To prevent the enemy from escaping, we indeed made a big move: not only did Sandora personally handle the common folk on the scene, but we even utilized the Heroic Spirit Army to assist in blocking the streets. Together with a big bunch of agents on standby and a few of us personally taking action, it was entirely a posture of certainty to win. It was even so excessive that, for capturing an enemy whom Lin Xue felt was not very impressive, the Imperial High Level actually used so much force—it seed a little like they were full yet still eating.
"Strange, there’s still no movent from them. Are they scared silly, or do they just not realize?"
After arriving at the blockaded district, Sandora checked the spiritual mark she had placed beforehand and imdiately found it odd. I noncommittally replied, "Maybe they have so capability that makes them feel secure?"
"Impossible. The enemy’s energy response isn’t strong. Apart from that weird power, there’s nothing that should put us on alert," Sandora shook her head as she looked at the deserted streets around us, "This place really is broken down."
"Can’t be helped, it’s the old city area, right by the ssiest slums."
"The enemy’s" hiding place was beyond our expectations, not so prestigious and flashy headquarters building, but rather the most dilapidated and aged street in City K. Half of the houses here were still bungalows and shanties, with the tallest structure for miles being a high-voltage tower. The newest thing in sight was the character for ’demolish’ graffitied on a wall at the street corner. It was unbelievable that such a place had hosted a figure capable of almost causing a Night Parade of Hundred Demons in several nearby cities. Perhaps this was one of the reasons the Superpower Team’s scouts could never find the enemy’s location—who would think such a badass person could hide in such a miserable place?
The periter personnel had already sealed off all the entrances and exits to this street district, while Sandora had put all the common folk here into a deep sleep. This was firstly for their protection and to conceal our operations, and secondly to prevent the enemy from using the ordinary people’s spirit world to trigger a massive ghostly fluctuation. Even though small paranormal phenona would cease instantly under Lin Xue’s gaze, there were tens of thousands of people here, enough to give Lin Xue conjunctivitis from stress. Before coming here, Miss had also contacted the Superpower Team to take care of cleaning up afterward. How they felt about such arrangents is unknown, but having communicated with Boundless Love before, they presumably could accept this sort of thing.
"The enemy’s" energy reaction was already very clear. In this street district, put into a deep slumber by Sandora’s power, there was only one active target, glaringly obvious: less than a hundred ters ahead, inside a small storefront selling noodle sauce.
"I never thought an operation I personally commanded would unfold in such a place," looking at the low and cramped houses and the narrow, fragile streets which clearly couldn’t even withstand one claw from Abyss Sandora, the Queen sighed, "If I had known, I wouldn’t have followed Qianqian in this nonsense. This kind of operation should have been handed over to a squad of Imperial Soldiers."
By this ti, we had already approached the target building, a dilapidated corrugated steel house with a noodle sauce sign hanging at the door. A whole bunch of Imperial High Level attacking such a shabby "nest" was truly ridiculous. Not just Sandora felt a bit awkward, even I decided that I would never impulsively follow Qianqian around to cause trouble everywhere again.
But a certain spirited young girl, now thoroughly embracing her role as an International Police officer, wasn’t concerned with the subtle expressions on other people’s faces. As soon as she got close to the steel house, Qianqian pulled out the gaphone she had prepared, opening her mouth and almost blowing off the roof as she yelled, "Attention inside, suspects! You, or all of you, have been surrounded! Resistance is futile! Co out and surrender right now! You will have the right to remain silent afterward because we’ll make sure you can’t speak! We have plenty of people and fists... what are you doing, Ah Jun?"
"Can you not follow Bingdisi’s example and use her gangster language?"
I looked at the girl grinning foolishly, feeling utterly desolate as I was secretly furious that a certain female hooligan managed to corrupt my once innocent and lovely Qianqian when we weren’t looking.
"Clang—crash!"
A series of chaotic sounds also rose at the sa ti, coming from inside the steel house, appearing as if the person hiding inside had accidentally knocked over so pots and pans in a rush. Amidst it all, I thought I heard a small animal-like panicked squeak, but the sound was too soft and not very clear.
Qianqian’s reckless action had unexpectedly caused such a noise, leaving everyone looking at each other, while Visca, impatiently, pulled out a thousand-milliter cannon and stood in front of her sister with a ready posture, "Might as well just blast it away, I still want to go ho and watch cartoons!"
Perhaps this threat had worked unexpectedly, as I had yet to tell the sisters to quickly put away that huge cannon unsuitable for street fighting, a dirty figure tumbled and crawled out from the colorful steel house, muttering sothing hurriedly as she got up, sadly I couldn’t catch it clearly.
Then, this dirty figure received a unanimous audience from the Imperial High Level.
"This... should just be a little girl, right?"
Sandora’s eyebrows twitched slightly as she spoke with a subtle tone.
Uh, it seems so, I thought I was seeing things.
