ye You ever go out again?

Desperate, Qin Sisi poured all her strength into flapping the Wings of Rainbow, elevating her flight a bit higher, barely flying above the heads of the two n.

It’s over! Now for sure they could see her clearly.

With a sigh from the bottom of her heart, she turned to look at Ye You on her shoulder for help.

However, Ye You seed completely unaware of the problem, looking ahead unwaveringly.

Feeling perplexed, Qin Sisi looked back at the two n who were stumbling along arm in arm, talking loudly in an incoherent manner, and one of them even began to sing out of tune. Surprisingly, they seed not to have noticed Qin Sisi and her vivid, noticeable wings at all.

Even if drunk people were slow to respond, they shouldn’t have ignored such a conspicuous scene!

With a puzzled frown, Qin Sisi suddenly had a lightbulb mont and asked Ye You: "Was it you?"

Considering his previous careful considerations, it seed unlikely that Ye You would allow such a disadvantageous situation to occur.

Ye You didn’t mince words but directly admitted: "I used the Invisible Bubble."

Invisible Bubble? Another magical item. Though she didn’t fully understand it, Qin Sisi guessed that Ye You used so magic or magical tool to make them invisible, which was why the two n didn’t see them passing by.

Who knew how many treasures Ye You had hidden? But where did he hide all these treasures when he seed to have no pockets? Could it be in the family skill he ntioned before - the Portable Space?

While Qin Sisi’s mind was once again filled with various questions, the sign for the dumpling shop ca into sight. Sisi could only suppress all her questions and focus her attention on their mission.

Landing in front of the dumpling shop’s door, Qin Sisi softly said, "Withdraw," and the Wings of Rainbow obediently retracted into her body as though it was a simpler task than controlling them.

Watching Qin Sisi’s practiced and fluid movents, the whiskers on Ye You’s mouth curved upward in satisfaction.

She pushed the door but found it was locked from the inside. "What should we do?" Qin Sisi looked up at Ye You.

"No problem," Ye You replied casually. He stared at the lock and blinked his eyes. A purple light shot out and the lock fell to the ground with a clang.

Qin Sisi pushed the door open and walked into the shop shrouded in darkness. Though the moon was bright outside, the windows of the shop were tightly closed with just a few faint rays of light seeping in.

Just as Qin Sisi was groping about for a light switch, the lights suddenly turned on.

Blinded by the abrupt brightness, Qin Sisi instinctively used her arm to shield her eyes. She lowered her arm and looked up after a few seconds.

She had thought that the sound of the falling lock had awakened soone in the shop, but after glancing around, she didn’t see anyone else.

When Qin Sisi shot an inquiring look at Ye You, he gave her a playful wink, the corner of his mouth curling up in a barely noticeable smile.

She suddenly rembered the night she brought Ye You ho. The corridor lights had all co on as she climbed the stairs even though several of them were broken. She had thought it was the building managent’s doing. It now seed that Ye You must have been responsible.

Returning to the matter at hand, Qin Sisi whispered, "What do we do now?"

Ye You replied, "I’ll take down the wards. He should show himself then. He won’t be able to hear , so it’s up to you."

"Alright." Qin Sisi agreed, her eyes darting around, unsure of where the fierce ghost would erge.

Ye You raised his claw high and from it flew two glowing characters, one above the entrance and the other underneath the table they had used to eat yesterday. Though she didn’t recognize or had ever seen these characters, they must be the wards Ye You had ntioned to control the fierce ghost’s spiritual power and prevent him from escaping.

The two glowing characters flew towards Ye You and disappeared when they touched his raised claw.

All was quiet again, so quiet that Qin Sisi could hear her own breathing. She watched her surroundings cautiously, sweat pearling on her palms, yet her eyes shone with resolve.

Out of the silence, a chilling coldness suddenly filled the air.

Qin Sisi tightened the grip on her clothes and noticed a misty black figure appearing not too far away. The black mist kept swirling, gradually forming a human silhouette that beca increasingly clearer until it was indistinguishable from an ordinary person.

A short, rather overweight middle-aged man now stood before Qin Sisi and Ye You, dressed in a light grey coat and dark grey trousers. His plain clothes and average appearance made him look like any ordinary passerby.

Upon judging by his outward appearance, it was rather hard to relate him to the term "fierce ghost."

However, appearances can be deceiving. At this mont, the man looked extrely angry and vicious, his eyes locked on Qin Sisi as he snarled, "Impudent girl, you dare sabotage my plans, I’ll kill you!"

Even before he had finished speaking, the man had already transford back into a black mist, rushing at Qin Sisi in a flash.

With a startled step backward, Qin Sisi realized she had been preparing for a negotiation. Even if a fight was to ensue, they should have talked first and only considered violence if diplomacy failed. She had not expected the fierce ghost to be so savage, lunging to attack her the mont he appeared.

Seeing the black mist closing on her in an instant, Qin Sisi’s complexion went pale. Her left arm instinctively shielded her head and she gripped the Divine Dog’s Fury tightly in her right hand, swinging it with all her might, calling out nervously, "Xiao Hei!"

The next second, a harsh scream followed by a loud crashing sound echoed in the room.

Sensing sothing was off, Qin Sisi quickly raised her head to see the fierce ghost lying on the ground, wailing in pain. On either side of him were the broken halves of a table - apparently, he had been knocked onto the table, breaking it in his fall.
