Chapter 345: Chapter 344: Worse than Death
In the end, the only person left from the Dongzheng Court’s forces was their king-class leader, who stood alone and disheveled in the wind. He knew Ye Fan was strong, but he never imagined he could be this terrifying.
At that mont, he drew his weapon, a blade specially forged by the Dongzheng Court. He shouted at Ye Fan, "Kid, from this mont on, you are a sworn enemy of the Dongzheng Emperor, and he will personally pass judgnt upon you!"
"Is that so? If he dares to act so recklessly in the Divine Land, I’ll make sure he never returns!" Ye Fan retorted disdainfully.
"You’re courting death!" the leader roared, charging at Ye Fan.
Under the moonlight, Ye Fan swung his Yuanhong Sword. The entire motion took less than five seconds, a testant to his incredible speed. Instantly, the weapon in the king-class leader’s hand shattered. Overco with pain, he dropped to one knee, struggling to look up at Ye Fan.
"Still feeling so bold?" Ye Fan asked.
The leader yelled back, "You clearly could have killed . Why didn’t you?"
"Did you think it would be that easy?" Ye Fan taunted. "Impossible. I’ve said it before: anyone who dares to insult the Shen Zhou people will pay a price born of despair!"
With that, Ye Fan’s sword fell, and blood gushed forth.
"ARGH!"
The man scread, desperately clutching his shoulder. Ye Fan had just severed his arm. He didn’t stop. With another flash of his sword, the man’s other arm was also severed, a grueso sight under the cold moonlight.
The king-class leader roared at Ye Fan, "If you have the guts, then just kill !"
"Kill you? You’re too naive. I will torture you to death and let you understand the terror of the Shen Zhou people. This is the price for insulting Shen Zhou Martial Artists!"
Ye Fan struck again, severing the tendons in the man’s legs. Now, he lay helpless on the ground, gasping for air as he stared at Ye Fan in utter despair. Despite this, he glared fiercely, his will remaining strong, showing no trace of fear. But Ye Fan simply walked toward him slowly, the Yuanhong Sword held ready. With a single strike, he pinned the man to the desert sand.
The leader laughed wildly. "Feels good! Go on, kill
if you’ve got the guts! I’m not afraid of you!"
"Still so stubborn," Ye Fan remarked.
He struck down with his sword once more. This ti, the man wailed, his defiance finally shattering. As a seasoned expert, Ye Fan had his own thods. He could inflict ten thousand tis more pain without granting the release of death. The king-class leader trembled uncontrollably. Even a man as tough as him could not withstand Ye Fan’s cruel torture.
Ye Fan didn’t stop, striking down with his sword yet again.
"AHHH!" the man howled in agony.
It had to be said, offending Ye Fan was truly a fate worse than death.
This ti, his voice trembling, he begged, "Please, just give
a quick death!"
"Giving up already?" Ye Fan replied mockingly. "My ga has just begun. How could it end so quickly?"
He brought his sword down again, and the king-class leader finally broke. Through the pain, he cursed, "The Dongzheng Emperor is a dog, and I am a dog’s servant!"
"Curse louder!" Ye Fan demanded, thrusting his sword downward once more.
Using every last ounce of his strength, the leader scread, "The Dongzheng Emperor is a dog!"
With a final, clean stroke, Ye Fan beheaded him. "If you had been this spineless from the start," he said, shaking his head, "you wouldn’t have had to suffer so much. People these days... even I can’t figure them out," he added with the air of a world-weary elder.
He then walked toward the collapsed woman. "The nightmare is over," he told her. "You can go now."
Her eyes were bloodshot as she scread at him, "Why didn’t you show up sooner? If you had co earlier, my senior brother wouldn’t have died!"
You still won’t give up on a man like that? Ye Fan was montarily speechless. "Forget it," he said aloud. "I can’t be bothered with you."
He prepared to leave. Even my sleep was disturbed. I’m so unlucky. My fortune is really at a low point.
But the woman picked up her broken sword and charged at him, shrieking, "I’ll kill you to avenge my senior brother!"
Hearing this, Ye Fan grew furious. I wasn’t the one who killed that cowardly, faithless man, yet she wants revenge against ? Does she really think I have no temper?
He casually flicked his Yuanhong Sword, sending the broken blade flying from the woman’s hand. She scrambled to pick it up, but realizing she was no match for Ye Fan, she turned the blade on herself. With a final, unwilling cry, she collapsed.
Although he was partly responsible for the woman’s death, Ye Fan felt no regret or guilt. After all, she had stubbornly sought her own end.
However, just as he was about to leave, his brow furrowed. He whipped his sword around, instantly dissolving an invisible wave of Sword Qi. In the next mont, more than a dozen Flying Swords shot toward him.
"Cross and Diagonal Sword Technique!" Ye Fan roared. He swung the Yuanhong Sword in a wide arc, sending the attacking blades plunging into the desert sand. A mont later, more than a dozen people appeared, all dressed in the white robes of the Zhenwu Sect.
The woman leading them yelled, "Insolent fiend! You dare kill a mber of our Zhenwu Sect? You will not escape today!" The group angrily closed in, surrounding him.
I’m speechless. I should have known better than to ddle. If I had just stayed out of it and kept sleeping, none of this would have happened. The worst part is, with no one left alive, I have no way to prove my innocence.
"Are those two your Zhenwu Sect disciples?" he said aloud. "They were already dead by the ti I arrived. You’ve got the wrong person. The murderers were this group from the Northern Bear Country. I’ve already killed them all."
Ye Fan had no intention of admitting what really happened. Besides, the facts were close enough, differing only in the final monts.
"Do you take us for fools?" the leading woman shot back. "My junior sister is lying right next to you! Are you daring to say you didn’t kill her?"
This is giving
a headache. Ye Fan sighed. "Believe it or not, I had no reason to kill them. They were killed by that group from the Northern Bear Country. Farewell." He paused before adding with cold finality, "On second thought, may we never et again."
He turned to leave, but the group blocked his path.
"Kill him!" the woman ordered. "Avenge our junior sister!"
"Yes!"
The dozen or so disciples imdiately closed in, their Flying Swords weaving together as they began to form a Sword Array. Ye Fan simply stood his ground, unmoving.
"Void Spirit Sword!" the woman shouted. With her at its center, her sword shot toward Ye Fan’s head. He dodged quickly, but in the next instant, three more Flying Swords closed in to envelop him. The dozen blades began to circle him in a terrifying, deadly cycle.
After parrying several attacks, Ye Fan finally leaped out of the Sword Array, only for the group to charge him again.
"I advise you all not to push ," Ye Fan warned, his voice low.
"Surrender now, you little thief!" the leading woman commanded.
In the clear moonlight, Ye Fan finally got a good look at her face. He saw a flawless, oval face with eyes as clear as water and brows as if from a painting. She was a stunning beauty.
