Capítulo 1157: Chapter 1157: God and Their Children
For the Star Domain Divine Race, a deity descending upon the world they govern, although a historical event, is also sothing people are quite familiar with. Because of the presence of the True God and the close relationship between the True God, the world, and mortals, within the Star Domain territories, it is not uncommon to see a Managent God appearing before mortals and even helping them solve problems. However, from the perspective of the lifespan of most mortals, the chance to encounter a deity’s descent is truly rare. Moreover, the deity’s noble status makes every deity’s descent a bustling and grand occasion. This truly gives the Managent God a headache, because for mortals, a god may appear only once every few centuries, and they feel a grand celebration is necessary to commorate such a historic mont. But for those gods in the Star Domain who have no concept of ti…
It’s only been a mont since the last descent, hasn’t it? / It seems they just visited this world. / How co the last ceremonial ritual just ended and it’s starting again? / Don’t they feel bored celebrating so often…?
The above is the true portrayal of a deity’s heart: in their eyes, the concept of ti is seriously disconnected from that of mortals with limited lifespans…
So when erging from the temple, Yelsen and Monina appeared sowhat helpless, but upon seeing the faithful waiting outside, they still put on a faint smile and waved to the priests on either side of the road.
Our group pretended to be priests following behind them, with mischievous smiles as we watched the siblings forced to greet the faithful with a compassionate deanor for all to see: making these two crafty siblings perform such a scene is truly a challenge for them.
Lei, Eva, and Pope Mu were the closest to the gods, being the only ones allowed to follow directly behind them, and we followed behind. I keenly noticed that the three walking between Yelsen’s siblings and us were stiff all over, walking like zombies—a sign of nervousness. How could they not be nervous? After all, a god’s descent was already exciting enough for them, and now there’s a group of “gods” following behind them. I could only have Sandora use her spirit to calm them down a bit, to prevent the two old masters from having heart attacks and getting called to the Lord prematurely—though honestly, looking at Lei and Mr. Mu’s physical conditions, they don’t look like the type to have heart attacks; the pope is still a vigorous man who can run from the four ring road to the city center.
And among our group, the little ones acted just like the adults, wearing smaller priest robes, hopping and skipping along with the procession (Pandora being the most well-behaved among them), and occasionally bursting out with giggles and laughter. These sowhat noisy little ones, who looked every bit like they belonged to the loli stage, drew attention second only to the gods ahead parading like trophies. The roadside was packed with believers permitted to gaze upon the divine light, and a third of the eyes couldn’t help but fall on this group of little girls. Perhaps no one could fathom why such a group of unruly children were even part of the procession—likely afterward, Lei and Mr. Mu would have their hands full.
“Hey, do you really need to dress a sli in clothes too?”
I turned back for a glance, unable to resist asking Qianqian quietly.
Amidst those little girls was another striking figure, not due to her noise but because she didn’t quite belong to the human race: a jelly-like creature dressed in a priest’s robe. Although resembling a little girl—modeled after Little Crow—she was transparent like a water pouch, seeming to waver as she walked, as if the liquid inside might co gushing out. This was the Arcane Dwarf that recently beca the children’s toy at ho; its intelligence was as high as that of an autonomous machine. Under the mischief of the naughty kids, it had now beco another little rascal itself in line with its simplest imprint learning mode. The sli walked at the back, imitating its young masters by frequently waving to the crowd around, causing exclamations every ti it turned its head: folks in this world probably had never seen a jelly that could walk upright.
“It’s quite fun, it’s quite fun.”
Qianqian’s response was utterly unsurprising to , and hearing this reason, I could only sigh helplessly.
The ones welcoming the gods standing on both sides of the road were ascetics. Although an ergency-organized team, they still strictly followed the religious etiquette in laying the ‘Holy Road.’ Wielding broad leaves, the ascetics in dark gray hemp robes paved the path the gods were about to tread upon, and after the procession passed, those trampled leaves were collected and carefully placed into large baskets by the ascetics. The procession’s destination was the large plaza at the center of the Church District, spanning about half a kiloter, and I pondered how the leaves laid down could probably kindle a bonfire enough for a 123-execution event if piled up… Why did I just think of such a bizarre thought?
