CH.465 Elias and Nevelle’s Duel Disks
Now. Let’s get onto sothing I enjoy quite a lot.
Duel disk designs. For Elias and Nevelle.
Nevelle is still on HoBase, so I can just show her the 3D design with a design table or ntal Visual Designing before I manufacture it.
But for Elias, I’ll have to print out a picture, send that picture to Elias with a letter exchange box, and wait for his response.
But let’s cover Elias’ duel disk first, as it was actually the easier of the two to make. Not because it is simple, it really isn’t, but because I didn’t have to invent new technology to make it.
Elias’ duel disk had a main body that was shining gold, kind of like Victory Dragon’s scales. From it extended out the five monster card zones, each looking like one of the heads of the Five-Headed Dragon.
In terms of visual design, I think the duel disk would be great for soone who actually uses the Five-Headed Dragon, but I’m not about to give one to Elias. I still like it, I just don’t think it is a perfect fit.
But the reason Elias loved it is because of the additional features. Because those five dragon heads aren’t there just for show. Each can blast out powerful elental magic, sa as the attribute of the dragon head.
So with all five heads, Elias can let loose flas, water, wind, earth and darkness. They are fueled by the wielder's mana, but you could also use a magic stone, including a magic transferring stone, to fuel the duel disk. No, I will not be giving one of them to Elias. He can get his own magic stones.
At full power, the ‘dragon breaths’ the heads let out can be quite powerful, equal to a mid tier spell like Fire Blast casted by soone with a Magic stat of 900. And I know that might not sound all that impressive, but that kind of power can one shot anything below C-rank for sure, and even most C-rank monsters would fall to a single hit. So that resist the attribute will survive, but not all that many.
And that is just one head letting out one blast. The duel disk does have five maws for a reason.
So yeah. That is Elias’ duel disk. Now let’s get onto the nightmare that is Nevelle’s duel disk.
On paper, her duel disk isn’t even all that impressive. It looked like a standard issue GX academy duel disk, except that it had a red edge, similar to Nevelle’s twin short swords.

In terms of features, it was actually very close to Wilma’s duel disk, being able to project magic barriers. So again, nothing special.
… but, and this is a big but, it had to be able to split with her when she used her unique skill.
Yeah. Coming up with a way to make that work wasn’t fun. Because you probably don’t know this, but Nel and Vele don’t share their clothes when they split. One of them ends up naked, or they can split the clothing they are wearing between the two of them.
But Nevelle wanted to make sure both of them would have access to a duel disk, or at least a summoning bracer, even when they are split. They have two cards, so each can hold one.
Naturally the easy answer to this was just make two duel disks. But you know , I’m not going to turn down the challenge if I have ti to actually look into it.
Besides, it is fully possible that when Nevelle gets better with her unique skill, that she will be able to make more than two of herself. Actually, she can already make four, she just never really does outside of training. Splitting her stats and skills that much just isn’t worth it.
So yeah. Making a duel disk that was able to split with Nevelle took a while, but I eventually managed it. It isn’t perfect, as the split duel disks do split the available monster card zones, as well as the spell and trap zones between each other, but they do work.
One duel disk will, after a split, will have two monster card zones and two spell/trap zones, plus the field spell zone. The other will have three monster card zones and three spell/trap zones, with no field spell zone.
Nevelle tested out her duel disk, and was happy with it, so I guess all that is left is to deliver Elias’ disk.
The delivery took place just a few days later. Sadly I couldn’t just ‘drop by’ when eting Elias, because of security, but I was still always fast tracked to have a eting with him if I asked for one.
Today’s eting was inside the walls of the castle, so I had to go through security, but it was mostly fast tracked. I think they have just accepted the fact that if I want to kill Elias, they can’t stop .
After I showed Elias his duel disk, he wanted to head out to a training field to test it, so we did. We did have to wait just a bit because a group of Royal knights were practicing, but they soon enough cleared the field for us, though a few of them stayed to watch.
Among them was a man I wasn’t the happiest with, as our last eting was … let's just say he needs to choose his words better. That was the now ex-captain of the Royal knights, Marquess Gallos. He was still a Royal knight, mainly because he is actually quite powerful, but his command position had been stripped from him.
Along with him was the new captain, a nice female knight who was also the daughter of an Earl. She seed quite a bit more accepting of things than the previous man, as she asked about the fights against the ‘miasma blobs’ and the SS-rank monsters that appear from them.
Then there was the third person, whom I didn’t expect to et today.
“Your Highness, Prince Legio. It is a pleasure.” I greeted the first Prince.
“Aren’t you on a first na basis with my brother? Couldn’t we do the sa?” Legio requested.
