May Morgan stared at lanie’s face, studying it carefully for a while. She felt that this ti lanie shouldn’t be playing any tricks. Only then did she aim the ring at Vincent Vance’s nose and press it.

As she pressed the ring, Vincent imdiately seed to wake up from a deep sleep, suddenly moving his head. He then exhaled a long breath and slowly opened his eyes.

"May, why are you here?" Vincent asked in surprise, seeing May in front of him as soon as he opened his eyes.

Seeing Vincent finally awake, May let out a breath and quickly helped him up from the sofa, asking softly, "Vincent, are you okay? How do you feel now?"

Vincent’s head still hurt a bit, but he was otherwise okay. While rubbing his throbbing temples, he sat up from May’s embrace: "I’m fine, just have a bit of a headache."

Seeing Vincent awake, lanie anxiously asked May: "Now that Vincent is awake, will you let go?"

Hearing lanie’s voice, Vincent suddenly turned his head to look behind, only to see a woman with a face full of blood struggling helplessly under restraint.

He frowned and carefully identified her before realizing that this ghost-like woman was lanie: "You bitch, how dare you harm ?"

As Vincent spoke, he tried to stand up from the sofa, but due to his condition, he imdiately fell back onto the sofa weakly before he could stand properly.

"Vincent, are you alright?" Seeing Vincent so weak, May asked him worriedly again.

Vincent was just a bit uncomfortable due to the effects of the drug, but he didn’t think it was a big issue. He waved his hand to May, indicating she shouldn’t worry: "I’m fine, just a bit dizzy."

"lanie, what exactly did you use on Vincent?" Worried about possible aftereffects, May imdiately demanded of lanie sternly.

lanie hesitantly responded to her: "I, I don’t really know. These things were given to by that old woman, and the ring in your hand was also from her. I, I, that’s all I know..."

"Let’s take you to the hospital for a checkup, okay?" For peace of mind, May imdiately suggested to Vincent.

Now, with lanie’s face cut up like that, she definitely needed to go to the hospital as well, so May wanted to take Vincent along too for a check-up.

Vincent hesitated for a mont, then nodded, not insisting: "Alright."

Victor Grant, watching the two of them being affectionate on the side, feeling quite displeased, coughed lightly and planned to leave: "Well, I see you two are fine now, I’ll take my n and leave first?"

"No, I still have a favor to ask!" Seeing Victor about to leave, May quickly called out to him: "The wounds on this woman’s face need a hospital’s attention too, can you help?"

Victor rolled his eyes and protested to her exasperatedly: "So, am I just your handyman? Why don’t you co to for the good stuff? For dirty and tiring work, you always find ? Doesn’t your man have people under him?"

Feeling quite embarrassed, May apologized to Victor: "I’m sorry, Vincent also needs to go to the hospital, and he only brought two people over, what can I do? Am I supposed to send Vincent to the hospital and keep an eye on this woman too?"

Hearing that she’d still be supervised, lanie quickly and angrily protested: "May, you promised that once Vincent woke up, you’d let go. Are you going back on your word?"

May lifted her head with a sneer, deliberately reminding lanie: "I said I’d let you go once I saw Vincent was okay. But now, Vincent’s condition hasn’t fully recovered. If I let you go, what if your poison leaves so aftereffects in his body? Who would I turn to then?"

"You, you’re so despicable, Vincent is already awake, there really won’t be a bigger problem, you just don’t want to release !"

"So what if I am? You’ve committed all sorts of cris; even if I let you go, would the police let you go? Would the law let you go? lanie, give it up. By not handing you over to the police imdiately and instead taking you for treatnt, I’ve already been exceedingly kind to you."

lanie, covering her severely disfigured face, tearfully said with unwillingness: "You’ve disfigured , what use is there in hypocritically taking to the hospital? You’re a bitch, you deserve to die!"

"Slap!" Before lanie’s curse could finish, May decisively slapped her, knocking lanie’s face to one side.

"I’m a bitch? Then what are you? When you held a knife against , didn’t you think about what you were doing? There’s a cause and effect in everything; I’m rely returning the favor. There’s nothing to complain about, you brought all this on yourself. It’s your own fault!"

By now, Vincent had regained so strength. He got up from the sofa and moved to stand beside May, protectively shielding her.

He looked coldly at lanie, his voice cutting like ice: "lanie, rember this, May is the woman I will protect with my life. If you dare to touch her again, I’ll make sure you vanish without a trace."

lanie was now the defeated party, without the qualifications to speak or resist. Despite how hurtful Vincent’s words were, she could only grit her teeth and force herself to nod in admission.

"I’m sorry, it’s my fault. I will nd my ways and never harm May again. I’m giving up."

"You better give up, or else I’ll let you know just how stupid you are!"

Vincent wrapped his arm around May’s waist, turned to Victor, and politely thanked him: "Mr. Grant, thank you for helping my wife and today. Na your price for the labor, and I’ll have my secretary bring a check to you later!"

Vincent intentionally used the term "wife" with Victor, wanting to make it clear to him who May’s lawful husband was and to stay away when there’s nothing going on.

Victor couldn’t miss the hint. He had initially helped for May’s sake, not intending to ask for paynt. But now, thinking it might be in May’s best interest, he felt it necessary to ask for money.

"The usual, ten million a day. Just have soone deliver the signed check to tomorrow."

Victor smiled lightly and cheerfully said to Vincent.

Vincent, hearing this, smiled with satisfaction: "Alright, I’ll have my secretary hand over the money you’re owed tomorrow. Thanks for your help today!"

Victor gave May a aningful glance, his lips curling into a complex smile: "It’s nothing. Not earning money would be foolish. Your wife did everything she could to save you, and since I get paid, why not?"

"Then, I’ll take the liberty of sending this woman to the hospital for treatnt, and you can let know how to handle the rest by tomorrow." As Victor turned to leave, he signaled his n to grab lanie and drag her away.
