Chapter 213: Chapter 9: Puppet Mage_2

Watching the two angry Thunderhorse Knights leave, Kor shook his head and chuckled bitterly. He didn’t want to antagonize the Church of Light, but he couldn’t yield to their pressure. If he gave in to their demands this ti, they would only be more overbearing next ti. In truth, they had gained nothing of value in his territory. They rely wanted to exploit this opportunity to gain greater authority, which would allow them to freely scrutinize and search areas they deed suspicious. Naturally, Kor could not agree to their demands. However, it was true that the mbers of the Great Mysterium Sect had been active in the Caucasus quite frequently of late, and this was no good sign either. To nip potential problems in the bud, indeed, so matters needed to be addressed from the very beginning.

Facing the Slender Mage and uttering the spell, Kor cautiously raised a shield of Light Magic. It was an exemplar of the “Holy Starshine,” a standard protection spell of the Light series. The pale blue starlight sprinkled dots on the floating silvery-white aura around his body, twinkling brightly. Kor could sense Mihailovich’s astonishnt from his shocked gaze. Pure Light Magic like this wasn’t an especially high-level spell, but for a mage with dark attributes, casting a spell requiring such a high degree of purity in Light Magic power would be as difficult as ascending to the heavens. No wonder the Slender Mage’s face was filled with such surprise when Kor unveiled this move to kick off their duel.

Although it was rely a sparring match, Kor knew these Mages never held back in these confrontations. Of course, they wouldn’t go as far as to kill him. However, a humiliating defeat was hard to avoid if one lost. Kor didn’t want to lose too disgracefully in this duel that could tarnish his image.

Mihailovich’s face showed a cautious expression. It seed that Lord was indeed a hidden expert, as Rebry had said. Without Rebry’s prior warning, he would never have believed that his opponent could be a Necromancer with considerable Dark Magic Power.

Moving his fingers across his forehead, a chilling aura suddenly materialized in the air, and two skeleton warriors appeared out of nowhere. Towering at two ters, the phantom-like skeletons carried dark grey scythes. Their bare, smooth skulls and dark, empty eye sockets seed to swallow all light. The neatly arranged ribs exhibited an aesthetically pleasing grey-white color. Their thick shinbones slightly parted, standing before Mihailovich, they seed so obedient and docile.

Kor couldn’t help but admire the Slender Mage’s effortless conjuring of two Skeleton Giant Demons. He was still uncertain whether the skeleton warriors standing before his opponent were re illusions or real Undead Warriors. To deal with these two outwardly similar but intrinsically different magic creations required distinctive strategies. He had no choice but to take the initiative and launch a probing attack to determine the true nature of the two skeletons now blocking Mihailovich.

The Magic Wand elegantly traced patterns in his hand. As the spell chanting accelerated, a massive Light Ball released a powerful burst of radiant energy with a volley, exploding in front of the two skeletons that had just managed to comnce their offensive. The Holy Light suddenly beca several tis brighter, nearly blinding. Countless specks of light whizzed through the air to et the two skeleton warriors lunging toward him. The giant on the left instantly turned into a re shadow, then slowly faded away, while the one on the right let out a deep roar and allowed the fragnted light to strike its body. Wisps of smoke rose from the skeleton, and even the bone structure creaked. Yet, in the end, the skeleton prevailed. The scythe in its hand brought a fierce wind, slashing at Kor’s upper, middle, and lower positions in rapid succession.

Indeed, they were two different entities. When struck by his “Heaven Light Crossing Demon,” the illusory skeleton couldn’t withstand and vanished. Any magical illusions faced with this all-encompassing Holy Light were destined to disappear into dust. As for the skeleton now advancing on him, it was naturally a product of Mihailovich’s specialty in Necromancy. A Necromancer of a certain level would prepare so decoys for such a skeleton warrior, which would distract the target and absorb so of the attack’s force, combining to form a joint attack with the physical skeleton for a lethal outco. However, even the Slender Mage had not expected Kor to strike with lethal intent from the beginning, eliminating the illusory skeleton without giving him a chance. Now, they could only observe the real skeleton warrior’s performance.

Dodging the sweeping scythe with agile movents, Kor flicked his fingers, and successive Spheres of Light Spell materialized in his hand. “Pop, pop, pop, pop” the orbs flowed from his palms, a series of shots rang out from his fingertips, confronting the scythe’s countless arcs in the air. The dull blasts continued, yet they couldn’t stop the shadow of the pursuing skeleton.

Kor’s gaze shifted as he dodged the scythe that swept over his head with the stench of death. With a swift grab and heave of his left hand, a massive Mud Giant Demon roared into existence, blocking the skeleton warrior’s path. This was also Kor’s way of testing his progress in Elental Magic. Especially now that he had to face the Priests and Thunderhorse Knights of the Church of Light, who were aware of his proficiency in magic, Kor had to refine his outward guise to hide his dark foundation more diligently. Aside from using as much Light Series Mana as possible to cleanse himself, he had no choice but to strengthen his cultivation of Elental Magic to deceive others.
