287: Portal of the Past – Space Unable to Progress _2 287: Portal of the Past – Space Unable to Progress _2 “There’s no issue with the space portal,” Philarx, the black-robed mage, had his eyes closed with his thin right hand moving in the air, as he touched and felt the will of the elents in the void.
After a while, he continued, “That’s right.
There’s no problem.
We’ve co to the right place.
What’s happening now is easy to understand.
The space journey from inside to outside is orderly, that is directly transported to where the gate of space opens.
But from the outside in, the space journey is disorderly, even if you enter simultaneously, you might be transported to different places.”
“In that case, we should have been scattered.” Kyle looked left and right, “None of us are missing, and there are no signs of scattering.”
“We have Lady Mina to thank for that,” Philarx said coldly, “Lady Mina used her body to envelop us all, perhaps the gate of space mistook us for one entity, like the various organs within our bodies, they won’t be scattered across the world due to disorderly transportation.”
“I understand.” Kyle nodded, “The next step is to ensure our retreat is clear.
Even though we were prepared for death when we ca, if we can survive by chance, we always need to return to the Yarran World.
So, the question now is, where on this continent is our way back, and where did the breakthrough of the Undead Army occur?”
“Over there.” Philarx pointed in the direction of the stars, “I can sense it, the fluctuations of the portal co from there.
The way ho should also be there.”
“Excellent.” Kyle clapped, “If the portal is there, then the Undead Army must be there too.
We could trace back to the source of the evil god’s remnant soul through the Undead Army.
Let’s start heading towards that direction then, the sooner we can solve this issue, the fewer casualties there will be on the Yarran Continent.”
Dillie roared and began to fly forward in the void, waving his wings.
Lady Mina turned into a human form and landed back onto Dillie’s back.
The Guardians, a race being dragons, have an unknown weakness, which is why Dillie had to act as a mode of transportation.
For the dragons, they have colossal bodies, and imnse power.
The Guardians, each dragon is at the legendary rank with corresponding strength from birth, and most mature dragons have a physical strength that can rival that of a demigod, theoretically equivalent to a demigod.
However, this is precisely the root cause of their weakness.
The excessively massive body and strength require trendous exertion for every move they make.
In order to sustain this physical exertion, they must eat food to replenish a large amount of physical energy.
It has been calculated that a dragon would need five hours of continuous eating to supply the energy required for a day’s activity.
If the hundreds of dragons in the Dragon Mountain Range were to move uncontrolled, they would soon deplete all food sources in the entire Yarran world.
Because of this weakness, coupled with the inherent laziness of dragons, most dragons have been lying dormant for years in their nests, reducing their energy consumption to the minimum and sparing the Yarran World from becoming their dinner.
“Wait, I think sothing’s wrong here, Dillie, stop,” Cried Kyle abruptly after two hours of calm flight in the void.
Riding the special scorpion-tailed lion, Dillie, although not as fast as the dragon Mina, was relatively swift.
Normally, a flight could cover nearly a thousand miles with one flap of his wings.
However, Kyle seed unsatisfied with the situation despite their high-speed flight and halted Dillie.
“Are we really moving forward?” Kyle asked, “Why can’t I tell at all?”
“If there are no reference points around, it’s hard to tell if we are moving forward,” Goblin Christo explained, “This situation is not uncommon.”
“No, we do have a reference point— our shadows,” Kyle pointed downwards.
As they were all ntally strong people and darkness wasn’t an issue for them, they closed off the light emitted by their aggression after inspecting the surroundings, and flew towards the distant light.
Hence, weak shadows of everyone were cast on Dillie’s back due to the faraway light.
Kyle pointed at these shadows and continued, “I’ve been paying attention to the shadows; any slight change can’t escape my eyes.
However, from the beginning until now, no one’s shadow has changed position.”
“Does this an that the light is too far away?
Distance of hundreds of kiloters won’t make a difference to the shadows?” Nellie, although not as knowledgeable as Kyle, understood so of the basic knowledge, “Or, are we not moving forward at all?”
“Probably the latter,” Kyle nodded, “I think so.
As this space isn’t that large, after all, it’s rely a space derived from a continent fragnt.”
“Perhaps, in this space, forward or backward does not exist?” Black-robed Philarx casually scribbled formulas on Dillie’s back with his finger, “This would an even after flying for a long ti, we are still in the sa place because the concept of forward does not exist.”
“No, there might be another explanation,” The goblin Christo suddenly stood up and scread, “I got it!
We are not moving, not because we can’t, but because we are not using the right thod.
The books once docunted a similar space rule that in this space, you cannot move through physical ans.
To move forward, you need to…”
Before he could finish, the thin body of the goblin suddenly disappeared from Dillie’s back, leaving no trace behind.
“Hey, little Kera,” The twins of the winged people were startled and exclaid, “The man suddenly disappeared, how?”
“The idiot was one step ahead,” Philarx replied with a sarcasm, “I got it too.
Here, moving forward is not by walking or flying but by concentrating.
When you concentrate on moving forward…”
Just like the goblin, the black-robed mage was the second one to disappear without a trace.
However, everyone understood now, they held tightly onto the mane on Dillie’s back instead of focusing their thoughts.
“It’s up to you now,” Kyle patted Dillie’s back, “I believe in you, as a capable ans of transportation, you can do it.”
“You’re the an of transportation, your entire family is ans of transportation,” Dillie grumbled unsatisfactorily.
Amongst Dillie’s roars, everyone disappeared at once, leaving only the void of darkness.
