Aiden had electrocuted his subordinate to death.
Fang Zhen had already reached his spear. He pulled it free with one hand and shook it with all his might, flinging the charred corpse of the Knife-legged Woman toward Aiden.
The orb of lightning hovering before Aiden relentlessly pumled the corpse, blasting it to pieces that scattered in all directions.
At that mont, Fang Zhen's form blurred into an afterimage. He activated the Gangzan Mantra again, spear in hand. He executed a Progressive Barrier Capture lunge, imbuing his spear with the Power Mountain Seal as he thrust it at Aiden!
He moved with the grace of a soaring swan, his spear a coiling dragon. A flash of light, and he was there!
"PFFT!"
While Aiden's lightning was still drawn to the remnants of the Knife-legged Woman, Fang Zhen's spear pierced his lower abdon.
Aiden scread in agony as the orb of lightning above his head violently erupted.
Both Fang Zhen's Death Aversion and Super-Perception flared to life.
Through his Super-Perception, Fang Zhen saw the orb above Aiden's head burst apart, turning the surrounding area into a thunderstorm of chaotically striking lightning.
anwhile, his Death Aversion filled him with a profound sense of dread, screaming at him to get away—fast.
Fang Zhen imdiately yanked his spear free and used the Assassination Step Technique to retreat rapidly.
As he fell back, the thunderstorm erupted.
Dozens of lightning bolts crackled and exploded chaotically around Aiden.
Even though Fang Zhen retreated in ti, he was still hit by four or five lightning strikes.
Fortunately, they were all blocked by the Gangzan Mantra, consuming only so of his Seal Power.
He quickly pulled out of the lightning's range.
The violent storm of lightning raged for three to four seconds before gradually subsiding.
Aiden was completely spent. He couldn't even remain standing; his legs buckled, and he collapsed to the ground. His face was ashen, utterly drained of color.
A gash had been torn open in his lower abdon.
Aiden was a tough one. Gritting his teeth, he sent white arcs of electricity across his lower abdon. The lightning instantly cauterized the wound, making him scream in agony.
But at the sa ti, the wound was sealed for the mont, staunching the flow of blood.
Fang Zhen felt a slight sense of regret.
'Aiden's counterattack ca too fast. I didn't have ti to twist the spear in his gut. Otherwise, he'd probably be finished by now.'
'Still, this outco isn't bad either.'
Fang Zhen drew his Desert Viper and fired several precise shots at Aiden.
He wasn't aiming for the head, but for his shoulder joints and knees.
'Aiden's clearly out of the fight. I'll cripple him first and keep him alive. I can interrogate him for intel later.'
Sure enough, Aiden had no fight left in him. He just sat there and took all five bullets.
Both of Aiden's shoulders and his left knee were pierced through, leaving him completely crippled. He couldn't even attempt to resist.
Having dealt with Aiden Leing and his subordinates, Fang Zhen turned toward the battlefield where Connor and la were besieging Batuma.
Batuma was still barely holding on.
The woman's Crystal Bone Technique manifested through her long whip. With it, she could summon whip-like energy projections resembling a Hydra, which could in turn unleash fire, ice, and poison.
As a Black Garden Assassin, Batuma was already quite powerful, but she was at a major disadvantage against the combined might of la and Connor.
la's attacks were less of a concern. While her shadowy assaults were chillingly vicious and bizarrely unpredictable, they had limited effect against Batuma's area-of-effect abilities.
After all, la specialized in assassination. A scene like this was better suited for a Warrior; it wasn't her area of expertise.
The one truly putting pressure on Batuma was Connor Hai Chao.
Fang Zhen approached this battlefield, but did not enter it rashly.
He sensed that there was sothing very wrong in the area ahead.
Connor Hai Chao continuously moved his hands—pushing, pulling, and rotating them in the air. He looked like he was performing a one-man show, practicing so strange palm technique.
However, Batuma, who wasn't far from Connor, was stumbling and swaying in ti with his movents. Just as she'd regain her footing, she would be forced to move uncontrollably again, revealing nurous openings.
If not for the wide range of Batuma's Nine-Headed Serpent Whip, la would have already closed the distance and assassinated her.
la, too, seed to be on edge.
la was not afraid of Batuma, but of Connor Hai Chao.
Even a master assassin of the Nightshadows was unwilling to enter Connor's attack range.
Fang Zhen quickly grasped the tactical situation.
He could vaguely feel that the flow of energy in the space ahead was abnormal.
Given the situation, he didn't rush in greedily. Instead, he drew his Desert Viper and decided to clear out the minions first.
Connor still had two subordinates. Seeing Fang Zhen charge over, they gave up on besieging Batuma and rushed toward him.
But these two subordinates obviously did not have Connor's Crystal Bone Techniques.
Fang Zhen raised his gun and fired four shots—two for each of them.
The Desert Viper might not be the best for killing bosses, but it was incredibly effective against minions like these—ones with so offensive capability but no ultimate attacks or powerful defenses.
It took two shots each: one to the torso to stagger them, followed by one to the forehead to finish the job.
In a single exchange, both of Connor's subordinates were on the ground, their souls sent to the Netherworld.
Connor Hai Chao let out a low, furious roar.
However, Connor made no other move, continuing to perform the set of palm techniques that resembled Tai Chi push hands.
Fang Zhen didn't charge in either.
He fired three bullets at Connor Hai Chao, aiming straight for his face.
However, as the high-speed bullets ca within seven or eight ters of Connor, their velocity suddenly began to decrease.
It felt like firing a gun into the ocean.
A bullet shot into water from above slows dramatically, its path marked by a trail of bubbles. That was precisely what Fang Zhen felt now.
As the bullets entered a certain radius around Connor, they decelerated rapidly, slowing to a speed visible to the naked eye—slow enough to react to.