And after the ascetic procession ca the female believers dressed in gray-white robes, holding shallow plates filled with a clear liquid. Judging by the faint scent wafting in the air, it seed to be so sort of alcoholic beverage.
Alright, a truly peculiar religious ritual, one that, having never delved into such matters, I couldn’t quite understand: it all seed very lively nonetheless.
Luckily, there was a helpful person by my side. Lin, spotting my confusion, eagerly began explaining: “These rituals have been passed down from ancient tis. The broad leaves are from the first ‘Elloca’ tree’s leaves to fall. People on the Azure Star believe the tree holds divinity, with the trunk acting as pillars connecting the Divine Realm and the Mortal World. Thus, believers use these leaves for the deity’s path, symbolizing the sacred journey from the Divine Realm to the Mortal World. Afterward, these leaves must be gathered and used to build a bonfire on the god’s first night here: locals believe the smoke from burning Elloca leaves can reach Heaven, reporting the deity’s safe arrival. Also, the drink in those shallow dishes is brewed from ‘Morolo,’ and over eight hundred years ago, when this planet faced a near-extinction level famine and plague, following prayers, Yelsen Big Brother brought down a hundred seeds of Morolo from the captain’s garden, which matured every minute, quickly ending the disaster. Since then, Morolo wine has been offered to the god, and during godly descents, believers bring out years-old brews to report the world’s abundance to the deity. Also, various interpretations of believers’ activities exist, but explaining them all would be troubleso…”
“Oh, oh, it’s enough, very interesting.” I said to Lin with a smile, previously feeling the scene before was rely lively, but had never anticipated there being so much to it—a reminder that every world has its diverse stories.
“Ah, though it’s nice to commorate, responding frequently to such ceremonies is quite botherso,” Bingdisi complained, walking behind , “Actually, at first, aside from drafting the Bible, we didn’t set any rituals or dogmas for believers, but they will eventually organize strange activities themselves, both amusing and frustrating.”
“Ahem…” Lilina couldn’t help but cough: perhaps in the Star Domain Divine Race filled with peculiarity, this Pope was truly one-of-a-kind.
“Although saying this, it seems you never really walk away either,” I added with a chuckle. “Look at Yelsen and Monina, they seem happy with their smiles too.”
Bingdisi added with a shrug, “There’s no helping it, is there? Many of these Mortal Races worshipping the Star Domain Divine Race grew up being watched over by us, and several races were even created by their gods personally. For us, their faithful offer things they think are ‘good’ on the altar in a world of their own making, hoping to please us—how could you just turn away from that?”
At the end, Bingdisi added, “Therefore, those who rely set up bizarre activities on their own, without religious guidance or rules from their gods, certainly deserve a chuckle.”
As for what Bingdisi said, I found it difficult to relate to personally, but I could understand the point, so I nodded quickly. At that mont, the prolonged path finally opened up into a terminus; the human wall ford by the ascetics and nuns lining both sides of the road reached a wide granite-paved square in the center of the Church District. I thought the path itself, maybe half a kiloter long, lined with those leaves, was large enough already. But facing us was an open entrance, leading to what appeared to be a coliseum surrounded on three sides by elevated stands.
“””
“The ritual,” the Dragon God Girl said seriously, “is a ceremonial procedure passed down from ancient tis, which basically involves all believers coming to gaze at the God in batches, while also offering tributes. If the God has anything to say directly to the followers, it will also be announced at this ti. It’s like a celebrity fan et combined with a press conference and a national trade and crafts fair…”
I fixed my gaze on the Dragon God Girl, thinking when did Lin beco so eloquent with her words.
I understood what she ant. No matter how often a God thinks they’re descending, for mortals, it’s still a rare sight to see once in a century (not wrong). When a God finally descends, naturally, the nearby believers will spare no effort to co and take a look. Therefore, they might as well hold a large-scale celebrity et-and-greet so the God and mortals can et directly. In worlds that worship fake gods or simply have no tangible gods to believe in, this is unimaginable. Only Star Domain Gods enjoy being with their ‘children’ and gladly provide help within their power without affecting the developnt of the other civilization, which is why such gatherings where the Gods personally attend can take place.
