"Even his speech was informal. At first, he removed the title 'Jeonmu-nim' and added 'ssi' instead, but now it seed like he had thrown that away as well."

"Kang Jinwook?"

"Yeah. Kang Jinwook. Why? It doesn't matter, does it? We're the sa age, after all."

That was true. They had been in the sa class all the way through middle school.

But for Sunwoo, who had been calling him 'Jeonmu-nim' for the past three years, suddenly hearing his na felt strange.

At first, Sunwoo had wondered if he was mocking him, calling him 'Jeonmu-nim' while watching his reactions, thinking, "Are you really calling

'Jeonmu'?"

He had gotten used to the formality over the years, even though he thought it was strange at first.

"Yeah, I guess that's true. But it's still a little surprising."

"Right? I realized it too. There's no need for formal speech if I don't even rember anything, right?"

"Yeah. If you say so, then I guess it's fine."

Kang Jinwook's lips curled up slightly as he spoke, as if rembering Sunwoo standing up to him, defying him. It was involuntary, but it was a small smile.

"If you say so, then I guess it's fine. Are you implying that I'm forcing sothing?"

"Of course not. You're right. Anyway, think about what you're going to eat."

"Now you're saying you're going to follow , huh?"

"What?"

"Aren't you coming to where I am?"

It was true. The car Kang Jinwook was in had already left the airport, exiting the busy streets of Jeju, heading down a wide road.

"Yeah."

Kang Jinwook's calm response left Sunwoo montarily speechless. Was this sothing to even comnt on?

Sunwoo stared ahead in annoyance. There were two n standing there with awkward expressions. They were the ones who had given him a ride from the bus stop to the market.

"You’re very confident, huh?"

"I was doing it to protect you. Who knows what could happen?"

Kang Jinwook even shalessly said that he hadn’t done anything wrong.

"Sure, whatever."

Whether it was protection or surveillance, who could say? Sunwoo locked eyes with the man and noticed him awkwardly smiling again.

He was the one who had pretended to run into him at the supermarket the other day, carrying his bags and offering him a ride.

"Seeing you doze off at the bus stop, I had to offer you a ride. And when I saw you struggling with the heavy bags at the market, I had to help you with those too. Right?"

There was a pause before Kang Jinwook answered. Maybe he was waiting for Sunwoo to try and say more, as if pushing him to express his thoughts.

Sunwoo, of course, didn’t want to listen to anything Kang Jinwook had to say.

"You broke the promise."

"I just wanted to have a al with you."

"Then you should have told

first, shouldn’t you? Sothing feels off about the order of things."

A al? What kind of al was that? With the way Kang Jinwook was acting—suddenly appearing after following him around—it felt like there was sothing more behind it.

While sitting in the restaurant and eyeing the suspicious cars, Sunwoo had assud the people following him were just there to keep an eye on him. Knowing that he had run away before, Kang Jinwook’s personality wouldn't have allowed him to let him go easily.

He decided to just let it go. It wasn’t like he could understand it anyway. If the situation were normal, he wouldn’t have been dealing with soone like Kang Jinwook.

"But you’re not leaving, are you? You said you wanted to go, but I can’t just let you go. And I don’t think you want

to lock you up, so I’m doing this instead."

Of course, Kang Jinwook spouted crazy things like that. He was casually talking about locking Sunwoo up, and Sunwoo felt a chill run down his arm.

"Lock

up? What kind of horrifying thing are you casually saying?"

"You should understand that much."

It made no sense. It really didn’t.

Sunwoo shook his head and continued to look at the two n standing awkwardly in front of him. He had decided to leave, but when he saw who was getting out of the car, he made up his mind.

The person who appeared was a man who had stamped his face on Sunwoo twice already. He was the traveler who had asked for directions, offered him a ride, and carried his bags at the market.

Seeing the man, Sunwoo quickly told Kim Tae-yeol that he had urgent business and stepped out of the car. The two n didn’t show any sign of surprise, acting as if they had just happened to et.

"Did Kang Jinwook send you?"

"Eh? What do you an by that? No, it’s not like that."

"I heard from Kang Jinwook that you were assigned to keep an eye on . You dropped

off at the market and carried my bags when I looked tired."

When Sunwoo ntioned Kang Jinwook, the n’s eyes faltered. And with repeated pressure from Sunwoo, the man who had helped with the bags admitted it.

It wasn’t really an admission—it was more of a quick apology, stating that he had only been following Kang Jinwook's orders.

