Chapter 251: Chapter 250: On the Brink of Desperation
Ye Fan asked, "Don’t you have any other forces prepared?"
The Yan Clan shouldn’t be this weak!
"I have brought half of the Yan Clan’s disciples with ," Yan Ning said. "The rest are guarding the Holy Daughter during her transformation! Therefore, we are at a disadvantage in terms of numbers!"
I really don’t want to demoralize this old man any further. A disadvantage in numbers? We’re clearly far inferior in strength as well. If Alice weren’t still with the Yan Clan, I would have fled long ago. How can we possibly win this fight?
Ye Fan held the Yuanhong Sword. Although the blade was incredibly sharp, his current strength was insufficient to command its full power. The Five Poison Sect was slowly closing in, seemingly intent on annihilating them all.
At that mont, Ye Fan shouted, "Five Poison Ancestor, I’ll take you on!"
He was acting out of desperation. Even if he didn’t care about the others, he had to think of Alice. He could not allow the Five Poison Sect to breach the Yan Clan’s defenses today, no matter what. Otherwise, Alice would be in grave danger.
The Five Poison Ancestor scoffed. "And here I was wondering who it could be. Turns out it’s just so reckless brat who doesn’t know the difference between life and death!"
Indeed, if one were to go by age, the Five Poison Ancestor was at least as old as Yan Ning. Appearances could be deceiving. In fact, he looked even younger than Ye Fan, a result of his Five Poison Skill which allowed him to reverse his aging.
Ye Fan declared, "I dared to challenge you because I have the strength to back it up. You should never underestimate a martial artist—any martial artist who dares to face you!"
"Is that so?" the Five Poison Ancestor sneered. Just as he was about to charge, one of his subordinates cried out, "It’s terrible, Ancestor! The Fourth Elder is dead!"
"What?" the Five Poison Ancestor bellowed.
Although the Fourth Elder wasn’t the strongest, he was still considered a master in the Five Poison Sect. Hearing of his death at such a crucial mont, how could the Five Poison Ancestor simply let it go?
Ye Fan shouted, "This is what happens when you underestimate your opponent!"
"You killed him?" the Five Poison Ancestor demanded.
"That’s right," Ye Fan said with a smirk. "I killed him."
Yan Clan Patriarch Yan Ning and the Great Elder of the Yan Clan were stunned. So that was why Ye Fan had disappeared from the battlefield for a short while! They had thought he’d fled, only to return out of a guilty conscience. Now it was clear they had completely misjudged him. He had never intended to flee; his brief absence was for one purpose only: to assassinate the Fourth Elder of the Five Poison Sect.
The Five Poison Ancestor’s voice turned cold. "Very good. Then you can go and keep him company in death!"
He shot toward Ye Fan. Confident, Ye Fan drew the Yuanhong Sword to defend himself, but in the blink of an eye, the Five Poison Ancestor was upon him.
So fast!
Ye Fan couldn’t react in ti and was sent flying by the strike. He spat out a mouthful of blood, his insides feeling as if they had been pulverized. There was nothing to be done. The Five Poison Ancestor was simply too strong. Ye Fan had not yet reached the Emperor Level, so how could he possibly be a match for a powerhouse who had been at that level for many years?
Ye Fan slowly pushed himself up from the ground, but the Five Poison Ancestor struck again. Caught off guard, Ye Fan was sent flying once more. This was simply not a fight between equals.
"Young man!" Yan Ning and the Great Elder of the Yan Clan cried out in despair.
Although they’d had so minor, negligible disagreents with Ye Fan in the past, it had never escalated to the point of open hostility. In their eyes, these were all small matters. But now, they were truly moved. For their sake, and for the sake of the Yan Clan behind them, Ye Fan was withstanding the Five Poison Ancestor’s lethal attacks with his own body.
If Ye Fan knew what they were thinking, he would have scoffed. Heh, you think I’m doing this for you? I’m only doing it for Alice.
"Young man, stop! You’re no match for him!"
