Chapter 176: Kathleen’s Handwritting
Back in Hudson corporations, Shawn sat in his leather chair, dressed in all black, exuding a mysterious vibe.
Even Johnson standing before him felt it wasn’t different from judgent day.
He had just received a ssage from Wyatt’s Corporations and was reporting it to his boss.
"Was the location for the eting given?" Shawn asked, his eyes never leaving the docunt he was working on.
"It says here, that you are to et at Hotel Rivers by 6pm to discuss more about the project."
"What is there to deliberate about?" He smirked, "Everything has been concluded with Director Wyatt and the only thing remaining was the contract signing."
"Who sent the invite?" He asked Johnson, who had been silently observing him.
He has been reliably inford that Director Wyatt had left the country. He knew there was no way it would be Kathleen, apart from her, who else would want to et him?
Then he rembered that one of his subordinates had reported that Jason had returned to the country four days ago.
They even went to a park to play with so children.
All these had pointed to the fact that she was perfectly okay.
Are they planning to play a smart one on him again. He could vividly rember how they turned around to give the contract he had spent months working on to a asly company.
In all this, he could sense the handwriting of only one person who had promised to deal with him a few days back. Was she actually serious when she said that and wants to carry out her words?
Before Johnson could answer him, the door to his office flung open and soone he wasn’t expecting to see any ti soon waltzed in dramatically.
"Mom?" He was taken aback by her sudden appearance and his already gloomy face turned gloomier.
"I can see you are not happy to see ," she grimaced. "However, I am happy to see you. I’ve missed you so much."
She directly moved over to Shawn’s chair and clasped him in a tight embrace, disregarding the frown on his face.
"Why are you back so early?" The last thing he needed now was soone to interfere with him and Kathleen now that things had deteriorated between them.
Now that she was back, he was sure that it will be more difficult keeping her away from Kathleen.
Luckily, the therapy session for her grandmother had been completed and all she needed to do was take the dication Kathleen had been sending over weekly.
"Did you intend to keep
there forever? Of course I ca back because I wanted to be back," Joanne Hudson declared blatantly.
With a flick of his hands in Johnson’s direction, the later understood that the eting was adjourned and excused himself from the office, leaving the mother and son alone.
"What’s been going on? How is your Nana?"
Joanne settled herself gingerly on the couch, feeling very much at ho and satisfied with herself.
"Didn’t you see her when you got ho? Why co here to bother
with so many questions?"
"Humph," she grunted, "I ca here straight from the airport and my luggage is still in the car. I haven’t even started and you are already complaining."
Shawn raised a brow and instantly sensed trouble coming.
He cast her a suspicious look."Why are you here?"
"What do you an? Can’t I co to see my son whom I’ve not seen for so long?"
Shawn sneered, ’when has she cared about
so much that the first place she cos to is my office?’
"You know you can’t deceive
with your fake profession of affection. As you can see I was busy when you barged in unceremoniously. Spill it or go ho."
Joanne Hudson was lost for words. How did she give birth to such a difficult son? Other mothers would use coquettery and even blackmail to make their children listen to them but not her own son.
If she was not a strong woman, by now she was sure she would have been scared silly by his oppressive aura.
She sighed as she resigned herself to her fate.
"I heard you refused to help my friend and she was sent to jail. Not only that but that you even defended that slut who caused her to be imprisoned. Is that true?"
Shawn’s head jerked up in disbelief. "Did you really co all the way to ask
that?"
"What is wrong with showing concern for my dear friend?"
"Like you said, she is your friend, not mine," Shawn pointed out. So I am under no obligation to help her. Moreover she was found guilty of the cri she was sentenced for."
"Nonsense," snorted Joanne. " As my friend and a family that we have been close to over the years, you owe them that."
"How can you just sit back and let them sentence her? Wasn’t it just a murder attempt? She didn’t even die in the long run so what are you so up-strung about?"
"I’ve warned you several tis to end whatever feelings you have for her. Gold diggers like her will only drag you down."
Shawns knuckles tightened as he tried to suppress the rage boiling within him.
"I won’t listen to this. I think you’ve overstayed your welco."
Joanne couldn’t believe Shawn was actually driving her out of his office. "I’m just trying to protect you, Shawn."
"Protect
from what? From finding my own happiness? Don’t you think you have interfered enough? Because of you Kathleen left
and almost died in a plane crash. Seeing her alive again, you are still in cahoot with others to end her life. Do you really care about how I might be feeling in all this?"
Each word he spoke was laden with disappointnt and sadness. Disappointed for having such a mother and sadness for what he and Kathleen had to go through because of his mother’s sches with her so called close friends.
