Chapter 48: Go On, Just Keep Pampering Her

“Ah…?”

Vivian froze for a mont, her language system temporarily crashing, though the underlying code was still running.

She snorted arrogantly and deliberately puffed out her nearly unimpressive chest. “Ahem… My taste exists on a level you people cannot comprehend. If you think it looks good… that is only to be expected!”

After saying that, she could not help curling her lips upward. Her goal had already been achieved—her careful selection had not been in vain.

Ordinary complints were worthless to her; she had heard enough of them. But coming from Eve, it sohow felt different. In simple terms, it pleased Vivian imnsely.

Eve blinked and silently watched the smug look on the girl’s face, reflecting that this little girl changed expressions quickly—furious one second, then satisfied like a young child receiving praise the next.

The earlier matter of refusing to co over was quickly forgotten, but Vivian suddenly realized sothing again. “No… no, no, that’s not right.”

“What is the matter, Young Miss?”

“Almost let you lead

astray.” Vivian lowered her brows and scolded irritably, “You completely lack self-awareness!”

Eve tilted her head in confusion. “What do you an?”

“Get this straight—you are my Personal Maid.” Vivian raised her hand and pointed at her, enunciating every word slowly. “You were gone all morning, fine. But after coming back, you did not co to find

imdiately, and instead had the leisure to play around with other servants, correct?”

“What? Are they more important than I am? Perhaps I should capture her and take a good look.”

Eve explained unhurriedly, “Young Miss has no need to vent anger upon others. Moreover… I also have private space.”

“Are you teaching

how to do things?” Vivian raised a brow.

Eve did not reply at once. She simply faced the useless authority before her expressionlessly. Often silence was the best affirmation, leaving Vivian with nowhere to vent her anger.

Neither yielded. Though Eve’s stance was not obvious, it was clear enough for Vivian to understand—it was as if she were saying, [I did it. What can you do?]

And unfortunately, she truly could do nothing. Eve was different from the others, not a submissive servant nor a lucky one dependent on charity to remain.

Did this make Vivian angrier? On the contrary, she instead let out a cold laugh.

“What exactly gives you such confidence to keep challenging my limits? Sotis I have to admit, Eve, you are quite sothing. You truly dare.”

Back then, she had intended to kill her outright. But she was far too special. Without her, would another like her ever appear…?

That inexplicable stirring in her heart also seed to stop her.

At tis she wanted to tear the person before her into pieces, yet whenever her anger reached its peak, she would suddenly calm down.

A completely new sensation—she could not understand it.

Even at this point, Eve added fuel to the fire. “Your capacity for imagination is also quite rich.”

“Heh… good, good, very good.” Vivian nodded repeatedly, impossible to tell whether she was pleased or resigned. “Let this be the last ti. Are you satisfied now? Hmm?”

Without waiting for a response, she turned her face away with a huff, as if sulking, silently complaining in her heart.

This person is absolutely infuriating!

Her posture clearly said, [I am angry, you had better coax ], yet her ears twitched uncontrollably. Still, Vivian forced herself to remain cold and refused to turn back.

After a few seconds, Eve’s voice sounded beside her, very close.

“Young Miss.”

“What now?” Vivian replied irritably, though the corner of her eye could not help glancing over.

Eve slowly opened the paper bag. A fragrance mixed with cream and fresh strawberries drifted into Vivian’s nose.

“You said earlier that I did not think of you. Allow

to clarify—on the way back, I passed by and bought this,” Eve displayed the opened bag calmly. “I rembered you seed to like it when you tasted it last ti, so I brought another portion.”

Vivian heard this and still kept her neck stiffly forward, yet the motion of swallowing exposed her true reaction.

She remained stubborn. “Who asked you to ddle? Do not think this will make

forgive you.”

“I am not seeking forgiveness.”

Vivian turned her head, eyes widening.

eting her gaze, Eve moved the dessert bag closer and said calmly,

“I only wish to clear up the misunderstanding that I did not think of you. From the mont I left, I was thinking of you—thinking that you liked this, thinking of you the entire ti.”

The air suddenly fell silent.

Vivian stared at the bag, then at Eve’s emotionless crimson eyes. For a mont she did not know what to say, her heart tangled and struggling.

She hated Eve—hated how she always provoked her first with that damned calmness and refusal to yield.

It made her raise her emotions high like a joke, only to have nowhere to release them, leaving her embarrassed and annoyed.

Yet in the end, Eve would soften the thorn that pricked her.

“You… tch.” Vivian bit her lip. In the end she only reached out viciously and snatched the paper bag.

“Let this be the last ti,” she repeated softly, though it sounded more awkward than before.

Eve stood quietly beside her, watching her lightly trembling eyelashes as she pretended to inspect the contents fiercely, lips pursed while muttering,

“I am saying this first—it has nothing to do with you. I just do not want to take it out on dessert.”

“As you say, Young Miss.”

“Hmph.” Under Eve’s questioning gaze, Vivian handed the bag back to her. “Hold it. Bring it to

later after it is handled properly.”

So that was it. She had thought she did not want to eat it. If she truly did not want it, Eve would have turned around and fed it to the green-haired little girl without hesitation.

After releasing the bag, Vivian suddenly asked, “What did that old man want from you this morning?”

After a pause, afraid Eve might hide it, she added, “I do not care whether you were sent by that old man to watch

or whatever, but you are my Personal Maid. Reporting is what you should do.”

Eve had intended to tell everything anyway. “Replying to Young Miss: the Family Head was concerned about you. I rely ntioned your pressure. After hearing it, he relaxed the restrictions sowhat. At least entering and leaving will be much easier in the future.”

“Concerned about ? Heh. Since when did that old man start acting human?” Vivian scoffed, as though hearing the funniest joke in the world.

She seized upon the latter point.

“Relaxed restrictions… as if I would believe that. And also, you are not allowed to ntion

to him again, or else…” Vivian deliberately drew out her tone and looked at Eve threateningly.

“Or else what?”
