Crack! A thunderbolt exploded outside, and Xiao Buli felt secretly relieved that he had moved quickly, otherwise the thunder might have struck him as well. Looking at the torrential downpour outside, Xiao Buli figured it wouldn't stop anyti soon. Since he had already co this far, he might as well go in for a look.

He took out the Glowing Light Sword and channeled his Internal Energy into it, and the sword imdiately lit up like a giant glow stick, illuminating the surrounding area.

Xiao Buli walked inside with the sword in hand, and after only a couple steps, he was suddenly tripped by sothing. A sound like wood knocking together reached his ears. Xiao Buli steadied himself and shined the sword on the ground, revealing a skeleton.

Xiao Buli crouched down; in this heat, bodies deteriorated quickly. Looking at the remains, which still clung to so rotten fabric, he guessed the death hadn't been too long ago.

The body leaned against a stone pillar inside the building, still showing signs of its last struggle. Xiao Buli inspected it and a line of text appeared before him: "Wuming's corpse: available for collection."

He chose to collect, and suddenly his hand was filled with items, while the body slumped over, completely falling apart.

Xiao Buli looked at the items that appeared in his palm, his pupils contracting involuntarily. His nerves felt as if they had been seared by fire.

Green Dragon Adventure Group Emblem: This was a mber's emblem of the renowned Green Dragon Adventure Group, representing the identity of its mbers.

The Green Dragon Adventure Group? That na was surely no coincidence. If Xiao Buli wasn't mistaken, the man must have been one of the mbers from the Green Dragon Group who entered the ga. It seed that the system in this world had granted them a new identity and background.

He illuminated the rest of the remains with the sword light, looking carefully. From the tattered and easily broken scraps of fabric, he could faintly make out that this might be a mber of the White Tiger Group. If he was here, could the others be here too? Where were they?

Xiao Buli imdiately got up and moved forward, searching carefully along the way. The further he went, the more alard he beca. Along the way, he encountered a total of eleven corpses, collecting eleven Green Dragon Adventure Group emblems, which ant without a doubt, all of them were mbers from the ga, although the bodies had deteriorated badly and it was hard to tell who was who. But for Xiao Buli, they all ant the sa thing; they had once been alive like him, turned into this state by this damned ga.

Xiao Buli continued collecting the bones; so had been torn apart, possibly by so beast, but it was clear they had endured a fierce battle before death, with so limbs lying far from their bodies.

Xiao Buli suppressed the sorrow in his heart, his body trembling non-stop. He felt as if his strength had been drained from him, not just because he and they had once fought side by side as brothers, but because he saw in them what might be his own future.

Xiao Buli propped up himself and sat down exhausted on the ground, his mind involuntarily going to Li Baocheng. What on earth was this ga? Why did it strip away the will of people, why?

Although he could sit here safely for the mont, how long could it last? Even if he continued to enhance his abilities, this sense of powerlessness, not knowing whom he was fighting against, filled him with uncertainty for the future.

"What a fuck," Xiao Buli froze. Had he just heard sothing?

"Hey, I say, this thing is pretty annoying, how about I take your place and finish the rest of the journey for you?"

"You?" Xiao Buli could hardly believe it.

```
"No, it's , I am you, and you are . You shouldn't feel unfamiliar with , right?" Xiao Buli felt as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over his head. That voice, it was actually his Heart Demon.
"But you left already," Xiao Buli struggled to calm himself down.
"En~~, are you talking about my predecessor? I saw him in your mory, but sorry to say, his departure doesn't an you're free. Likewise, even if I leave one day, or if you destroy , it doesn't an you're free either. A different '' will erge, because I am you and you are . As long as you're alive, you'll carry the burden of , hehe, how about that, isn't it quite a tongue-twister?" That voice even joked nonchalantly with Xiao Buli.
"FUCK, what the hell are you?!" Xiao Buli yelled loudly, thinking he had rid himself of the Heart Demon, only to find that it was as difficult to eliminate as a virus. His mood was already sour, and this just made him completely lose his mind. "If you have the guts, co out. I'm going to strangle you!!"
"Wow, haha, looks like you're really fired up. Relax, I can't just replace you right away. I still need so ti to grow before I can do that," said the voice, still sounding carefree, like a fool who didn't know the aning of death.
Xiao Buli felt like his chest was going to burst, all the irritations of the past days like a fierce fire stuck in his chest. He suddenly lept up from where he was sitting, let out a roar, and began frantically swinging his sword at the surrounding walls and stone pillars.
Sparks flew as the Glowing Light Sword struck the rock, the buzzing of tal vibrating echoing within the great hall. Xiao Buli continued his frenzied slashing, venting the rage in his heart, spouting nonsensical words until he didn't even know what he was shouting about anymore—until his saliva sprayed wildly, even splashing his own face. Suddenly, as if realizing sothing, Xiao Buli abruptly stopped the swinging light of his sword. What was happening to him? Was it simply rage?
He suddenly thought of those with Soul Departure Syndro, who also started by going mad. This thought rapidly cooled his mind. He rembered what Xuan Zhenzi had said: that he had delayed the onset of his Soul Departure Syndro through ntal suppression. If that was true, then he should maintain his calm under any circumstance.
He stopped moving, leaning against a nearby stone pillar, panting heavily as he tried to steady himself.
"O~K, now that you've cald down, we need to seriously consider the problems we're facing. After all, we share one body; I don't want you dying so soon," the voice resounded in Xiao Buli's mind. Reluctant as he was, Xiao Buli had to accept the reality.
"What now?" he asked weakly.
By then it had grown completely dark outside the temple, as pitch black inside as if midnight, except for the white glow of the light shield around Xiao Buli; nothing could be seen in the distance.
The voice cautiously said, "I suggest you look directly in front of you. I feel like there's sothing very dangerous there."
Xiao Buli was unsure whether he should heed its advice, for deep in his heart, he knew the Heart Demon was an evil presence, a devil coveting his body.
Just then, lightning streaked across the entrance of the cave, and although it lasted only a few seconds, Xiao Buli saw it. His body tensed as he stood up straight, quickly putting on the Betrayer's Dark Vision, and the world before him ca into clear view. A large pit in front of him yawned open like a gaping maw, or a grave dug in readiness. Across the open ground between him and the giant pit, groups of creatures with human heads and snake bodies were slithering towards him.
More things were slowly erging from within the pit, indicating that there were more creatures than just the ones he could see. These creatures strongly resembled the statues he had seen outside the hall, except for their true forms not being as tall; he estimated each creature to be about two ters, although their serpentine way of moving on the ground made it difficult to ascertain for sure. For so reason, their movents seed sowhat sluggish, the continuous writhing of their bodies was indescribably strange.
Suddenly, one of the creatures raised its head, which it had been keeping low. Its blood-red eyes had black pupils like thin lines, and its wide-open mouth revealed two sharp fangs, making a rasping sound. Xiao Buli steadied himself, gripping the sword in his hand. No matter what these creatures were, he could be certain that the mbers of the Green Dragon Group were likely killed by these monsters. Xiao Buli's body exuded a fighting spirit, his eyes filled with a bloodthirsty light. (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, you are welco to vote for it, or leave a monthly vote at Qidian ].