“If that is what you want.” I agreed, changing my tone from my formal one to the casual tone I usually use.
“Yes. I’d appreciate that.” Legio said.
“Thanks.” I then focused my eyes on the weapon Legio was carrying. It may look like a standard cane, but I knew better. After all, I designed it and helped Wilma make it. “How has the sword cane been serving you?” I asked, wanting so honest feedback on the weapon. Factory testing isn’t the sa as real world testing after all.
“It is wonderful. Thank you for making it.” Legio said. “Though it does have a minor problem. Our craftsn don’t know how to really service it because of the unique enchantnts.”
“... yeah. You can’t just use regular magic on it because of Magic Drain.” I realized one of the problems.
Magic Drain had been one of the two installs into the weapon. It was in the sword part of the sword cane, and it would absorb so mana from anyone it cuts. It can also absorb so spells, but not powerful ones. But most repair/restoration spells aren’t that powerful, so the blade will just eat them.

We then mix in so treant sap, which I just drain from the treants on the forest floors of HoBase. [Floors 35 to 41] Then it is enriched with mana, and we have our treant wood treatnt oil. Technology and OP monsters for the win. But the crushed monster cores are much easier.
“If you want, I can have a barrel of the oil I used delivered by my rchant.”
“That would be much appreciated. … how much will it be?” Legio asked.
“... You’ll have to ask Lawrence, but I can promise you a discount on the first barrel.”
“That won’t be necessary. I simple wish to know which route will be more expensive in the long run.”
For so reason, I have a feeling it will be . I an, making that stuff costs basically nothing for . Sure it takes about an hour getting all the raw materials, if I harvest them instead of using the HoBase core, but other than that. The amount of mana it takes to enrich the oil is basically negligible.
“I have sothing else you might be interested in.” Legio said. “A few of your ‘cards’ have been put up for an upcoming auction. But they weren’t put up for sale by you, were they?”
“No.” I confird. “... have you seen the cards?” I quickly asked. “Or has anyone else seen them?”
“I checked them over, Sir.” Marquess Gallos said.
“Could you read them?” I asked.
“... what?”
“It is a yes or no question. Could you read them?”
“Yes, I was able to read them.” He answered.
“Then there is no issue. They are fake.”
“Fake?” Legio asked.
“Well kind of. You know that I just hosted a tournant where my cards were used to play a strategic ga. For it, I made so fake cards. They can’t be used to summon anything like the real things. While I did ask everyone to return the cards to after the tournant, I did notice a handful of them went missing. Most of the missing cards were those that depicted powerful monsters, like the Blue-Eyes White Dragon and the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon.”
“Do you wish for us to recover them?” Legio asked. “Also, how do you know they are fake?”
“I don’t really care about the recovery. They are just printed cardboard. And if the nobles that stole them try to sell them as legitimate summoning tools, they will lose a ton of reputation.
Also, as to how I know they are fake, well.” I brought out two Blue-Eyes White Dragon cards. One was a real Pack Opener card while the other was a card I printed for the tournant. “Check these out.” I said, as I handed both to Legio.
The Blue-Eyes is sleeved and in a toploader, so no chance of Legio accidentally summoning it.
“... I see. I can read the fake card but not the real one.” Legio noticed.
“Yeah. Also, all the fakes have that little disclair written at the bottom.” I pointed at the bottom of the card, where the copyright text usually is.
In its place, I had written ‘This is not a summoning card. For dueling use only.’ It was honestly one of those ‘just in case’ things I added. I didn’t want to be blad for spearing fake cards. And besides, all of my custom cards have that [Cannot be used in a duel] effect, so it just made think that maybe I should add sothing like that to the fake cards.
“So you don’t want us to recover them. What about punishing the nobles that put them up for sale?” Legio asked.
“... Not a bad idea. They did technically steal the cards. … how about just confiscating the entirety of the sale price of the cards? That way they will get nothing out of it. Can you do that?”
“Yes, we can do that.” Legio agreed. “We can either deposit the money with the adventurer’s guild, or would you prefer to have your rchant pick it up?”
“Nah. Just … donate it to an orphanage or sothing. I have my source of money secured, so I think this can be used for sothing different.”
“... you really are different, aren’t you?”
“Hopefully good kind of different.”
We then went back to watching Elias test out his new duel disk. He didn’t actually summon Victory Dragon, but he did test out all of the heads of the duel disk. He didn’t have enough mana to power it all, so I let him borrow a mana bracelet that lets him pull mana from HoBase to refill his own mana pool.
We even tested if Legio’s sword canes Magic Cylinder feature could redirect the attacks, which it naturally could. But it was still nice to confirm.