Although Yan Ning was so drained he didn’t even have the strength to stand, he still shouted a warning to Ye Fan. The Great Elder of the Yan Clan was in no better shape. He was tied down by two elders from the Five Poison Sect and was completely unable to intervene.
But Ye Fan still forced himself to his feet.
"Oh? An indestructible cockroach? My favorite," the Ancestor sneered. "Let’s see just how many of my attacks you can withstand!" He then charged at Ye Fan again.
"Yuanhong, strike!" Ye Fan roared.
Yuanhong shot forward, wreathed in a terrifying killing aura potent enough to shred a King Level expert. He had taken hit after hit, enduring it all, just to wait for the perfect mont to unleash this killing blow.
Not good!
The Five Poison Ancestor tried to block, but it was too late. The Yuanhong Sword pierced straight through his body. The montum of the Ancestor’s charge sent Ye Fan flying backward, and he crashed through several large trees before finally coming to a stop. Staggering, he coughed up another mouthful of blood and collapsed to one knee.
"AH!" the Five Poison Ancestor scread in pain. His followers from the Five Poison Sect rushed to his side, their faces fraught with worry.
After about five minutes, the Five Poison Ancestor spoke, his voice trembling. "Kid, in all my years, you are the first person to injure . I admit, I was careless. This ti, I will show you the true aning of despair!"
He got up and began to walk slowly toward Ye Fan.
But Ye Fan struggled to speak. "Five Poison Ancestor, if you dare take another step, I fear you will be the one to die!"
"Oh? And why is that?" Despite his disdainful expression, the Five Poison Ancestor did not advance.
Spitting out another mouthful of blood, Ye Fan said, "You’re seriously injured, but so is our Clan Leader. If he were to risk his life in an all-out attack, what do you think your chances would be?"
Instantly, the Five Poison Ancestor shot a wary glance at Yan Ning, who was sitting in the distance.
"Do you think that can scare ?" he retorted. "You’re wrong. He was hit by my poison arts. He won’t be able to make a move for at least three days!"
"Hmph! Don’t be so sure," Yan Ning said, playing along with Ye Fan’s bluff. "I have road the martial world for many years. Did you think I wouldn’t have a few tricks up my sleeve?"
"Interesting, very interesting! But interesting people tend to die young. And that includes you!"
Although the Five Poison Ancestor was afraid, he had not yet let fear cloud his judgnt. He still had unique thods of his own.
"If you don’t believe , then co and find out for yourself!" Ye Fan challenged. He was stalling for ti, desperately needing a mont to heal. Even at his peak, he was likely no match for the Five Poison Ancestor, but he would at least have a fighting chance. He was the type of person who would charge toward certain death without hesitation.
"Are you trying to bluff ?" the Five Poison Ancestor asked. "But it seems you have all overlooked one crucial detail!"
The three of them looked at him, puzzled.
"What detail?" Ye Fan asked.
"You’ve overlooked the fact that the Five Poison Sect is not just , but hundreds of others. Although they aren’t strong, their numbers make up for it. With all of them attacking, what chance do you three have of winning?!"
In the end, the Five Poison Ancestor’s cowardice—or perhaps his desire to live—won out. He did not step forward himself but retreated into the crowd of his followers.
A sense of dread washed over Ye Fan and his two companions. He was right. In the current situation, no matter what the Five Poison Ancestor chose to do, victory was his. There would be no unexpected twists.
The Five Poison Ancestor declared, "I will let you experience the agony of being hacked to death by a thousand blades!"
"Attack!" he bellowed. "Whoever brings
their heads will be taught the Five Poison Skill!"
Instantly, a horde of disciples charged forward, heedless of the danger. Although Ye Fan and his companions were formidable, they were spent forces. The disciples were not afraid; even if the trio still had so fight left in them, their own advantage lay in overwhelming numbers. Of course, there was another, more important motivator: the Five Poison Skill. Anyone who succeeded would inherit the powerful technique, giving them the chance to beco an elder of the Five Poison Sect, or perhaps even the next Sect Leader. Spurred on by this temptation, the disciples of the Five Poison Sect charged fearlessly toward the trio.
