Chapter 346: Chapter 345: Misunderstanding Hard to Resolve
In Ye Fan’s opinion, this breathtaking beauty might have looked celestial, but her temper was far too explosive.
"I didn’t harm them, so why should I just surrender?" he said. "Instead of wasting ti hassling , you should go to the scene and investigate the truth for yourselves!"
"Hmph! Once we’ve captured you, the truth will naturally co to light!" the woman retorted.
Ye Fan knew they were beyond reason, utterly convinced he was the murderer. With no other choice, he shrugged. "In that case, let our blades decide the truth!"
He imdiately drew the Yuanhong Sword and launched his attack.
"Pure Yang Power!"
"This is bad! Everyone, get back!" the woman shouted in shock.
But it was too late. A sandstorm began to swirl as a wave of potent True Yuan, infused with Gang Qi, swept forward. It passed through the group, sending several of them flying before they crashed heavily onto the sand.
If Ye Fan hadn’t held back, they would already be dead.
He then rushed toward the woman. Her strength was at the King level, and Ye Fan wanted to test his ttle against this fiery woman. No, not fiery, but a woman with a very strong personality.
The woman hadn’t anticipated Ye Fan could dismantle their Array in an instant. When she saw him swinging the Yuanhong Sword and charging at her, she quickly raised her own Flying Sword to et him in close combat.
CLANG!
Ye Fan’s strike sent her sword flying. An intense pain shot through the woman’s wrist, and she realized just how terrifying he was. She tried to reposition herself and use her movent technique to defend, but discovered his blade was already at her throat. She froze in terror. Their Zhenwu Sect specialized in Swordsmanship, yet she had never encountered swordplay this frightening. He had subdued her in a single exchange.
"Now, at last, we can have so quiet," Ye Fan said disdainfully.
"Senior Sister!" the group from the Zhenwu Sect called out anxiously. They dared not rush forward and could only surround Ye Fan.
Ye Fan laughed. "You’d better not co any closer, or else you’ll only find her corpse."
"Release our Senior Sister!" a man shouted.
"Stand down!" the woman interjected.
"Senior Sister!"
The group looked at her with pained expressions. They didn’t dare disregard her safety; they were a united team, after all. The two who hadn’t been united were already dead in the desert.
"Did you not hear ?" the woman scolded.
"Yes!" The group reluctantly retreated, standing twenty ters away as they kept a wary eye on Ye Fan.
"I really didn’t murder your junior sister and brother," Ye Fan said.
"Hmph! You still dare to argue? From this day forward, the Zhenwu Sect considers you a sworn enemy!" the woman retorted.
Ye Fan was growing angry, but rembering the woman was his hostage, he said, "What does the Zhenwu Sect matter to ? I’ve never been afraid of anyone. But for now, please, try to think about this rationally. If I had really killed them, would I have stood here waiting for you to show up? And even if I had killed them and you found out, what would stop
from silencing you all as well? Why would I waste my breath explaining things? It isn’t necessary. I can kill every single one of you, so you’d best not doubt my strength!"
At that mont, sothing dawned on the woman. He was right. From their brief clash, she could tell that Ye Fan’s strength was unfathomable. She was already a King-level expert, yet he had defeated her in a single move; it was no exaggeration to say she was completely outmatched. If Ye Fan had truly killed her junior sect mbers, he could have easily killed the rest of them upon being discovered. After all, only the dead can keep secrets. But he hadn’t. Instead, he was going to great lengths to explain. Perhaps, as he said, there was more to this situation than t the eye.
"You can go see the battlefield for yourself," Ye Fan said. "Compare their wounds to the wounds on these people from the Northern Bear Country."
This ti, the woman finally didn’t lose her temper.
Ye Fan said with a smile, "You know, you’re quite beautiful when you’re not scowling!"
"You!" The woman was instantly angered, but Ye Fan quickly held up his hands. "Go on, I won’t disturb you!"
She went to examine the bodies of the n from the Northern Bear Country. Just as he’d implied, their injuries had been caused by an overwhelmingly domineering power. When she saw their leader, she found he had died a miserable death, as if he had been tortured. Though the man was dead, the power in his body hadn’t completely dissipated. She could feel the lingering aura of the King-level Realm, which ant the man who’d been tortured to death was a King-level expert. Thinking back to her junior sister and brother, it was obvious they didn’t have the strength to kill a King-level expert. That ant these foreigners must have been killed by Ye Fan.
She then looked back at her own sect mbers and realized they had been killed with their own swords. If Ye Fan had wanted to kill them, he could have simply crushed them with his superior power. There would have been no need for the elaborate process of breaking their swords only to use them as the murder weapons. All the evidence indicated that Ye Fan was not the murderer, and that her junior sister had, in fact, taken her own life.
Ye Fan remained patient, content to wait for them to figure it out.
Then, with a sad expression, the woman looked at the bodies of her junior brother and sister. "You disregarded the group’s interests to act on your own. Do you see the consequence now? It’s just a sha this price was too high for you to pay."
She turned to Ye Fan. "The truth is clear now. You aren’t their murderer. I’m sorry, I misunderstood you."
"As long as the truth is clear, that’s all that matters," Ye Fan said with a smile.
The woman’s beautiful features softened considerably as she spoke with sincerity, "And thank you for killing their murderers."
"I act according to my own principles," Ye Fan stated plainly. "If those n hadn’t dared to provoke the Divine Land, I would have stayed out of it."
He had no intention of avenging the two Zhenwu Sect disciples. In a world like this, there was no reason to kill one group of people for the sake of another. He did what he did because the actions of the n from the Northern Bear Country had crossed his line.
The woman nodded. It was true. In this world, and especially in the cruel society of the underworld, no one would stick their neck out for a stranger.
She cupped her fist in a salute. "My na is Bai Zhii. Whether you intended to help us or not, I owe you a favor for what happened today. I will repay it one day!"
"Thanks, but there’s no need. Farewell." With that, Ye Fan turned and left.
Watching Ye Fan’s retreating figure, Bai Zhii found she understood him even less. She continued to speculate about his identity. The Zhenwu Sect was considered a first-rate power in the Divine Land and was generally well-inford, yet she had never seen or heard of him before. Given his youth and terrifying strength, he couldn’t possibly be a nobody in the underworld.
Curious, Bai Zhii gazed in the direction he had disappeared and murmured to herself, "What a strange man. I wonder if we’ll ever et again."