"Let

see your phone."

Sunwoo extended his hand, confidently demanding to see the phone. He needed to verify if it was really true. His earlier comnts had been just to test the waters.

But the man hesitated.

"Should I call Kang Jinwook? Should I ask if it's okay for

to handle this situation myself while I’m with you?"

Before the man could even finish, the one who had helped with the bags hurriedly handed over his phone, his face still showing signs of panic.

It was an old smartphone, and Sunwoo wondered if it would even work properly. When he handed it to the man, he unlocked it without hesitation.

On the ho screen, there was only one ssenger app. Without hesitation, Sunwoo opened it. And there, he saw the honest na "Jeonmu-nim" in the chat list.

There was also a contact labeled "Secretary Gwak." The first ssage at the top was from Secretary Gwak, as expected.

[Jeonmu-nim has arrived at Jeju Airport.]

It was a ssage telling Sunwoo that Kang Jinwook had arrived in Jeju. It was exactly what Sunwoo had suspected, confirming his worst fears. So this "let’s eat together" was nothing more than an excuse.

Seeing the conversation he’d just had with Kang Jinwook made Sunwoo feel a sudden stiffness in his neck. It wasn’t just a few simple ssages. His every move was being photographed and sent in real-ti to Kang Jinwook.

And he hadn’t even realized it, happily going to the hospital and heading to the airport while nervous about being discovered. It was ridiculous, and now he was getting angry.

No, he should be angry, but knowing who Kang Jinwook was made him resign himself, thinking, Of course he would do that. And the fact that he understood this made him feel even more embarrassed.

"Ugh..."

Sunwoo let out a long sigh. This wasn't understanding—it was absurd. The ssenger content from the man’s phone was shocking.

"Hey, Kang Jinwook. Co ho. Let’s talk."

Sunwoo said this, hanging up imdiately. Since Kang Jinwook had assigned surveillance to him, he probably already knew where he lived.

"You heard that, right? Take

ho."

He then confidently demanded that the n drive him ho. It wasn’t far—only about a 20-minute walk.

But he planned to be ho before Kang Jinwook arrived.

The man in the passenger seat quickly ran around and opened the door for him. His slight smile seed kind enough, but Sunwoo couldn’t muster a gentle gaze.

What he thought was kindness turned out to be surveillance ordered by Kang Jinwook.

"It’s hot, so get in quickly."

The man awkwardly smiled and urged Sunwoo into the car. Sunwoo sighed and climbed in. Since the car hadn’t turned off, the air conditioning was already on, making the interior cool.

The drive to his house was quick. Sunwoo got out of the car and imdiately crossed through the front gate. Walking across the yard, he saw the blue waves in the distance.

Normally, he would have walked to the stone wall, staring blankly at the sea to cool off, but today, he didn’t have the energy for that.

But as he was about to enter the house, Sunwoo froze in his tracks. His eyes were drawn to the parasol in the yard.

Yeah, maybe that was better. He didn’t want to invite Kang Jinwook inside after all.

‘He’s an uninvited guest anyway.’

Sunwoo thought angrily and walked toward the table under the parasol, sitting down heavily. The quiet neighborhood made even the sound of the car wheels rolling seem unusually loud.

Sure enough, a luxury car that didn’t belong in such a peaceful area stopped just beyond the low fence.

Click.

With the sound of the locks opening, the car door swung open. Secretary Gwak got out of the passenger seat and imdiately went to the back door to open it.

"You're really taking care of things."

Sunwoo muttered, feeling a bit irritable. Soon after, Kang Jinwook erged from the car.

Even in the blazing midday sun, Kang Jinwook didn’t seem to feel the heat. He didn’t look like he was sweating at all. In fact, the calm and quiet atmosphere around him made him look relaxed, and the more Sunwoo looked at him, the more his attention was drawn to him.

"He really does look perfect."

Sunwoo muttered again, not really intending to say anything. At first glance, who would think he was a bit off in the head? He casually thought nothing of surveilling others, even when the other person knew about it.

Then, as if he knew exactly where Sunwoo was, Kang Jinwook imdiately turned his head toward him.

Their eyes t. For a mont, Sunwoo felt as if ti had stopped. Until now, he had thought everything about Kang Jinwook was wrong.

But the mont their eyes t, Sunwoo couldn’t think of anything else. Kang Jinwook’s gaze completely captured him, like the intense sumr sun.
