Chapter 137: Did Shawn Try To Cheat On His Wife?
"That will not be necessary," she spat back coldly. "... and sorry for bothering you." With that Kathleen ended the call.
It was the best way to make him co to his senses. The next ti he gets her call, he will be more rational and talk like a normal human being.
"Goddess, goddess," Dr Sullivan yelled from the other end of the phone but the only response he got was a beeping tone from the phone signifying that the call had been hung up.
He glanced at the phone and truly the screen showed "call ended."
"Is she angry with ?" His forehead creased as he pondered on why she would suddenly end the call.
"Did I say sothing wrong?" He sighed and slumped back into his chair. What he had just heard was enough to drain his energy.
’’President Hudson? Unbelievable," he muttered underneath his breath.
By then Steffan had gotten a grip on himself. He approached Dr Sullivan’s table not sure how he was going to ask him for confirmation.
From behind his thick rimd glasses, Dr Sullivan gave him a suspicious look as he saw him co close. "When did you arrive?" He had been so engrossed with his conversation with Dr Janice that he didn’t notice his presence.
"Long enough to hear most of your conversation with the person on the phone," he replied.
"You were not ant to hear that," his tone had a note of warning in it.
"Unfortunately I did, and I’m finding it hard to believe it," Steffan confessed weakly. This was the worst news he had ever expected to stumble on about his friend.
"You had better keep it to yourself," Dr Sullivan’s tone had a note of warning in it.
Then he rembered that Dr Steffan was President Hudson’s friend. "Do you an you never knew he had a condition like that?"
Steffan shook his head sadly, "Not at all. But who was it that you were on the phone with?"
"She is soone very important to President Hudson." Sullivan replied ambiguously. He couldn’t reveal that his goddess was the one faced with such an ill fate.
"It’s a she?" Steffan asked with an arched brow, but didn’t get any answer from Dr Sullivan.
’Does it an Shawn has given up on Kathleen? Why is another woman finding out about this kind of sensitive matter?’
’Did Shawn try to cheat on his wife whom he claid to love dearly?’
’That’s impossible." He discarded the thought as fast as it ca.
With what Shawn had gone through for Kathleen all these years, he cannot cheat on her now that she was almost within arms length.
Apart from that, who in his right senses would trade a gorgeous beauty like Kathleen for another.
Although he had not interacted much with Kathleen, from the brief monts they’ve spent together, he could tell that she was a woman with impeccable character.
Even from the way her children are brought up, one can easily tell she was not a lose woman.
What bothered him most was the way Shawn had kept him in the dark about the whole thing.
"As his buddy, he should have told
about this given the fact that I am a doctor. Moreover, he hardly keeps anything from ," he complained.
"Since he didn’t tell you about it, don’t you think it may be because he is embarrassed to talk about it?" reasoned Dr Sullivan.
"How can he get help if he doesn’t talk about it?"
"He might be seeing so other doctor," Dr Sullivan suggested. "I’m sure President Hudson will not want to quietly live with such a condition without looking for solutions."
"You may be right. So there is nothing we can do?" Steffan felt it wasn’t quite right to just sit quietly and do nothing.
"I’m afraid, there’s none. Unless he cos to us for help."
Steffan was lost in thought for so ti. ’Should I go and see him?’
’What if he asks
how I got to know about his condition?’
’I think it’s best I listen to Dr Sullivan and allow Shawn to bring it up first. But won’t it get worse as ti passes. As a friend I owe it to him to help him even though he has refused to ask.’
With that he made up his mind to contact Shawn as soon as possible. It doesn’t matter if he tries to shut him up, at least as a friend he would have a clear conscience that he did his best to help but his help was rejected.
"I will talk to him. I will not be able to rest until I do so," Steffan said to Dr Sullivan.
Dr Sullivan peered at Steffan from above his glasses like soone who was about digging his own grave. "Are you sure you are doing the right thing?"
"Yes. Initially I thought I should wait for him to open up to , but knowing Shawn he may not if I don’t confront him."
"He is more like a brother to
and I can say to so extent that I understand him."
As he spoke, his resolve to see Shawn beca stronger.
Over the years they’ve always watched out for each other and now was not going to be an exception.
Dr Sullivan saw how determined Steffan was and knew he couldn’t dissuade him from his decision.
"It’s like your mind is made up and you are sure you will be able to get through to him."
"Yes, I believe I should, just like when I returned to the country and got to know about his psychological condition after witnessing him having one once. It was only then that he told
about it and I’ve been following up on his case since."
After about a minute, Dr Sullivan who had stopped listening to the rest of what Steffan was saying after he heard him ntion psychological condition, sprang up from his seat, and grabbed Steffan who was still talking.
