Chapter 160: Chapter 160: Different Paths for Humans and Ghosts _1

After Lin Shan entered the house, she turned on all the lights, checked every room, and wondered to herself in bewildernt, "Is my sister really not at ho? Where has she gone?"

Qin Sisi glanced at Lin Ying standing next to Lin Shan, wanting to say sothing but hesitated.

Lin Shan walked to Qin Sisi and said anxiously, "Sisi, have you seen my sister? Where has she gone? It’s so late now. Please ask her to co ho. I promise I’ll behave myself and never upset her again."

As Lin Shan said those words, tears nearly welled up in her eyes. Struggling with Wei Ruhai’s advances, she was torn between wanting to accept him and knowing that she shouldn’t. She was exhausted from the daily conflict between her feelings and her rationality.

Lin Ying could see the dilemma, and tried to subtly hint at it several tis. Lin Shan refused to admit it, but she was torn inside.

This ti she gave in to the temptation and went to the hotel with Wei Ruhai. Her sister must be furious!

Seeing that Qin Sisi was silent, Lin Shan grew more anxious. Suddenly, she rembered her phone, hurriedly took it out, and dialed Lin Ying’s number. But of course, no one answered.

Lin Shan had no idea that Lin Ying was in trouble and thought Lin Ying was ignoring her. She grabbed Qin Sisi’s arm and choked out, "Sisi, I beg you, tell my sister that nothing happened between Wei and . I promise I’ll stay away from him in the future. Can you ask her to co ho soon?"

Looking at Lin Shan, who was on the verge of tears, Qin Sisi felt sympathy and helplessness. Finally, she murmured, "Shan Shan, do you believe in ghosts?"

"What?" Lin Shan didn’t understand Qin Sisi’s aning and looked at her in confusion.

Suddenly, a series of fast-paced ringtones sounded. Lin Shan saw the na displayed on the phone screen: Lin Ying.

Greatly relieved, Lin Shan eagerly answered the call, shouting, "Sister..."

Instead of a familiar voice, a clear, low male voice ca from the other end, "Hello, are you familiar with the owner of this phone?"

Lin Shan was stunned, a bad feeling gradually rising. She faltered, "Who are you? Where is my sister?"

The voice on the other end said, "I’m a police officer. The owner of this phone was in a car accident and is being rescued at the S City First Hospital. If you’re her family, please co over imdiately. If you’re not, could you please help us..."

It was as if Lin Shan had been viciously struck. She loudly interrupted the police officer, shouting into the phone, "A car accident? What car accident? Where is my sister? Is she okay?"

The police officer on the other end was silent for a mont before he said, "Madam, if you are her family, please co to the hospital imdiately."

It felt like a bucket of cold water had been poured over Lin Shan from head to toe. The phone slipped from her hand and fell to the ground with a ’clack’. Her face turned ashen.

Qin Sisi picked up Lin Shan’s phone and communicated with the police officer for a while before hanging up.

Looking at Lin Shan’s devastated appearance, Qin Sisi’s heart ached. She gently took Lin Shan’s hand and said, "Shan Shan, let’s go to the hospital."

Lin Shan turned to look at Qin Sisi, and said in a daze, "Yes, the hospital. Sisi, my sister is going to be fine, right?"

Qin Sisi didn’t know how to answer, so she said reassuringly, "Don’t panic, we’ll know once we get to the hospital."

So, the two who just arrived ho went down the stairs again and rushed to the hospital.

Lin Ying did not go through extensive resuscitation. After the doctors arrived, they took her back to the hospital, carried out so resuscitation procedures, and quickly confird Lin Ying’s death.

When Qin Sisi and Lin Shan arrived at the hospital, Lin Ying’s body had already been placed in the morgue.

Two police officers were sitting outside the door. They quickly went through a few questions and ushered them inside.

Standing at the entrance of the morgue, Lin Shan stared at the glaring white of the room, and suddenly lost the nerve to go any closer.

Sighing, Qin Sisi said, "Let’s go in."

However cruel reality is, we still have to face it.

Qin Sisi held onto Lin Shan’s arm and led her to the body covered with a white cloth.

After hesitating for a long ti, Lin Shan finally lifted the edge of the white cloth with trembling hands. Lin Ying’s pale and peaceful face ca into view.

"Sister!" Lin Shan cried out, then suddenly let go of Qin Sisi and ran towards the door.

A doctor wearing a white coat happened to be passing by. Lin Shan rushed up to him, grabbed his arm, and pleaded desperately, "Doctor, please save my sister. Please, she won’t die. She even called

just now."

Qin Sisi and the two policen hurriedly tried to console Lin Shan, but Lin Shan held onto the doctor’s coat stubbornly. By the ti Qin Sisi and the others finally managed to pull Lin Shan away, the doctor’s coat was torn.

The ghost of Lin Ying, who had remained by Lin Shan’s side, also wept silently when she saw her sister’s state, sighing with helplessness.

Qin Sisi hurriedly apologized to the doctor.

The young doctor looked helplessly at his torn coat and said in a gentle voice, "It’s okay, it’s okay. I understand."

After a long bout of heart-wrenching crying, Lin Shan’s emotions finally began to calm sowhat.

As daylight began to break, the two policen gave a brief rundown of what to do next and left. Only Qin Sisi and Lin Shan remained in the quiet morgue.

Lin Shan was sprawled in front of the bed where Lin Ying’s body lay, too choked up to catch her breath.

Qin Sisi looked around, then slowly squatted down and pressed on Lin Shan’s shoulders. She softly said, "Shan Shan, do you rember the question I asked you?"

Lin Shan seed not to have heard, engrossed in her own grief.

So Qin Sisi repeated the question, "Shan Shan, do you believe in ghosts?"

Lin Shan’s eyes moved slightly, and she looked at Qin Sisi vacantly. Her voice hoarse, she asked, "Sisi, what are you trying to say?"

Seeing that Lin Shan was responsive, Qin Sisi felt sowhat relieved. She lowered her voice and said, "Shan Shan, if I told you that your sister’s ghost is right here beside you, would you believe it?"

Lin Shan’s body shivered, and she looked around fearfully. Seeing nothing unusual, she turned back to Qin Sisi and said, "Sisi, don’t scare ."

Qin Sisi shook her head and said, "Shan Shan, your sister loves you more than anyone else. Even as a ghost, she still loves you. You shouldn’t be afraid."

"But... but, are there really ghosts?" Lin Shan’s eyes widened in fear and curiosity.

Qin Sisi tightly held Lin Shan’s cold hand and said soothingly, "Shan Shan, believe , your sister is right here, watching you. The state you’re in is making her sad."

A wide range of emotions overwheld Lin Shan. Suddenly, she rembered the events of the previous night: Qin Sisi had sprouted a pair of colorful wings from her back and flown over the city with her.
