Connor did indeed use his footwork, dodging the bullets which had slowed to the speed of a thrown sandbag.

Sensing sothing, Fang Zhen fired two more shots.

The sa thing happened. Once the bullets entered a certain range, they slowed down.

Connor dodged them again.

However, the act of dodging weakened Connor's control, giving Batuma a chance to escape the energy vortex.

Batuma retreated quickly. She finally stopped staggering and managed to break free from the influence of Connor's palm arts.

Fang Zhen now understood. He finally knew how Connor's ability—or rather, the ability of the Sea Tide Family—worked.

The space around them was filled with various energies, and Connor Hai Chao could manipulate them, forming undercurrents of energy that swirled like the tide.

Or perhaps, more like ocean currents and hidden streams.

This energy wasn't strong at first, but it grew larger the more it swirled. It beca so powerful that its fluctuations prevented enemies from getting close. Even ranged projectiles were blocked by the undercurrents.

His enemies would find themselves trapped in an energy vortex, completely unable to escape, just as Batuma had been monts ago.

It was just as Avera had said: the more the Sea Tide Family used their Crystal Bone Techniques, the stronger they beca. In a prolonged fight, their power could even surpass the incredibly fierce Thunder Strike Power of the Lei Ming Family.

Understanding this, Fang Zhen frowned. He took two steps back to avoid the Energy Tide and took a mont to think.

'The Sea Tide Family's ability is quite powerful, and seemingly without weakness. It's a textbook example of overwhelming force, like a greatsword that needs no edge, crushing opponents with sheer power. It's a straightforward, orthodox style that buries you under an avalanche of energy.'

'This kind of raw power, used for direct confrontation, is the hardest to defeat.'

A smile spread across Connor Hai Chao's face. It was a clear provocation, as if he believed Fang Zhen was incapable of breaking through the defense and power of his Energy Tide.

However, Fang Zhen's brow was furrowed for less than a second before it smoothed out again.

'He'd figured out how to beat it.'

Fang Zhen's expression remained unchanged as he quickly retreated seven or eight ters.

Connor Hai Chao froze.

Connor continued to perform the set of palm techniques that channeled energy as he moved closer to Fang Zhen.

But Fang Zhen paid him no mind, moving another seven or eight ters to a different position.

Connor seed to realize sothing, and his expression instantly soured.

The others present still hadn't figured out what was going on.

Only the quick-witted Batuma understood at a glance.

"Hahaha, clever." Batuma was surprisingly carefree. She had almost been killed monts ago, yet here she was, laughing.

Batuma laughed heartily. "Connor Hai Chao, your Sea Tide Family's ability is powerful, I'll give you that. It's incredibly hard to break."

"But who says you have to break it?!"

"You can't catch the guy in the armor, so you might as well just play with yourself over there. Let's see how long you can keep up your Crystal Bone Techniques."

"You'll just tire yourself to death!"

Batuma had exposed Connor Hai Chao's awkward predicant, and his expression grew even darker.

Batuma had hit the nail on the head.

Connor's energy undercurrents were indeed powerful. In a head-on confrontation, like two armies clashing, most people would be no match for the Sea Tide Family's Crystal Bone Techniques. It was difficult to break through, and once you were trapped, escape was impossible.

However, Connor's Crystal Bone Techniques had a fatal weakness.

If his opponent refused to engage, what could Connor possibly do?

Fang Zhen had seen Connor's weakness at a glance and simply refused to play his ga.

'No matter how strong you are, it's like a breeze blowing past a mountain. No matter how fierce you are, it's like the moon shining on a river.'

'So what if you're strong? If you can't hit , it's useless. If you can't trap , it's all for nothing.'

anwhile, to protect himself, Connor had to continuously use his Crystal Bone Techniques just to stay safe from being picked off by the Desert Viper.

At this rate, Fang Zhen could win simply by attrition, wearing Connor down until he collapsed.

Connor hadn't expected Fang Zhen to realize this so quickly. Now, he was the one at a disadvantage, not daring to stop for even a mont.

Sweat began to stream down Connor's forehead.

After struggling for another seven or eight seconds, Connor seed to realize that if he kept this up, he would inevitably die from exhaustion. He had no choice but to change his tactics.

Connor let out a low roar and thrust his palms outward.

With this move, the Energy Tide that had gathered around him dissipated.

The energy undercurrents scattered in all directions. The blast was strong enough to make Batuma and her subordinates, who were so distance away, and even la, sway and stagger back a few steps.

Fang Zhen stood firm as if his feet were rooted to the ground, withstanding the impact of the dispersing energy currents.

Once the Energy Tide had swept past, the protective energy field around Connor was gone.

Fang Zhen raised his Desert Viper, preparing to fire.

"Stop! Don't shoot!" Connor suddenly yelled.

"I give up," Connor said bluntly. "I surrender. Anlon Lie Feng's treasure is yours. Take anything of value from

as a ransom for my life."

"I submit. According to the battlefield customs for a noble's surrender, I can ransom myself with wealth or treasure. I hope you'll grant

that opportunity."

Fang Zhen raised an eyebrow.

This Connor Hai Chao was certainly adaptable. Seeing that the situation was hopeless, he surrendered imdiately.

'Interesting.'

To show his sincerity, Connor Hai Chao raised both hands and made no other moves.

Seeing Connor surrender, la stopped her attack. She frowned, clearly conflicted, as if debating whether to surrender as well or try to escape.

A sneak attack was out of the question; she couldn't win anyway.

"Tsk, tsk. Is this all the backbone you people from the thirteen families have?"

"It's truly pathetic."

Batuma taunted from the side, clearly enjoying the drama and trying to stir up more trouble.

Connor was thick-skinned. His expression didn't change, and he didn't even glance at Batuma, simply keeping his hands raised.

Seeing her prodding had failed, Batuma lost interest. With a flick, she retracted her whip. "How boring," she said.

Fang Zhen looked at Connor. "You want to surrender? First, I need to see so sincerity."

"I'm going to ask you a few questions, and you'd better answer them truthfully."

"Otherwise, your surrender won't even be on the table."

Connor took a deep breath and lowered his hands. "Ask."

Fang Zhen looked at Connor and asked, "Who exactly was Anlon Lie Feng? And how did he really die?"

"Why is he dead?"

The mont Fang Zhen asked, Connor's expression changed drastically, as if he'd never expected such a question.

For a long mont, Connor didn't answer.

Fang Zhen's eyebrow twitched upward, and he raised his pistol again.

"Heh. The dirty little secrets of the thirteen families... If they won't talk, I'll talk for them," Batuma said, casually coiling her leather whip in her hand.

"Batuma, shut your mouth!"

"This has nothing to do with you! Shut up!"

"It won't kill you to keep your mouth shut!"

Before Batuma could finish, Connor, la, and even Avera, who was still on the ground, all cried out at once, trying to silence her.

"Hmph. The more you don't want

to talk, the more I'm going to," Batuma sneered. She looked at Fang Zhen and said, "Anlon Lie Feng was murdered! It was a conspiracy by the thirteen families!"

"And the reason they killed Anlon Lie Feng was..."
