Chapter 447: Chapter 446: Terrifying Divine Pet
Ye Fan and Nangong continued to wander among the ruins. At that mont, Ye Fan felt a burning sensation beneath his feet. He lifted his foot and discovered a Crystal Stone, which he picked up. It was scorching hot to the touch.
"This Crystal Stone is the key!" he said. "It must belong to whoever attacked this place."
He handed the Crystal Stone to Nangong, who examined it. "Indeed, it’s extraordinary," Nangong comnted. "The power contained within this Crystal Stone should not be underestimated! I think I rember sothing!"
At Nangong’s words, Ye Fan looked at him intently. Has he recalled so crucial clue? If so, that would be wonderful. Perhaps this mystery can finally be unraveled.
Nangong then said, "A long ti ago, I overheard so high-ranking elders of the Feather Immortal Sect talking. They said they had taken sothing that belonged to the ancient god, Hou Yi!"
"The god Hou Yi!"
Ye Fan’s face grew cold. There had indeed been an era of the Divine Race. During that ti, the entire Human Clan was enslaved by the gods, and the Yuanhong Sword’s previous owner had vanished after battling them.
Ye Fan was still unclear what exactly the Divine Race was, but he was certain of one thing: they were powerful. The Reincarnation Realm was rely the starting point for becoming a god; only by stepping into that realm could one be considered a common deity. It was easy to imagine just how terrifying the Divine Race must have been.
If the Feather Immortal Sect had truly taken sothing a god needed, then it would make sense that they were annihilated. What he didn’t understand was what, exactly, the Feather Immortal Sect had taken. Also, weren’t the gods supposed to have perished during the era of that great powerhouse? Judging by the sect’s ruins, its destruction occurred only a few hundred years ago. Could it be that gods still linger in the modern world? He had to admit, the truth was becoming increasingly convoluted.
Ye Fan asked, "What did they take from the Divine Race?"
Nangong replied, "I’m not exactly sure, but I did hear them ntion a Divine Talisman."
"A Divine Talisman?" Ye Fan thought the na sounded incredibly impressive.
"From the looks of it," he said, "the attacker was clearly here for the Divine Talisman. Whether they actually got it or not is another question!"
"Perhaps we can search the forbidden grounds of the Feather Immortal Sect!" Nangong suggested.
"Good!" Ye Fan imdiately nodded. He and Nangong left the devastated ruins and made their way toward the forbidden grounds of the Feather Immortal Sect.
Unsurprisingly, even the forbidden grounds were now shattered and broken. The attacker had likely searched this place already.
Nangong said, "Behind the forbidden grounds is an abyss. That’s where I fell back then!"
Ye Fan comnted, "There’s probably nothing of value here anymore. If the Divine Talisman ever existed, that person has already taken it."
"Perhaps so," Nangong sighed. Before, his dream had been to destroy all the overseas immortal sects, but now that the Feather Immortal Sect had been annihilated, he only felt a sense of desolation. Such was the fate of an immortal sect. Perhaps his long imprisonnt hadn’t been a coincidence; it was as if the heavens themselves had helped him escape this calamity.
"Chief, let’s go," he said to Ye Fan.
But Ye Fan stopped short.
Nangong asked, "Chief, what’s wrong?"
"Do you hear that? A loud breathing sound," Ye Fan said.
Listening carefully, there was indeed a breathing sound, and it was growing steadily louder.
Nangong said, "It’s coming from the endless abyss behind the forbidden grounds!" He was all too familiar with that place. It was where he had fallen all those years ago, and also where he had attained the status of Supre Sovereign. Unfortunately, even after becoming a Supre Sovereign, he had still failed.
"Let’s go check it out!" Ye Fan was eager to uncover the truth.
Nangong nodded, and together they arrived at the edge of the endless abyss. Ye Fan finally got a look at the massive chasm. An expanse that should have been a void of Darkness Without Boundaries was now churning with intense heat.
"Sothing’s coming out!" Ye Fan exclaid. "Quick, move!"
They both leaped back just as a trendous wave of thermal energy surged upward.
"ROAR!"
A deafening roar bellowed from the blazing light. Ye Fan was stunned. Nangong felt a chill of terror; this was no ordinary power. It was so incredibly strong that not even Ye Fan could match it.
A mythical beast with sharp, ox-like horns leaped from the abyss and roared at them. But that wasn’t all. The beast was a terrifying five zhang tall, an imposing figure indeed. Its body was a mass of inflad, boiling muscles that radiated a palpable sense of despair.
"A Divine Pet!" Nangong exclaid in shock.
"What’s a Divine Pet?" Ye Fan asked.
"A Divine Pet! It’s a pet of the Divine Race. I can’t believe there’s one here," Nangong said, stunned. He had seen records of Divine Pets in the murals of the Feather Immortal Sect. They were described as the tireless fighting machines of the Divine Race, and killing one was said to be exceedingly difficult. He had thought they existed only in legends, but to his astonishnt, a Divine Pet existed in the real world.
The arrival of a Divine Pet always spelled disaster. Now they seed to understand why the entire Feather Immortal Sect had been burned to cinders; this Divine Pet was the culprit. Its power was beyond imagination.
"No ti to think, we have to fight!" Ye Fan said.
"Alright!" Nangong drew the Heavenly Inquiry Sword and joined Ye Fan to confront the creature. The outco was uncertain. After all, this was the monster that had turned the Feather Immortal Sect to ash. It was on a completely different level from any ordinary beast.
They had just charged forward when the Divine Pet made its move, spewing a stream of lava. Ye Fan and Nangong retreated. The molten rock’s temperature was terrifyingly high, and even with their level of strength, they felt an intense, scorching heat. This was the power of a Divine Pet.
At that mont, the Divine Pet moved again. It roared and charged at them, making the very earth tremble. Wherever it passed, not a single blade of grass was left.
"Returning to the Sect Sword!"
Ye Fan unleashed his most powerful sword strike. As the attack descended, the Divine Pet countered with a massive blast of lava, and the two forces collided and neutralized each other. The resulting explosion was powerful enough to chill one to the bone.
Holding the Heavenly Inquiry Sword, Nangong also made his move. "Heavenly Inquiry Sword!" However, his strength was still too weak. He was struck by the charging Divine Pet and knocked into the abyss, his fate unknown.
"Nangong!" Ye Fan cried out, but there was no reply. His brow furrowed. The Divine Pet was overwhelmingly strong, and Nangong’s condition was unknown.
Am I also destined to be slain here by this Divine Pet?
But he refused to accept such a fate. He imdiately charged, determined to fight the Divine Pet to the death. A powerful wave of Sword Qi descended, severing one of the Divine Pet’s horns.
Enraged, the Divine Pet charged heedlessly at Ye Fan, shattering the low hills in its path. Unable to dodge in ti, Ye Fan could only leap into the air.
"Slaughter Sword Dao!"
His strength had increased after he broke through to the Saint realm, and the Slaughter Sword Dao he could now unleash was on a completely different level. A colossal, blood-red slash descended from the sky, severing the Divine Pet’s other horn.
Ye Fan breathed a slight sigh of relief, but what happened next stunned him: the Divine Pet’s horns grew back instantly. The sight terrified him. It was his first ti fighting such a formidable creature, and it was impossible to face it without imnse nerve.
While dodging the Divine Pet’s lava, Ye Fan was struck by the beast. He let out a muffled groan and spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, his face turning deathly pale.
Without a doubt, the Divine Pet’s power had been crushing him from the very beginning. Ye Fan felt the pressure of utter despair.
