Ch.40 She Truly Is Not Easy to Manage

Whoosh—

The silver figure seized the opening, powering both feet and launching herself forward like a bolt.

“Damn it—who the hell is this runaway? Why isn’t she properly restrained?”

Guard Polat had never expected such a swift, agile small figure to execute a sharp-angle maneuver so suddenly. The unexpected shift caught him off-guard, forcing him to halt his ongoing ammunition loading.

He raised his right arm, using the protective capability of the tallic gauntlet to shield his vital areas.

“What!?”

Yet events unfolded contrary to his expectations.

As the little wolf girl reached directly in front of him, she abruptly halted her motion, drew her knees up tightly, and squatted low to gather force.

Boom!

The ground at the junction between the underground ruins and the black market was composed of loose soil and broken stones—long neglected and decayed.

At the mont her tiny, porcelain-white bare feet left the ground, shattered stones exploded outward, and the earth sank inward from her point of contact.

As she leapt upward, her crimson and blue eyes fixed unblinkingly on the guard, capturing every minute twitch of his muscles.

“I’ve got you!”

When the guard raised his right arm in response to her jump, Zhixia extended both hands, gripping the protruding barrel firmly and planting her foot upon it.

To Polat’s eyes, the creature before him seed utterly irrational—just monts ago, she was leaping upward, and now she was climbing straight up his right arm.

“You’re asking for death!”

Polat knew his magical impact cannon was his greatest asset—he must protect it at all costs and prevent this creature from destroying it!

Thinking thus, Polat violently whipped his right arm, attempting to shake her off, while simultaneously thrusting his left fist toward his own right arm.

He was certain that even if he couldn’t dislodge her, after absorbing one of his full-power punches, she would be rendered completely incapacitated—and helpless.

This was an essential insight he had gained from their prior clash.

“Stupid giant!”

Yet the little wolf girl’s reaction once again exceeded Polat’s expectations. Before his left fist even touched her body, she used his right arm as a pivot point and launched herself upward a second ti.

And this ti, Polat—with his inferior speed—could not react at all.

All he could do was watch helplessly as the silver little creature flew over his head, her knees slamming against his shoulders for leverage, her hand reaching for his head.

“This is…”

Crack—

Yet, when he exerted full force, attempting to snap the giant’s neck, the anticipated crisp snapping sound never ca.

The girl was clearly stunned by the giant’s defensive resilience. Her untouched ice-blue right pupil contracted slightly.

“What…?”

Zhixia’s right calf was clamped shut by a massive steel claw. Under this crushing grip, she felt her tibia shatter.

“Ugh…”

But before she could even cry out in pain, Zhixia felt the world spin wildly, then darkness swallowed her vision as agony surged from every part of her body into her brain.

“Little one, you didn’t expect this, did you? My neck has been specially reinforced and modified!”

After hurling Zhixia far backward into the rubble behind him, Polat finally allowed himself to breathe. He pulled back his hood, revealing his neck lined with gleaming tallic tissue.

“To be honest, if you hadn’t been greedy and tried for a one-shot kill—if you’d simply closed in and grappled —you might’ve stood a real chance with your speed.”

As he spoke, Polat loaded another round into his magical impact cannon.

He stepped toward the pile of rubble burying Zhixia, raised his right hand, and declared: “First, let you feel the sensation of every bone in your body being shattered… Don’t worry, you won’t die.”

Polat knew this little girl was undoubtedly rchandise from so slave trading house. Though he didn’t know how she managed to escape, he couldn’t casually damage another person’s property.

Therefore, he had switched his magical impact cannon from standard mode to capture mode, and even used specially designed blank rounds.

“I wonder if I can get reimbursed for the ammunition cost…”

“Stop.”

Just as Polat was about to pull the trigger and end the capture, a familiar voice rang out.

His movent froze slightly—and in that single mont of hesitation, the small figure buried beneath the rubble erupted upward.

Crash—

Rubble flew everywhere. Ignoring her entire body soaked in blood, Zhixia clenched her fist and lunged straight at Polat’s face.

“You stop too, Zhixia Cangya!”

Hearing this voice, the previously fierce-looking little wolf girl instinctively halted her motion, still frozen mid-swing with her fist clenched, slowly turning her head in disbelief.

“Huh?”

The girl was montarily dazed.

Once she ceased her action, the violent, murderous impulses dominating her mind instantly dissipated, and reason returned.

“Where… am I?”

At this mont, Luo Nan arrived beside them, his gaze sweeping between the two combatants who had nearly killed each other.

Though Zhixia could not see the face behind the Golden Crow Beak Mask, she could sense—Mr. Raven… was furious.

Sohow, realizing Mr. Raven was angry, the girl’s physical pain faded sowhat.

Her mind was now overwheld by emotions called guilt and sha, leaving no room to process the agony coursing through her body.

“Zhixia Cangya, co here!”

Hearing Luo Nan’s command, the little wolf girl shrank her neck, her twin wolf ears trembling slightly before drooping listlessly.

Her ice-blue pupils instinctively fixed on the ground, utterly refusing to et the dark eyes hidden behind the golden crow beak mask.

“What are you standing there for? Co here!”

“Y-yes… yes…”

Having been scolded again, Zhixia dared not resist Luo Nan. She shuffled forward step by slow step, inching closer.

Luo Nan carefully examined the girl’s injuries. From afar, he hadn’t noticed—now that he was close, he realized just how horrific they were.

Her snow white skin was now mostly stained crimson, countless lacerations and contusions scattered across her body—almost no patch of skin remained intact.

Yet… though it looked terrifying, Luo Nan knew these were all superficial wounds. The only serious injury was her slightly misaligned right calf.

It must have been injured during the close-quarters struggle with Polat.

“Poor child… In this condition, I can’t just ignore her. Leaving her like this wounded—I simply cannot.”

“Fine. I’ll help her all the way.”

With that, Luo Nan pulled out a small, exquisitely crafted glass vial from his pocket. Inside, a clear crimson liquid shimred enchantingly under the dim market lights.

He tossed the vial to the little wolf girl. “Recovery potion. Drink it—first, stop the external bleeding.”

Zhixia accepted it without suspicion, pried open the cork with her fingers, opened her mouth wide, and drank it down in three quick gulps.

After finishing, she even extended her pink tongue to lick the rim of the vial, not wasting a single drop.

“This girl… truly is not easy to manage.”

Watching the girl drain the entire recovery potion, Luo Nan nodded, then turned to Polat, who stood respectfully behind him.

“Well then, let’s discuss the background and sequence of events surrounding this incident, Mr. Polat.”
