Chapter 161: Chapter 161: Preparing for One’s Own End_1
And there was also the odd-looking black cat, sitting steadily on Qin Sisi’s shoulder, not at all panicking, its deep eyes cool and haughty.
These unusual occurrences made Lin Shan Shan more alert. She looked at Qin Sisi and asked, "Sisi, who exactly are you?"
Feeling Lin Shan Shan’s estrangent, Qin Sisi could only respond with a sigh of resignation, "I’m a mage and I can see ghosts."
"Well..." Lin Shan Shan let out a bitter laugh with an expression that was both amused and anguished. Her eyes were filled with disbelief, she murmured to herself, "The world has gone mad. My best friend turns out to be a mage who can see ghosts..."
Qin Sisi sighed and said, "I know you don’t believe it, but I will make you believe."
Qin Sisi turned to Ye You who had been following at her feet, and extended her hand whispering, "Could you give
a Revealing Soul Pill please?"
Ye You extended his paw and placed it into Qin Sisi’s hand. When he retracted his paw, there was now a gleaming golden pill in Sisi’s palm.
Watching the interaction between Qin Sisi and Ye You, Lin Shan Shan was dumbfounded and speechless.
Qin Sisi passed the Revealing Soul Pill to the ghost of Lin Ying.
Lin Ying hesitated before accepting it and nervously asked, "Will this work?"
Qin Sisi spoke in a deep voice, "It will work. The one who causes the problem should be the one to solve it. Talk to her properly, otherwise, she might live her entire life in guilt."
Lin Ying nodded and swallowed the Revealing Soul Pill.
A few minutes later, Lin Ying’s figure appeared in the weakly lit mortuary—appearing in a plain and elegant dress, her face peaceful yet serene. Her loving eyes gently sprinkling soft light on Lin Shan Shan like the bright moon.
Lin Shan Shan’s mouth opened wide in astonishnt and it took her long to close it.
"Shan Shan, co." Lin Ying gently smiled and stretched out her hand.
With a mix of shock and joy, Lin Shan Shan rushed to Lin Ying like a small bird, and held onto her tightly.
After a mont, Lin Shan Shan let go, squeezing Lin Ying’s face and arm, alternately bursting into laughter and crying, "Sister, you’re not really dead, right? I just knew it, you couldn’t leave ."
Lin Ying’s expression froze for a mont, she held Lin Shan Shan’s face and spoke reluctantly, "Shan Shan, listen to
carefully. I’ve actually died. What you see now is just my ghost."
Lin Shan Shan unbelievingly shook her head, she ran to the bed where Lin Ying’s body laid, and pulled back the white cloth.
As expected, Lin Ying still lay there, cold and rigid, not moving.
Lin Shan Shan stepped back weakly as tears rolled down her face.
With a pained heart, Lin Ying walked over, enveloping Shan Shan in her arms and said, "Dear sister, the dead can’t be revived. Try to look at it in a positive way, okay? Don’t make it hard for
to leave in peace."
"Sister..." Lin Shan Shan could no longer control herself and cried loudly in Lin Ying’s arms.
Lin Ying was also teary-eyed.
Qin Sisi felt like her throat was blocked with a cotton ball, making it difficult for her to speak.
Qin Sisi took a few deep breaths, forcing her emotions in check. She walked to the sisters and said, "The Revealing Soul Pill will only last for twenty-four hours. Take your ti to say your goodbyes. I will co back tomorrow at the sa ti."
Lin Ying gratefully looked at Qin Sisi and smiled, nodding her head.
Lin Shan Shan held onto Qin Sisi’s hand and choked out, "Sisi, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have doubted you."
Qin Sisi gave a slight smile, she gently shook her head signaling that it didn’t matter, then patted Lin Shan Shan’s hand and said softly, "I should leave now. Spend so quality ti talking to your sister."
Lin Shan Shan acknowledged it with teary eyes.
Qin Sisi let go of Shan Shan’s hand and walked out of the mortuary, securing the door behind her.
Ye You swiftly followed her, and after so distance, he suddenly jumped into Qin Sisi’s arms.
Qin Sisi acted almost reflexively to Ye You’s actions, whenever he jumped, she would subconsciously hold him tight.
Qin Sisi stretched out her hand and gently stroked Ye You’s soft fur and sighed.
Seeing Qin Sisi’s reddening eyes, Ye You’s gaze darkened. Feelings of remorse entangled his heart.
The day was still breaking, with the early pedestrians appearing on the street.
Despite the early hour, there are usually taxis at the hospital entrance. Qin Sisi took a taxi and headed back to a ho she hadn’t seen in several days.
Even though she had managed to nap a bit during the over seven hours on the train, it was not a restful sleep. Then she ca across Lin Ying and Lin Shan Shan’s ordeal and stayed up all night. Qin Sisi was virtually drained.
So, as soon as she entered her ho, Qin Sisi wanted to throw herself onto the bed. But seeing her sowhat wrinkled clothes, she held back.
She was still wearing the clothes from the train, through the disorderly and cramped environnt, the accident scene, and finally the hospital mortuary. It was untenable to get into the bed with these clothes on!
Thus, Qin Sisi sat on the sofa to rest for a bit.
Ye You was propped up on her shoulder, and softly suggested, "You must be exhausted. Why don’t you take a bath and rest awhile?"
Looking at Ye You’s concerned eyes, Qin Sisi felt embarrassed to admit she was actually too tired to even take a bath.
Qin Sisi forced herself to get up and walk to the bathroom, quickly showering and changing into her long-sleeved pajamas. Finally feeling relieved, she collapsed on her bed, hugging Ye You and falling into a deep sleep.
anwhile, in the hospital mortuary, Lin Shan Shan and her sister Lin Ying comforted each other for a while before leaving the hospital. Before they left, they rembered to pay the storage fee for Lin Ying’s body.
Even as both sisters had tears sparkling at the edges of their eyes, they forced reassuring smiles on their faces. They chatted away like they always did. They didn’t take a ride but walked hand in hand to the place that sells special items.
There was a street not far from the hospital that dealt in items for the deceased—coffins, shrouds, wreaths, spirit money, and other goods on sale.
The two sisters walked slowly to that street, under Lin Shan Shan’s suggestion, Lin Ying began shopping for items needed for her own funeral.
After visiting a few stores, they realized that dealing with death was a rather cumberso affair. There were a lot of different and weird things to prepare for.
After purchasing the coffin, wreaths, and shroud, Lin Ying was taken aback by the embroidered funeral shoes.
The deep blue color was as serene as the night sky, embroidered with blooming lotus flowers and little leaves, extrely delicate workmanship.
Lin Shan Shan also exclaid from the side, "Sister, these shoes are just beautiful. They should fit you completely."
The shopkeeper who was serving the custors looked dismayed, thinking she had encountered two clueless girls. She quickly explained, "Ladies, these are funeral shoes, not embroidered shoes you play with. Please don’t cause a scene here!"
Lin Ying softly smiled and said, "Madam, we truly want to buy funeral shoes."
