Chapter 775: Chapter 526: Docking of the Foreign Ship_2

"Bin Gang Tuo 11 in position!"

"Bin Gang Tuo 08 in position!"

"Okay, everyone, reverse one."

"11 received."

"08 received."

Last night, a bulk carrier of over 20,000 tons ca to the anchorage, waiting to unload at the opposite Shuzhou Port.

That bulk carrier, unaware of the situation, anchored directly, close to the Zhangfu. When setting sail, it was imperative to ensure that the two ships did not collide.

Han Yu walked to the window on the left, looked down, and once again picked up the walkie-talkie: "11, reverse three."

"Reverse three, 11 received."

"08, slowly increase to reverse three."

"08, reverse three."

Though Zhangfu had a side thruster, its bow was damaged when it ran aground, and the damaged part was below the waterline; nobody knew if the thruster was damaged. Han Yu didn’t intend to use the thruster unless absolutely necessary.

He frequently issued orders based on the waterway and current conditions.

With the authorization of Old Wu in the dunship, the huge ship entered the newly dredged dedicated channel safely with the help of two tugboats.

001, Yangtze Police 110, and Supervision 41 "cleared the way" ahead.

Binjiang Police 002 and Supervision 39 covered the rear, added to the tugboat following behind, created a magnificent scene on the river.

The shipyard was about three kiloters from the dunship.

Seeing the giant ship pass by, Secretary Ye and other leaders were invited by Deputy Mayor Shen to disembark and rush to the shipyard by car. They arrived at a temporary safety area marked out with li to watch the foreign ship enter the dock up close.

To let the leaders both see and hear, Deputy Mayor Shen borrowed a walkie-talkie from Old Wu for a live "broadcast" via the walkie-talkie.

"001, report the water depth!"

"Eleven ters two on the west side, ten ters nine on the east side, eleven ters in the middle."

"001 enter the dock, prepare to lead the cable."

"001 received."

In the wheelhouse, only the Singaporean captain understood Chinese. The second and third officers and the helmsman did not.

Han Yu reported the water depth in English and then shouted towards the river surface: "Bin Gang Tuo 11, stand up and push against the bow."

"Stand up, 11 received."

"Bin Gang Tuo 08, hold steady."

"08 received."

"Full rudder to the right."

...

With the help of two tugboats, the giant ship lay across the river, with its bow facing directly towards the dock entrance.

transford into a cable-leading boat, with Zhu Baogen and "Land God" Xiao Chen taking over the rope thrown from the bulk carrier, inching it onto the ship.

From thin to thick, until the actual rope was pulled aboard.

Captain Fan confird the ropes were secured and promptly reported to Han Yu.

"Proceed to pull forward according to plan."

"001 received."

The ropes on the Singaporean bulk carrier were long enough; 001 increased power and pulled the rope all the way to the northern shore of the dock.

Zhang Asheng’s mariti company had been waiting for a while and imdiately directed three dockworkers to take over the rope and tie it to the cable pile onshore.

By now, the chief officer and the "carpenter" on the bulk carrier’s bow had directed the sailors to throw out the second rope.

Zhang Asheng’s engineering team and the group leader from Cosco Shipyard, who ca to help, organized the dockworkers to pull north and tied the rope to the sixteenth cable pile on the west shore.

"Bin Gang Tuo 11 doesn’t need to push anymore, undo the rope and enter the dock."

"11 received."

The crew on Bin Gang Tuo 11 untied the rope, then turned around in the river, bypassed the stern of the bulk carrier, and entered the dock from the port side of the bulk carrier.

001, having completed the cable-leading task, waited for Bin Gang Tuo 11 to reach the designated position and secured the rope thrown down by the sailors, then slowly exited the dock under Han Yu’s command.

To ensure safety, Han Yu decided not to use the "car" anymore.

He instructed the chief officer and sailors on the deck of the bulk carrier to slowly reel in the rope using the winch, and with the help of Bin Gang Tuo 11, they carefully moved into the dock.

Bin Gang Tuo 08’s current task was to hold the stern of the bulk carrier steady, ensuring the proper attitude of the bulk carrier as it entered the dock.

Secretary Ye had not expected a bulk carrier of over 70,000 tons to enter the dock in such a way and quietly asked: "Will those three nylon ropes hold when pulling it inside? Won’t they snap?"

The youngest deputy director of the Port Supervision Bureau, an expert in this field, explained with a smile: "Secretary Ye, these aren’t ordinary nylon ropes; they are made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber, which can withstand a breaking load of at least 60 tons when the ship’s deadweight is less than 120,000 tons. The capstan on the bulk carrier is not an ordinary winch either. I saw the submitted materials; the minimum breaking load of the capstan’s brake is more than 32 tons."

"Stronger than steel wire ropes?"

"Um, in fact, many ports no longer allow the use of steel wire ropes."

Deputy Mayor Shen opportunely added: "Leaders, the dock’s cable piles are also very sturdy and connected to the previously driven pile foundations. Moreover, to ensure the safety of the cable-leading, Salted Fish had early on marked out the operation and safety zones."

The bulk carrier could hardly get away from the dock.

Neither could it easily rise from sitting on the pile in the dock.

With the busy work of nearly a hundred people on the ship and ashore, it took almost an hour for the bulk carrier to enter the dock safely.

Secretary Ye and others could not enter the operating area, so they observed from a distance with binoculars.

There were several marks painted on the ship’s body, and corresponding marks were painted onshore.

Han Yu descended the pilot ladder and took Bin Gang Tuo 08, which had followed into the dock, to disembark on the west side. Then, taking the engineering departnt’s jeep around to the east bank, he directed the crew to loosen or tighten the cables and commanded the two tugboats to assist the bulk carrier in adjusting its position.

After nearly another hour of busyness, Bin Gang Tuo 11 completed its task and headed back to Binjiang Port.

All ropes were properly led, with over a dozen of them pulling the ship from all sides.

So of these ropes belonged to the bulk carrier itself, and so to the dock.

After inspecting around the bulk carrier, Han Yu ordered Bin Gang Tuo 08, which had not yet left, to tow over the floating dock gate and close the shipyard’s gate.

Closing the gate took ti, and draining the water took even longer.

Secretary Ye, Director Tang, and other leaders couldn’t wait until the afternoon. After obtaining consent from the dock’s Customs and Border Inspection, and through communication and coordination by Zhang Asheng, Shen Rulan, and Tang Wentao, they briefly t the Singaporean captain and the third officer from the Philippines after they disembarked on the small boat. They then thanked Han Yu and other hardworking staff before departing one after another.
