After hanging up with Qu Jing, Xiao Yang called two of his dorm mates.

“Hey, where are you guys?”

“Lying around in the dorm, why?”

“Co with

sowhere later. Dinner’s on

tonight.”

“Whoa, the sun must be rising in the west!”

Xiao Yang briefly explained the situation, emphasizing how a freshman girl had dared to bully Qu Jing, a third-year from the Literature and Arts Departnt. “I’m kind of chasing Qu Jing lately, so I thought I’d help her out and settle this.”

“Wait a minute, weren’t you chasing Tao Tian?”

“That’s not important. Just co with , stand behind

for support, and help intimidate her. She’s not easy to deal with.”

Xiao Yang had his own agenda. Despite his position as student council vice president, Lu Lin had openly ignored and dismissed him. He felt it was necessary to teach her a lesson, ensuring she understood his authority.

He didn’t ntion Qu Jing’s intent to slap Lu Lin—that was her personal vendetta. Instead, he frad it as a student council investigation into a possible incident of campus bullying, stressing how seriously the university treated such matters.

“This freshman dared to act out like this? She must think she’s still in high school,” Xiao Yang said confidently.

His dorm mates listened in disbelief.

“Wow, what kind of girl slaps Qu Jing of all people? Isn’t she the tall one in Tao Tian’s dorm? Bro, you’re swimming in luck!”

“Enough jokes. Just stand there and look intimidating. A first-year student wouldn’t dare to defy us.”

His dorm mates agreed. Qu Jing’s long legs and Xiao Yang’s promise of dinner sweetened the deal.

### The Gathering

By six o’clock, Xiao Yang and his two dorm mates t at the campus gate. His friends, both fairly stocky, looked the part. Shortly after, Qu Jing arrived, freshly showered and dressed in a sleeveless blouse paired with white shorts that accentuated her long legs.

The mont she appeared, the guys were montarily stunned. Xiao Yang quickly stepped up, introduced his friends, and assured her of their plan.

“They’ll stand by us for support. That freshman won’t know what hit her,” he promised.

Qu Jing looked at the three guys, satisfied. She thanked them politely, smiling sweetly.

“No way we’d let a third-year get pushed around by so freshman!” one of them said.

“Yeah, don’t worry. We’ve got your back!”

With three guys backing her up, Qu Jing felt emboldened. She was determined to put Lu Lin in her place.

As they walked to the pool hall, the group couldn’t help but sneer at the thought of Lu Lin.

“Honestly, what kind of girl spends all her ti at a pool hall?”

“Exactly. How does soone like that even get into university?”

The pool hall, owned by Liu Shuo, was only a five-minute walk away. When they arrived, there were only a handful of people playing. A quick glance around revealed a few patrons pausing their gas to exchange amused glances.

The group didn’t notice. Xiao Yang spotted Lu Lin at the far end, leaning over a pool table, lining up a shot. Her black sleeveless sweater and confident posture were striking.

“There she is!” Xiao Yang pointed.

Qu Jing stord over with her entourage in tow.

“Big Sis, they’re here,” Zhang Ru whispered to Lu Lin.

Lu Lin nodded, staying focused on her ga.

Qu Jing coughed pointedly.

Lu Lin ignored her.

“Ahem!” Qu Jing cleared her throat louder, hoping to get a reaction.

Still no response.

Xiao Yang stepped in. “You’re Lu Lin, right?”

Finally, Lu Lin glanced up at him, her cold expression catching Xiao Yang and his friends off guard. Under the stark lighting, her fair skin and aloof deanor left an impression.

“What do you want?” she asked coolly.

“Well, I’m Xiao Yang, vice president of the student council,” he began, trying to sound authoritative. “We’re here to investigate the conflict between you and Qu Jing. I hope you’ll cooperate.”

“Since when does the student council handle things like this?”

“Maintaining harmony among students is part of our duty,” Xiao Yang replied.

Lu Lin said nothing and returned to her ga.

“Did you or did you not use violence against Qu Jing?” Xiao Yang pressed.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she replied dismissively.

Xiao Yang was taken aback. “That’s not what I’ve heard online—”

“Let

guess: you’re here to cause trouble,” Lu Lin cut him off, her tone indifferent.

Before Xiao Yang could respond, Qu Jing shoved him aside.

“Stop pretending!” she shouted. “You were so smug when you slapped ! Where’s that arrogance now?”

Lu Lin didn’t reply, focusing on her next shot.

“You think I’ll let this slide?” Qu Jing grabbed Lu Lin by the collar, her voice shrill. “You called

a dog—what about you? Whose dog are you?”

Lu Lin stayed calm, not reacting to Qu Jing’s provocations.

Incensed, Qu Jing threw her against the pool table and scread, “I’ll show you who’s the real dog!”

Then, raising her hand, she aid to slap Lu Lin.

“Go ahead,” Lu Lin taunted, a smirk tugging at her lips.

Qu Jing hesitated for a mont but steeled herself.

Slap!

The sound echoed through the hall, but it wasn’t Qu Jing delivering the blow—it was Lu Lin.

Qu Jing stumbled back, stunned. “You… you slapped ?”

Before she could retaliate, Lu Lin twisted her arm and pinned her face down on the pool table.

“Let go of , you b!” Qu Jing shrieked, struggling against Lu Lin’s iron grip.

Her entourage froze, unsure of what to do.

“Lu Lin! Let her go, or else!” Xiao Yang blustered, though his voice wavered.

“What ‘else’?” Lu Lin shot back.

Xiao Yang’s dorm mates exchanged uneasy glances. “Uh… this doesn’t seem right.”

Before anyone could act, a booming voice interrupted.

“Who dares cause trouble in the Xu Huai Association’s territory?”

The group turned to see a mountain of a man, flanked by a dozen others, blocking the hall’s entrance.

“Wha—what’s going on?” Xiao Yang stamred.

Behind the hulking figure stood Zhou Yuwen, his expression calm yet commanding.

“Zhou Yuwen!” Xiao Yang gasped, as if seeing a lifeline. “It’s ! Xiao Yang! We’ve t before!”

Zhou Yuwen ignored him.

Desperate, Xiao Yang reached out, only to be t with a resounding slap from Liu Shuo.

“You think you can talk to my boss like that?” Liu Shuo growled.

Qu Jing, still pinned, tried to appeal to Zhou Yuwen. “Zhou Yuwen! She’s bullying ! Please, help!”

Zhou Yuwen simply glanced at Lu Lin, who walked over and sat on his lap, her deanor unbothered.

His arm wrapped around her waist as he addressed Qu Jing with a faint smile.

“So, who’s the dog here?”

“I… I am…” Qu Jing muttered, her face pale as she knelt before him.
