Chapter 27: Three Illusions of n, She Likes

At the gate of Qingbei University, Jiang Zhou strolled leisurely across the road.

The location for the store was settled.

Next up was designing the mobile web page and logo.

Then, he needed to negotiate with vendors and advertise around the campus.

The goal was to get both students and businesses used to this new ordering thod.

Jiang Zhou figured this stage wouldn’t take long. After all, food was a basic necessity. Once a simpler way to order food appears, who’d still bother calling?

Later, he’d recruit students looking for part-ti work to act as delivery runners, paying them based on how many orders they completed.

As he was lost in thought, he had already arrived at the university gate.

At this mont, Chu Yuwei was already waiting there.

She stood under a dim lamppost, her long dress fluttering in the evening breeze.

She was like a fairy in a dream.

But Jiang Zhou also noticed the crowd of boys behind her.

“You’re here?” Jiang Zhou glanced at the group behind her. “Are we having dinner or starting a street brawl?”

Chu Yuwei tilted her face up. “No, no, they all insisted on taking to dinner, but I didn’t go.”

“You should’ve told soone else invited you. Dang, I ca all this way for nothing!” Jiang Zhou pretended to be disappointed and turned to leave.

Lately, for so unknown reason, he found himself enjoying teasing Chu Yuwei.

But this ti, she suddenly burst into tears. “Jiang Zhou, can you not treat like this…”

Jiang Zhou didn’t expect her to react so intensely. “What’s wrong? Who bullied you?”

Wuwuwu…

“Alright, alright, don’t cry. I’ll take you to get sothing delicious.”

“Really?”

“Why else would I co? I almost broke my leg crossing the road to get here!”

Chu Yuwei looked at him with teary eyes. “Thank you. Then next ti, I’ll co find you instead.”

Co to ?

No, absolutely not.

He still had Feng Siruo to flirt with. Love triangles like this? Way too ssy and best left to soone else!

Jiang Zhou quickly put on a grin. “Not tired at all. I’m in top form.”

Chu Yuwei nodded. “So, what should we eat?”

“Let’s go to the food street. Pick anything you like.”

“I know you’re rich, so don’t cry if the bill’s big.”

The two strolled down the street, getting ready to cross.

At this mont, Zheng Yu was watching them from behind.

He couldn’t believe Chu Yuwei was actually with Jiang Zhou.

But that wasn’t even the most painful part.

It was Jiang Zhou’s offhand complaint about how exhausting it was just to cross the road to et her, and Chu Yuwei’s soft response, saying he worked hard and next ti she’d go to him.

So what did that make him?

He had ridden the bus for half an hour, squeezed into the subway for another two, and traveled from South Third Ring all the way to North Third Ring.

He didn’t even stop for water to save ti.

Zheng Yu had never thought of himself as a simp. He always believed he and Chu Yuwei had mutual feelings.

But today, for the first ti, he saw reality clearly.

Was I really just a simp?

No!

Impossible!

There had to be so misunderstanding!

“Jiang Zhou, wait up!” Zheng Yu gritted his teeth and chased after them.

Only then did Jiang Zhou realize Zheng Yu had really shown up.

Damn, he crossed half the city.

Was he seriously this hardcore about chasing a girl?

Still, we are old classmates, so no point kicking him out after all this effort.

Jiang Zhou figured he might as well be a gracious host.

“When’d you get here? Want to join us for dinner?”

Zheng Yu glared at him. “Cut the act. Are you still pestering Yuwei? Are you forcing her?”

Chu Yuwei lifted her head. “Zheng Yu, stop making things up. I asked him to co.”

“You don’t have to be scared, Yuwei. I’ll protect you.”

“I really don’t like you. I ant it when I asked you not to co. What will it take for you to believe ?”

At this point, Chu Yuwei was beyond frustrated.

She’d finally managed to get Jiang Zhou to co out.

Why did this guy have to show up and ruin everything?

What on earth could she say to make him get it?

But just then, Jiang Zhou’s phone rang.

He glanced oddly at Zheng Yu, then pulled out his phone.

“Hello? This is Jiang Zhou, who’s calling?”

“Oh, from the School of Information Technology? I’ve got a website I want you to design.”

“Don’t worry about paynt. If you give a ten-thousand-quality site, I’ll pay you ten thousand.”

“Yeah, I’d like to see results within three days.”

“Topic of the site? I’ll send you the files later.”

After hanging up, Jiang Zhou looked at Zheng Yu. “Sorry, what were you saying?”

“I…” Zheng Yu suddenly hesitated.

He realized Jiang Zhou was completely different from the rest of them.

While he was always busy chasing girls, trying to create romantic monts and feeling good about his own “devotion,” Jiang Zhou was out here talking business, throwing around numbers like ten thousand, designing websites, drafting docunts.

It felt like ever since graduation, they were no longer in the sa league.

Maybe that’s why Chu Yuwei liked him.

And everything Zheng Yu had done just seed… ridiculous now.

Childish, even.

Zheng Yu fell silent for a long while. “It’s nothing…”

Jiang Zhou smiled. “Oh, I thought you wanted to fight . Guess it was a misunderstanding?”

“Yeah… a misunderstanding.”

“That’s good. No big deal between old classmates. I said the sa to Sha Yujie back then.”

At that na, Zheng Yu’s shoulders suddenly tensed.

He rembered sothing.

Sha Yujie was a punk from their class.

He was the one who offered Jiang Zhou a cigarette on graduation day.

That guy was usually wild and fearless.

But he didn’t dare cross Jiang Zhou too much.

Why? Because Jiang Zhou had once beat him so bad he missed three days of school.

That was Jiang Zhou’s one “glorious deed” in high school.

He was tall and strong, and when he fought, he went all out.

He was more brutal than even the punks.

High school fights weren’t like kung fu movies.

No moves, no techniques. It was just whoever went harder, won.

And Jiang Zhou’s only “gift” was that when he got serious, he felt no pain.

Thinking of all this, Zheng Yu realized how reckless he had just been.

He couldn’t even stand up to Sha Yujie, and now he’d almost picked a fight with Jiang Zhou?

“Co on, since you’re here, let’s just grab dinner together,” Jiang Zhou offered.

Zheng Yu glanced at Chu Yuwei. “…Nah. I should head back.”

“Alright then, I won’t stop you.”

“Yeah.” Zheng Yu turned, heading for the bus stop.

But just then, Jiang Zhou’s voice called from behind, “Oh, right. Don’t co all the way out here again. It’s way too far.

“If you miss , give a call. I’ll go see you.

“We’re all classmates. Just find directly. No need to go through Yuwei.”
