Xiao Buli felt a tightness around his neck and imdiately breathing beca difficult, but the current Xiao Buli was no longer the novice he used to be, not to ntion his Dark Gold-level equipnt wasn't for show. Although his vital spot was grasped, the effect of the Heart of the Earth ant he didn't feel too uncomfortable. As he infused Sunfire True Qi into Glowing Light in his hand, the sword grew intensely hot, which he knew was effective against plants. With a flick of his wrist, he whipped a sword flower and sliced towards the trailing vines behind him. However, the vines were extrely agile and repeated their previous maneuver, swiftly retracting before tossing Xiao Buli towards another vine. The vines were tossing him around as adeptly as a basketball player passing the ball, as if they shared the sa will. Xiao Buli, however, had learned his lesson and wouldn't fall for the sa trick easily.
In midair, Xiao Buli executed a Chaotic Shadow Split, and suddenly five or six shadows appeared in the air, while his actual body vanished from sight. Twisting his waist, he changed direction. The shadows were caught by several vines at the sa ti, but of course, those were re illusions. They burst into smoke and disappeared with a pop.
The vines montarily lost their target, writhing like venomous snakes in the air, searching for another prey.
Xiao Buli twisted his body and gently touched down to the ground. Now he could see clearly, the stone statue before him was no longer covered by plants, fully revealed in his sight. It was a stone carving of a human head on a snake's body, with a ferocious expression and huge fangs protruding from its lips. The pupils in the human head's eyes were narrow, making it look as malevolent as a venomous snake.
But at this mont, Xiao Buli had no ti to appreciate the statue. He looked towards the base of the statue from where the vines had grown. Their roots erged from the crevices between the statue's pedestal and the earth. Xiao Buli suddenly felt that the growth of the vines was probably not accidental. Perhaps soone had planted them there when the statue was first carved, although he didn't know their purpose. It seed that the vines were protecting the statues.
Xiao Buli slowly stood up straight, watching the aimless vines above him gradually settle down. Their restlessness caused so of the vines on the surrounding statues to start trembling lightly as well.
Now that he had seen the statue's true form, Xiao Buli felt there was no need to make enemies of these vines. Besides, the surroundings were filled with them. If a fight broke out, he might not gain much of an advantage, and the vines didn't seem to attack proactively. As long as he didn't touch them, he could simply find the answers he needed and leave. With this thought, Xiao Buli slowly started to step back, not stopping until he was sure that the vines had returned to their original state. Then he began to walk forward, knowing that these things were alive. He made sure to keep to the middle of the path, staying well clear of them.
After having seen the appearance of the statue, Xiao Buli had already confird that this place was not a sanctuary of any Ancient God but perhaps once a village of so minority ethnicity. However, since he had co this far, he decided to still go check out the place that looked like an altar.
He hadn't gone far when suddenly a huge pit appeared in the middle of the road, spanning across the whole path and damaging many of the surrounding houses. All around the hole, the ground had collapsed into an unrecognizable ss. Despite many years passing, small rocks occasionally still fell into it, indicating the pit was not yet stable. Xiao Buli stood so distance away, watching the hole.
The large pit reminded him of the sinkholes he often saw in the news, and judging from afar, it might be tens or hundreds of ters deep, as if the ground had been hollowed out beneath. It remained unclear whether the hole was the work of the forr inhabitants or just the nature of the terrain.
Xiao Buli moved cautiously towards the edge of the pit and peered down. It was pitch black and he could see nothing, but he could hear the sound of flowing water. Many thick vines grew out from the edges of the pit, making it look like a trendous wound.
Suddenly, the ground beneath him gave way, and Xiao Buli imdiately leaped backward. The spot where he had been standing monts before collapsed slightly.
Phew, Xiao Buli exhaled, looking at the ruins in the distance, wondering if he should leave since it wasn't an Ancient God's sanctuary?
Suddenly, Xiao Buli noticed the lighting around him dim. Looking up, he saw the sky had filled with dark clouds and could hear distant thunder.
"FUCK, what kind of weather is this?" he cursed. The sky had been clear just a mont ago. It seed best to find shelter from the rain now, which was a downside of being physically present. If he were operating a computer, Xiao Buli wouldn't have minded travelling in the rain. This was the second ti today that he longed for computer operation.
Big raindrops began to pelt down in an instant, giving Xiao Buli no ti to ponder. He hurriedly executed a Cloud Thunder Leap, keeping his flight low. Xiao Buli hadn't forgotten the ti the Qilin Group cornered him, trapping him with thunder clouds. The feeling of being struck by lightning was far from pleasant.
After flying low for a short distance, Xiao Buli quickly arrived underneath the ruins, where he spotted a rather large cave midway up the structure.
Without giving it much thought, Xiao Buli landed at the entrance and finally took shelter from the torrential rain.