The one who had tumbled out of the small house was just a dirty girl, looking about thirteen or fourteen years old, probably between the age of a loli and a youth, with shoulder-length cascading hair almost turned into a ssy mass by black coal soot stains, but a bit of gold still clearly visible: could she actually be a foreigner? The girl’s clothes, though ragged, seed to have been quite fancy with ornants when intact, her attire a strange mix between casual and formal outfits, sothing even a peculiar place like Erli Bridge wouldn’t have.
We had mobilized a large force and had everyone in a chase for just such a figure.
Not only was I stunned, but even the usually unflappable Qianqian was left gaping; the girl paused, then looked expectantly at the little girl who was watching us with terrified eyes, saying, "So, are you not ready yet? Maybe we should wait for you to transform before we start fighting?"
Was this girl convinced that the other was a Great Demon King cloaked in a young girl’s skin?
"I’m... I’m sorry!" The dirty girl clasped her hands in front of her chest, bowing deeply to us, her voice surprisingly pleasant and sowhat rhythmic, "I was just too hungry, I didn’t an to steal... It wasn’t who made the people here fall asleep, really... I just wanted so food..."
"Joining this uproar was a huge mistake," Sandora, rubbing her forehead with her index finger, spoke with a thick layer of resentnt in her tone. Though she was a cheerful girl in normal tis, it didn’t an she could ss around like Qianqian during a mission. Facing almost a farcical situation, she felt her dignity was swept away. Not that she ever seed very imposing in front of us.
"There’s no one else nearby," Lin Xue’s voice erged through the spiritual connection, "It’s just this girl. My powers still encounter so distortion when applied to her, an interference not sothing ordinary people can manage."
As Lin Xue unexpectedly used her prediction ability to analyze the identity of the mysterious young girl, the latter seed to sense it and suddenly looked up, her bright, wary eyes eting ours—proving that despite her harmless look, the mysterious girl was indeed not ordinary.
"Um..." I took a step forward, stopping at a distance that wouldn’t cause her to flee, and opened my mouth but was sowhat unsure what to say. Our original purpose here was to farm a BOSS, then proceed with a righteous trial, but we hadn’t expected to not find a BOSS, instead randomly encountering a Little Red Riding Hood. If it were the Iron Armor Little Red Riding Hood from Qianqian’s story capable of so fight, it might have worked out, but our eting had seed to scare the girl silly, not to ntion resisting, she even shuddered at the sound of our voice. Going up and giving a rousing speech now... wouldn’t that be ridiculous?
"We co in the na of maintaining world peace! Co clean with your na, address, origin, nationality, gender, and whether you’ve undergone gender reassignnt, the number of people in your household, how many acres you own, what’s grown in those acres, bring out your household registration book, all generations of your ID cards, bank cards, driver’s license, elentary school diploma, and certificates from all levels, get everything out!"
"I was wrong, indeed there was another person on the scene who could act out the original script regardless of the atmosphere. Lilina strode forward, blocking the way with sweeping grandeur, and pointed her finger like a Justice Warrior challenging the Great Demon King, saying each word with weight."
A dirty, naless girl was startled, gazes confusedly at the little sister who spoke nonsense, standing less than 1.1 ters tall and hadn’t even begun to speak, when Lilina continued, "Most importantly: Have you been causing the frequent hauntings in town?!"
"Sorry," the dirty girl mumbled, shrinking her head down, appearing to be soone used to apologizing, but her next words made pay attention, "It wasn’t on purpose. I never expected that this world did not have Summoning Techniques, causing trouble for everyone..."
Sandora’s gaze slightly changed, her pupils beginning to flow with golden light; she then focused her eyes on the dirty girl’s waist.
Just as she had noticed Lin Xue’s focus, the naless girl imdiately beca aware of Sandora’s gaze and hastily covered the small pouch on her waist. However, her movent was only halfway done when it was interrupted by Sandora’s powerful mind control, and she watched helplessly as Sandora retrieved sothing from her.
Sandora found a silver-white tallic disc from the naless girl’s waist, waved it to us, and imdiately following was the loud outcry of the naless girl: "Give it back to ! Return the Holy Plate to !"
"What is that thing?"
After Sandora returned, I whispered, looking at the tallic disc in her hand, the familiar energy patterns on it surprised .
"It’s a modified communication terminal often used by the Imperial Commanders, directly connected to the mind." Sandora’s fingers gently traced the edge of the disc, her expression solemn, "There are no registration numbers; it seems manually erased to let ordinary people use it."
"Don’t tamper with the Holy Plate! It’s dangerous! Quickly return it to !"
While Sandora analyzed the communication terminal, the filthy, mysterious girl kept shouting desperately. Suddenly, Visca pulled out a cannon, aiming it coldly at her and said, "Why do you have Imperial property?"
