After reading the ssage, Du Beiye quickly inford Zhang Yuan. Soon after, they also returned to the base.

Fifteen minutes after they left the western border area, a group of ability-users arrived. They checked the area for half an hour before one of them pressed his watch and said, "Captain, they have left."

"Since they have escaped, then let them be. Soon, they will end up in our stomachs. All of you, return first."

"Understood."

After the brief conversation, the group left the area and disappeared suddenly.

At the sa ti, in Gongzhou City, Pei Yijun underwent a full-body checkup in the Mountain Base’s health center.

After two hours, the results were out, and Ye Wuchen said, "Your recovery is good. You can be discharged from the hospital, but you can’t do any strenuous exercise yet. Also, don’t use your ability for the next two weeks."

"I understand. Thank you, Brother Ye," Pei Yijun nodded.

After so reminders, Ye Wuchen left and went to attend to another patient. As for Pei Yijun, he returned to his office.

Without the chip controlling his mind, he felt as if he were reborn. He no longer heard the constant voice telling him what to do. No more continuous irritation and agitation. He felt relaxed and at ease.

With his mind cleared, he picked up his satellite phone and made a call. The call rang for a while before it was picked up.

"Hello."

"Captain Jin, it’s , Pei Yijun."

"Commander Pei, why did you suddenly contact ?" Jin Xuyan asked.

"You know about my base?" Pei Yijun asked in surprise.

"Xun Che told ."

Hearing this, he nodded and said, "I want to make a deal with you."

"Speak."

"I know you want to destroy the facility. I can help you. We can work together."

After a mont of silence, Jin Xuyan said, "Pei Yijun, my goal is never the facility but the organization behind it. Their power is far from what you can imagine. You might even die before you bring them down. Are you sure you still want to join ?"

"With your current strength, your team can’t do it alone. I have made up my mind. My base will join hands with you."

Jin Xuyan thought for a mont before he asked, "What’s your condition?"

"I want Pei Gan’s life."

Raising his eyebrows, Jin Xuyan said, "You want to spare his life?"

"No. I want to kill him with my own hands," Pei Yijun said calmly.

All of his and Pei Yixie’s suffering over the years was caused by his so-called uncle. He knew that Jin Xuyan would kill his father, so he wouldn’t interfere in his life. But Pei Gan’s life was his to take.

Hearing this, Jin Xuyan chuckled and said, "As you wish."

Reaching an agreent, they hung up the call. Although Pei Yijun had more kindness compared to his father, the Pei family’s blood still ran in his veins. He was cold-blooded and ruthless deep down.

After the phone call, he started reading the reports that had been piling up on his desk.

At the sa ti, Li Yang stood at the edge of a mountain cliff and threw a mutant cat down. He watched as a mutant bird swept down from the sky, swallowed the mutant cat, and flew away.

Seeing this, the corner of his lips lifted. Although it was not as they planned, it was still good. If the mutant bird continued moving, Pei Xun would think that it was Pei Yijun and wouldn’t be suspicious of his disappearance.

Since he had finished his task, Li Yang boarded the helicopter and flew back to the Mountain Base. From above, he could see groups of people clearing the snow and killing the zombies below.

He stared into the distance and thought that with Jin Xuyan and his team staying here, the Green Lake Base would definitely survive the winter.

As the snow continued to fall, another month passed.

In the past month, the Lunar Base’s survivors were living in constant fear, as they not only had to continue clearing the piled-up snow and killing the zombies, but also had to guard against the lurking danger.

Since the Phantom Team discovered the underground structure and the disappearance of the high-level mutants, the Lunar Base had been on high alert.

Only the guards and ability-users were allowed to leave the base to do missions, while the rest of the survivors had to stay inside their houses.

But after a month of being on guard, there was no movent, and everything was peaceful. The calm and peaceful situation lowered everyone’s guard without them realizing it.

It was not until a month after the discovery that everyone realized that the peaceful ti was none other than an illusion.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

In the darkness of the night, sounds of explosions echoed in the area outside the Lunar Base’s third base.

"It’s the enemy’s attack!"

"Quick! Ring the alarm and inform the Commander!"

The guards shouted in panic while the attacks hit the wall one after another.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Countless fireballs, lightning bolts, and tal spears hit the wall, shaking the ground.

While everyone was still panicking, a group of people suddenly appeared. Standing on top of the wall, Feng Yun raised his hand and created a spatial barrier.

BOOM! BOOM!

The attacks hit the barrier and exploded upon contact. At the sa ti, Di Hansheng raised his hand and circulated his energy.

CRACK! BOOM!

The next mont, an area with a 100-ter radius, located 200 ters away from them, suddenly sank. The snowy ground cracked, and a huge pit appeared instantly.

When they saw this, everyone thought that the danger had been solved as the ability-users were killed by the attack. Unexpectedly, from the crimson ground stained with blood, large groups of mutant animals rushed out.

"S-so many mutants!" one of the guards exclaid in fear.

"We are dood!" another guard cried in horror.

"ROAR!"

The roars of the mutant animals echoed in the area as they rushed toward the wall like tidal waves.
