The dense black mass was the terrifying Poisonous Insects. After crawling out of the dog’s belly, they started gnawing on its corpse. In less than a minute, the Insects had devoured the living dog completely, leaving only a white skeleton glowing eerily under the moonlight.

The people inside the house were pale with fear at the scene, a few of Vincent Vance’s subordinates, being faint-hearted, couldn’t help but vomit.

After consuming the dog, the Poisonous Insects began crawling towards the house in a systematic manner. Witnessing the situation, everyone hastily retreated indoors. But the house wasn’t utterly sealed, and the Insects were tiny and nurous. If no attempt was made to break out, they’d end up as the Insects’ al too—just like that dog.

"Young Master Vance, what should we do?" a few policen, seeing the situation, imdiately cocked their guns and stood on guard at the door.

But even with guns in their hands, how many could they shoot with just a few bullets? Looking at that dense mass, even if they used fire, it might not kill many of them?

Vincent Vance was also witnessing such a bizarre scene for the first ti. Though he felt at a loss, at this point, their only option was to fight to the death.

"Try using fire, see if it works?" He thought, the Insects are insects, they should fear fire, right?

Upon hearing this, his subordinates quickly pulled out lighters, lit a piece of clothing, and threw it out. But when the flaming garnt was thrown into the mass of Insects, it had no effect. The Insects didn’t even bother to avoid it, marching straight through the fire, continuing their advance towards the house.

"Oh no, this won’t work, these are Poisonous Insects! You need Fragrant Bone Wood powder! They fear neither fire nor water!" A woman inside the house exclaid in horror.

Fragrant Bone Wood? Vincent turned his head to her, puzzled, and quickly asked, "Do you have such a thing at your ho?"

The woman replied sheepishly, "Fragrant Bone Wood cos from Mount Caelus, how could I have any? It’s a priceless treasure."

"I have. I have so!" The woman’s husband couldn’t help but shout loudly.

After speaking, he turned and went into the inner room, and from the bottom of a box, took out an old little box.

When the box was brought in front of Vincent and the others, he quickly opened it and explained to everyone, "The last ti I accidentally ventured into Mount Caelus, I secretly picked a piece and hid it on myself, thinking I could sell it for so money. Now it seems using it to save our lives is more pressing."

After speaking, he took out a small piece of dry wood and handed it to Vincent, "This is it. When Fragrant Bone Wood is on the tree, it’s a lush green, but once plucked, it instantly withers."

Vincent took the Fragrant Bone Wood that looked no different from ordinary wood, sniffed it, and noticed it had a strange fragrance, faintly recalling sothing familiar about it.

He sniffed it lightly, and his eyes suddenly brightened as he recalled the amulet in his pocket.

Indeed, the scent of this Fragrant Bone Wood was the sa as the amulet Mason Morgan carried.

"How do we use this?" Vincent asked the household, holding the Fragrant Bone Wood.

"I’m not sure, maybe, maybe place it at the doorway to try? I’ve heard the fragrance can repel Poisonous Insects, but I’m not certain."

"Alright, I’ll try!" With determination, Vincent took the Fragrant Bone Wood to the door and flung open the tightly closed door.

These Poisonous Insects were most likely after him, so the danger, he must bear for everyone.

The Poisonous Insects were already at the doorstep, just about to crawl inside. Vincent opened the door, and the aroma of the Fragrant Bone Wood imdiately dispersed, the Insects, upon slling it, recoiled three ters back in fright.

However, these Insects were relentless, and though intimidated by the fragrance, did not dare co too close. They remained, forming a circle around the door within that three-ter radius.

At this sight, Vincent frowned. Though usually calculated and resourceful, even he was at a loss at this mont.

If the Insects didn’t leave, they’d remain trapped here; but if they left, how would they do it?

Even with the Fragrant Bone Wood, capable of temporarily keeping the Insects at bay, who knew if there were greater dangers awaiting beyond the courtyard?

...

Not long after hanging up from Vincent’s call, May Morgan heard a servant knocking at the door, "Madam, there’s a man outside with the last na Grant wanting to see you."

Last na Grant? May was montarily confused, not rembering anyone by that na.

Suddenly, she recalled Vincent’s warning and lay lazily in bed continuing her book, unmoved, "Tell him I’m asleep, no visitors."

Right now, that was of utmost importance, regardless of whether it was soone nad Grant or Liu, she would see no one.

Wait, last na Grant? Could it be Victor Grant?

May suddenly thought of the night Victor drove to assist them, feeling a bit moved. But then she recalled he wasn’t reliable, since last ti he tried to have her kidnapped and even attempted to assault her.

Moreover, why co over this late? Couldn’t it wait till dayti? Was it to take advantage of her husband’s absence to do sothing?

Forget it, safety first, whoever it is, she wouldn’t see them.

Thinking this, May withdrew her extended leg and continued reading. But the servant returned knocking barely two minutes later, "Madam, please open the door."

Noticing sothing off with the servant’s voice, May sat up cautiously, instinctively reaching for the miniature pistol beneath her pillow.

"Didn’t I say I was asleep? No disturbances allowed. Didn’t you understand?"

Not daring to open the door, May glared towards the entrance with vigilance, her voice sharp.

"Madam, Mr. Grant insists on seeing you today, otherwise he won’t leave," the servant called cautiously at the door.

May snorted disdainfully, deliberately saying, "Then let him wait outside, I’m not well and don’t want visitors."

Seems the jerk was up to no good today, otherwise, why be so persistent?

Thinking this, May discreetly took the gun from under her pillow, placing it in her pocket.

The gun in her defense indeed provided a sense of security. Though she didn’t want to kill, nor be killed, in critical monts, she wouldn’t hesitate to pull the trigger.

Just as May finished speaking, the tightly closed bedroom door was suddenly kicked open. Victor Grant arrogantly burst in from outside.
