Chapter 396: Chapter 395: Bringing Back to Life
Sensing the dim, unfamiliar environnt, Ye Fan whispered sharply, "Where is this?"
"This is a dreamscape I have created, young man. Surprising, isn’t it?" a deep, muffled voice sounded. It was unmistakably the voice of the Cain Ancestor.
Ye Fan was stunned. To say he was surprised was an understatent. To think he would appear in a dream... it was almost unbelievable.
"Do not be afraid. I will not harm you," Cain said.
"Are you the Cain Ancestor?" Ye Fan asked, puzzled.
"Yes, I am Cain," the voice replied gravely.
"Why am I here?" Ye Fan asked at once.
"This is your dream, but you are too weak to sustain this world within it," Cain explained. "Therefore, my dream is hosting us instead. We are speaking within my dream."
"I chose to save you precisely because of Heather," he continued. "However, my help cos with a condition."
"What condition?" Ye Fan asked.
"You must leave Heather. She is a vampire, and you are a human. You are not of the sa race. I do not wish for you two to be together."
Ye Fan imdiately replied, "Senior, you misunderstand. I have absolutely no intention of being with her! I agree to your condition."
BANG!
He was sent flying, spitting a mouthful of blood. He had no idea why this invisible old man had suddenly flown into a rage and taken it out on him. He staggered to his feet, frustrated. The ability to construct a miniature world within a dream was sothing far beyond his current realm—a completely unattainable power.
"So, you’re hurting Heather’s feelings! Humans truly are all heartbreakers!" the Cain Ancestor rebuked.
Ye Fan was utterly speechless. I really want to curse him. Are you fucking crazy? You’re not satisfied with that answer? Did you want
to say that we can never be separated? Is there any sanity left in this world?
"Then what answer would have satisfied you?" Ye Fan asked.
"My satisfaction is not required. You just need to rember what I told you: leave her. If the two of you stay together, there will be no good end for you!"
This ti, Ye Fan didn’t dare answer rashly, afraid the old man would strike him again. Being trapped in soone else’s dream was truly infuriating. So, he chose to remain silent.
"Wait... your blood... it radiates an extraordinary aura!" Cain exclaid, his shock palpable.
Although Ye Fan couldn’t see his face, he could feel the Ancestor’s overwhelming astonishnt.
"Why extraordinary?" Ye Fan asked. He had noticed long ago that his blood was unusual, though he never understood the reason. He just knew that anything with a taste for blood seed to crave his.
"You will understand in due ti. From the mont this blood beca yours, your path was set. You have a long road ahead of you," Cain said. "Now, let
bring you back from the brink!"
Ye Fan hurriedly pressed, "You have to explain it to ! Why is it extraordinary? What mission do I have?"
"There is no need for more words. You will find out in the future. This is your destiny."
Then the Blood Ancestor fell silent.
I’m going to lose my mind, Ye Fan thought. Why does this guy love being so cryptic? And the mystery he’s weaving is a huge one! This kind of suspense is torture for soone as compulsive as .
Just as he was about to press the matter again, his body began to float into the air.
What the hell is going on? he thought, shocked. He was completely powerless to resist.
Countless streams of blood-red energy and Life Force poured into him. Ye Fan could feel his wounds healing at a visible rate. The mont they closed, he was unceremoniously dropped back to the ground, landing face-first in the dirt. The feeling was not just painful; it was humiliating.
Then, Cain’s voice spoke again. "Your blood is a delicacy, but I must restrain my greed, lest I bring a fatal disaster upon myself. From this mont on, you have no connection to my Vampire Clan. I have healed you, and your debt to my clan is repaid!"
With that, the presence faded as if falling into a deep slumber.
Ye Fan had received a massive amount of information, but before he could process any of it, the world began to spin. After the dizzy spell passed, he couldn’t rember a thing.
When he regained consciousness, he found himself lying in the cold, dark main hall. Everything that had just happened felt like a dream—which, of course, it was. He checked his injuries and found them completely gone. His depleted Life Force was fully restored. He was back at his peak. It was a feeling he hadn’t experienced in a long ti. When he had collapsed, he had felt his life slipping away. Now, it all seed like just a bad dream.
Ye Fan walked out of the Holy Tomb and saw Heather waiting for him, her eyes red and swollen. Even though she was the high and mighty Ancestor Queen, the devastating losses the vampires had suffered, coupled with Ye Fan’s brush with death, had been a heavy blow. In the end, even a Vampire Queen had her own feelings and vulnerabilities.
To her imnse relief, Ye Fan had erged completely unhard. The mont she saw him, she threw herself into his arms, unable to hold back her sorrow.
Ye Fan smiled. "What are you still crying for? I’m perfectly fine, aren’t I?"
"I was so worried," Heather wept into his chest. "I was terrified I’d never see you again."
"It’s alright. Everything is fine now. You don’t have to worry anymore," Ye Fan said, looking over at the Vampire Clan’s base, which was already being rebuilt. "The Werewolf assault must have had a significant impact on you."
"It did," Heather said, her expression turning serious. "And I suspect the Bright Holy Temple won’t miss this opportunity to pressure our Vampire Clan. They are a force to be reckoned with, and it’s deeply concerning. At least, until my grandfather erges, I don’t have the confidence to face them."
"Then what should be done?" Ye Fan asked.
"Don’t worry," she replied. "Although the Bright Holy Temple is watching us like a tiger stalking its prey, they are wary of one person: my grandfather. I’m certain the Bright Holy Temple was behind the Werewolves’ attack. They wanted to use them to probe our clan’s strength. Now that the entire Werewolf force has been annihilated, they won’t dare make any major moves in the short term, even if they try so minor provocations. After all, if our two great factions were to engage in all-out war, the Bright Holy Temple would face consequences it could not bear."
What Heather said made sense to Ye Fan. Both sides were superpowers; a direct confrontation would co at a staggering cost. A war wouldn’t break out until the Bright Holy Temple was fully prepared.
Ye Fan nodded, agreeing with her analysis. Heather may have been a woman, but she possessed the talent to command an army of thousands. Man or woman, she was a true leader of imnse caliber.
"I have to go," Ye Fan said to her.
"You’re leaving already?" Heather asked, looking at him with reluctance.
They had gone from enemies to strangers, and then to friends. Now, standing here, Ye Fan wasn’t sure what to make of their relationship at all.