Facing the massive weapon, the mysterious girl shockingly cald down in an instant, took a defensive stance, and started to encourage herself, "I can only fight, can fight... Okay, my mission is to protect the Holy Plate... It’s okay, I learned everything from my teacher, I can definitely take it back..."
"What is she mumbling about?" I nudged Lin Xue next to , curious about the Prophet’s opinion on this bizarre girl, but she suddenly pulled Sandora and to jump back: "Be careful!"
"Thunder Roar!"
Though the dirty girl’s body was still locked down by Sandora’s mind control, she was still able to initiate an attack, and shouted two words in our direction. Shortly afterward, the sky began ringing with the sound of energy gathering. Right after Lin Xue pulled and Sandora away, a searing white beam fell before us, lting the ground into a pool of churning magma less than half a ter in front of everyone.
My lips twitched slightly, speechlessly looking up at the sky; the twisted vortex-shaped space gate high up hadn’t dissipated yet, and the cannon of the ard satellite was faintly visible through the distorted light screen.
After years of satellite bombings, today almost let the Satellite Cannon hit .
"Just a mont ago, her spiritual wave mutated, resembling a Xyrin Apostle," Sandora was genuinely interested in the girl ahead, unconcerned about the narrowly avoided Satellite Cannon. In fact, even without Lin Xue’s warning, one round of the Satellite Cannon might not have broken through Sandora’s Energy Shield; it would have rely been a close call. "And now she is back to her normal state, really a strange creature, not human at all."
"Did they avoid it?" the naless girl bit her lip because Sandora had released the Mind Control, and the liberated girl imdiately stepped back, warily watching this side. "This is your final warning: return the Holy Plate to ! I don’t want to hurt anyone!"
I don’t know where this girl suddenly got the courage, or rather, how this reckless foolishness ca about. Facing an overwhelming disadvantage in numbers and lacking any knowledge of the enemy’s strength, she confidently launched an attack. Seeing that Visca did not even attempt to defend with the massive cannon he held but just faced the enemy foolishly head-on, did she really know what fighting ant?
Sandora was growing exceedingly interested in this peculiar girl. The girl, human in form, summoned a Satellite Strike and carried an Imperial information terminal. This was beginning to confirm Lin Xue’s earlier prediction. Now, to see what other secrets this girl held, Sandora began maliciously juggling the "Holy Plate" that the girl valued highly, all the while watching the girl with an arrogantly triumphant smile that clearly conveyed: co and get it yourself.
This provocation successfully angered the opponent. The grimy girl suddenly placed her hands on the ground and shouted, "Remona! Retrieve the Holy Plate for !"
Golden haloes intricately spread from beneath the girl, each emitting characters like physical formulas, yet indecipherable. They rose to midair, forming an oval gate nearly ten ters in diater, glowing with a golden light. We watched in astonishnt as this seemingly fragile girl displayed such a sensational skill, until a giant Magical Beast covered in black-purple dense fur, wrapped with countless dazzling lightnings and sporting two wolf heads, got stuck in that gate.
If I guessed correctly, this giant "animal" that rushed out from the gate but got stuck halfway must be what the girl called Remona.
Despite being jamd at the Summoning Gate due to its size, the Magical Beast nad Remona still tried to attack the enemies. The fierce extraterrestrial creature’s lightning nearly ford a serpent rushing towards us. The enormous two-headed wolf struggled frantically while emitting a deafening howl: "Woof! Woof! Woof! Woof!"
: "..."
"Um... I’m so hungry, I can’t summon anymore..." the naless girl rubbed her stomach, apologetically watching the two-headed wolf stuck in the mid-air Teleportation Gate, which suddenly ceased its roaring at the enemies and tilted its head, puzzled by its summoner: "Woof?"
Then, with a "piu" sound, the two-headed giant wolf could only let out a yelp, like a pet dog whose tail was stepped on, before it disappeared along with the Summoning Gate without a trace.
"Damn it... If it weren’t for my hunger, this wouldn’t have failed... You really should return the Holy Plate to ! That thing is not sothing you can ss with!" The naless girl’s face was full of regret, but she stubbornly asked us to return her treasure. Unaware of her absolute disadvantage and even carrying an irrational fearlessness in her tone, she repeatedly emphasized the danger of the "Holy Plate," as if she were concerned about us, the enemies.
"Let it be, it seems today really was a huge misunderstanding... Geez, after being busy for so many days, we ended up catching such a brat," Lin Xue pouted in frustration, taking the information terminal called "Holy Plate" from Sandora’s hand, and while walking towards the naless girl, she fished out two other information terminals of the sa shape from her Personal Space, distinguished only by color.
"Young lady, I am the Prophet of this world. Now the choice is yours: did you lose the Silver Plate, the Gold Plate, or the Iron Plate?"
Our Miss Prophet has a radiant smile on her face, presenting three differently colored discs in front of the stunned girl. (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welco to visit qidian to vote and support, your support is my greatest motivation.)
