Two centuries later, the mighty dragon Azyshï ca from the North and seized the territory of Faraway. Taking advantage of the weakened Central Empire and the terrible threat it represented, the monster declared Faraway independent (that is, entirely dependent on its draconic overlord) and subjected the surrounding regions to tribute.

Greatly weakened by the loss of the Northern March, the Empire sent several legions to restore peace, but they were defeated by Azyshï’s rcenary army. Known as the Red Army, after the dragon-colored uniforms of its soldiers, this new military force grew emboldened by its victory and launched an attack on the very heart of the Empire.

However, their ambitious enterprise ended in failure, and a new expedition managed to reclaim the North and put an end to the dragon’s life. The human cost, however, was so terrible that the Empire never fully recovered: this marked the beginning of its decline, which culminated toward the end of the following century.
