Chapter 216: TARGETED
After dinner we walked hand in hand along the boardwalk overlooking the beach, passing by all the quaint shops and restaurants lining the pathway. The atmosphere was breathtaking and I knew it was because we were comfortable in each other’s company. We walked until we heard a rumble of thunder overhead.
" Ti to go back" Alex suggested and soon the sudden splatter of raindrops hit the beach.
"How about a swim?" I teased him and rushed towards the sea.
Alex was faster as he grabbed
and picked
up. My legs went around his torso as we kissed and the rain started falling hard. He ended the kiss and growled " Six ways to Sunday"
" Fucking yes" I responded and licked his bottom lip.
" We are going to be late for tomorrow’s eting. " He laughed and put
down and we raced to the car. Once inside the car, we kissed again as Alexander drove us ho.
" They will wait" I rubbed the raindrops from his face as we got out of the car. The rain hit the ground heavily and we were soaked as we entered the mansion. Alexander carried
to the room and pulled all the wet clothes off him and . He pulled
into the bathroom, switched on the hot water and we stood under the shower kissing, touching, embracing until it was not enough.
" Marry
Chary" Alexander persisted. " That is the only thing I have ever wished for since I laid my eyes on you"
" Yes," I nodded as he picked
up and walked to the room. I was fucked six ways to Sunday until I saw stars and blacked out.
Alexander woke
up the next day at nine am. We were already late for the eting and we rushed to the senate office. The mbers of the senate plus council mbers of the Sitka court had already arrived.
" You are late," Senator Fabgas spoke up.
" Am I ?" Alexander raised his eyebrows and I walked behind him as we walked into the hall.
" Greetings governor " The rest of the senate mbers plus the council mbers piped up.
" Let us forego the formalities. " Alexander raised my hand and walked to the chair allocated for the Governor.
" Why is she here? " Senator Fabgas demanded. He was the head of the senate for Sitka and had always felt that he deserved to be the governor.
" She is a council mber and my bodyguard Fabgas. Have you forgotten " Alexander responded and he huffed in annoyance and looked away.
" Now that you are here, we would like to address a few concerns from the mbers" Senator Fabgas raised his chin.
"Proceed" Alexander leaned back on the chair.
" As the Governor of Sitka, you went on a private trip with your guard Chary, and never explained to anyone. This is a complaint on the abuse of power and the Senate moves it to impeach you" He responded.
Alexander’s eyes blazed at him and the only sound that escaped my mouth was a low chuckle. I could feel the anger that radiated from
and I was seconds away from snapping his neck.
" So the only reason you would impeach
is because I went on a private trip, with my private jet and took my bodyguard with ?" Alexander asked as his eyes darted around the table to every mber who was present. I could see the sha in their eyes and knew that Senator Fabga had coerced them into it.
" You have been away from your post for one week " Senator Fabga seethed.
" And did anything go wrong during that ti ?" Alexander demanded.
There was pin-drop silence in the room.
" They are just looking for trouble, " I muttered.
" You have no sha "Senator Fabga’s words were directed at Chary.
" You better lower your voice when you are speaking to her " Alexander banged the table and seethed at Senator Fabgas. " I left Sitka because Tizheruk Bering summoned .
" What ?"
" Our lord?"
" Are you serious?"
" No way"
These were all the murmurs in the room but the only person who remained speechless was Senator Fabgas.
" The Sea serpent god is back. He is mated to a sea horse nad Haida. He was in Sitka two weeks back. He promised to co back to Sitka in a week" Alexander announced. Their cheers and celebrations of the mbers in the room made Senator Fabgas’s face thunder.
" You are bluffing, " Senator Fabgas vehently yelled.
" Are you deaf and blind? Haven’t you all noticed that your powers grow stronger?" Alexander raised an eyebrow
" Yes. "One of the mbers spoke up. I thought it was just the power of the mother sea and brushed it off.
" It’s not " I affird. " My lord Tizheruk is back. I t him and his mate Haida too. She is a seahorse and very powerful. "
" I need proof," Senator Fabgas insisted.
" Good, ’’ I stood up and then pushed the chair back as I moved to his side. ’’ Since you want proof why don’t I show you? Attack
and see it "
Senator Fabgas snickered as he stood up and then pushed his serpent powers and attacked . Alexander stood immobile as the barrier appeared and then pushed the powers back to Senator Fabgas the surprised look on his face made
chuckle and he fell back and landed on his ass.
" What the hell ?" One of the council mbers spoke up.
" Is that the sea gods barrier ?"
" Aweso"
" Wow"
They all muttered incoherently.
" Is This proof enough?" Alexander snickered at them and then his eyes blazed at Senator Fabgas. " Your judgnt and sentints are misplaced, senator. And for that reason, I would suggest to the senator that you should be impeached. "
The silence in the room was so loud that I could tell everyone held their breath from the sheer shock of my words.
" What ?" He stood up and stuttered.
" Why not? You wanted to present a motion to impeach , why can’t I do the sa?" Alexander shrugged his shoulders. Senator Fabgas gritted his teeth and Alexander turned to the rest of the mbers and said " I beg to leave as work awaits . I bid you all farewell"
We left the hall and when we reached the parking lot, one of my guards rushed over in a panic, surrounded , and announced " Governor, our security team tells
that there is a word in the wind of an imminent attack on you"
" What? " I stepped in front of Alexander and asked, " Do we know how or who?"
" Not as yet but we better get out of here " The guard advised.
We left the senate office as the cars sped off on the highway. Much to our surprise the attack ca sooner than we expected. The first bullet hit the car, making the driver swerve and sprout curses.
I yelled at the driver " Can we use the route by the sea? We need to get out of the main road"
" Five minutes " He responded as another bullet hit the bulletproof window.
" We don’t have five minutes," I seethed.
The set cars behind that were escorting us blocked the road and the guards got out engaging in a shootout with the attackers as we sped off.
" Shit. We have two motorcycles following us. " The driver announced and then pulled out a gun.
" Give it to
" I grabbed it and then opened the window, pushed my body out, and said to Alexander " Hold
in place. " His hands went around my waist and he held
firmly. The sounds of gunshots were loud as the car was ramd with bullets and they whizzed past my ears. I aid at the two motorcycles and in a matter of seconds, shot at them each and watched them roll on the road.
" You got them ma’am" I heard the driver yell.
I pushed my way back to the car and whispered " Phew, that was close"
We took the route by the sea as the driver sped up and we approached the Governor’s mansion. I opened the door as the car was moving, jumped out, and yelled at the guards at the gate " Open the fucking door"
The guards called
and they rushed towards the car as they opened the gate.
I felt sothing hit my body on the side I felt myself falling on the ground, wincing in pain with the realization that I had just been shot. Pain radiated through my body as I struggled to place my hand on the gunshot wound and it ca wet. Wet from blood that was seeping from the hole faster than I thought.
Still. This was it. This was how fate had decided that I would die. The hot heat was the only remnant beside my cold hard breathing as I fought through the pain. My sight had already started to blur over fogging up my eyes with hazy darkness. I heard the sounds of everything around
fading.
I heard Alexander’s words " Fuck she is bleeding so much. "
I was in and out of it as I heard them carrying , then my clothes were cut and then sothing close to water or whatever it was that was poured on the wound made
wince in pain. There was a feeling or scent of burnt flesh when tiny pricks of needles went in and out of my skin before I completely blacked out.