“Oh, a gathering, a gathering,” upon hearing about the commotion, Qianqian was the first to spring out, “is it fun?”
Lin looked up at the sky at a forty-five-degree angle and said rather troubled, “It’s actually quite boring, sitting there for hours without being able to move. Only when receiving tributes at the end does it get interesting: every once in a while, the kids bring out all sorts of fresh and amusing trinkets, useful or not, they’re quite fun. Oh, there’s still a pile of seven-hundred-year-old Gle Wood Carvings they gifted in my castle. They were all the rage back then, so they made the god the largest set, and I wanted another set, but alas, the world’s trend for wood carving has passed—the interests of mortals are so fleeting.”
: “…” I feel like the Star Domain Gods are the least qualified to say such things.
Lin found the ritual boring because she’s always at the center being watched, but we were in disguise among the crowd, which was quite entertaining—watching usually cheerful Monina and Yelsen having to sit glumly on the “Divine Throne” trying to look dignified, while sneaking glances at us, was oddly satisfying.
The welcoming gods’ gathering is a grand celebration and entertainnt for most participants. Apart from the formal ceremony in the central square, people in the surrounding areas can enjoy freely (as Dingdang once decreed), as long as it doesn’t violate religious teachings. Any entertainnt activities are allowed, and once the divine descent is confird, the Church District also opens to civilians, demonstrating the God’s love for mortals. This is one of the few tis when the strict Church District offers comprehensive relaxation, and in the subsequent day or two, such celebrations quickly spread worldwide, with every Church Holy Land organizing various celebratory events. People gather before divine statues expressing their joy and receive unprecedented divine blessings: blessings varying according to the God who descends, but all are imnsely beneficial.
During this process, the Gods descending to the mortal world spend their days being watched by all, looking longingly at the rrymaking like adults watching naughty kids have fun but unable to join in themselves…
All the kids who ca along had already vanished except for Pandora, and even that Sli was nowhere to be seen, seemingly not returning till alti. Qianqian was off with her sister and Lin Xue watching the perforrs outside the square showcasing their various interesting tricks. This world’s perforrs believe that displaying their skills before Gods can bring good fortune and improve their craft, while these tricks are also for the Gods’ view, but cannot be grandly perford before the Holy Throne, so they perform outside the square: what an awkward rule, I saw from afar Monina’s expression as if she had pins on her seat…
During this, Sandora never forgot to search for anything that looked edible in her sight, well, I an, she never forgot to search for any items in her sight.
The whole family indeed ca with a tourist mindset.
As for ? I wasn’t really interested in those talent shows; I was just enjoying watching 123 and his sister roll their eyes in boredom on the viewing platform.
Of course, in places where believers gather, so slightly amusing incidents happen, such as… various divine punishnts.
Dingdang ran out! Dingdang is drinking from the charity sale drinks! Dingdang is eating fruits from others’ stalls! Dingdang got caught! Dingdang is being chased! Dingdang completed a five-kill! Dingdang disappeared again! Who knows when chain lightning might appear again!
“Letting that little thing co out was a huge mistake.” I covered my forehead unwilling to witness, as a group of unlucky “divine punishnt” victims stood up trembling, looking at each other speechlessly. The divine punishnt they suffered seed more like Dingdang’s prank, though their whole-body spasms were unavoidable, it looked like soon I’d have another voluntarily turned Dingdang Ball, that little thing leaving trouble wherever she goes.
“Say, haven’t these believers recognized the Life Goddess?” Bingdisi looked inexplicably at Lin and Kenser, “Dingdang is the only one among you not in disguise, right?”
“No way, believers now don’t know the Captain’s exact height,” Lin stuck out her tongue, “The Bible couldn’t possibly annotate a line ‘Life Goddess is twelve centiters tall,’ right? People wouldn’t associate a palm-sized mischievous thing that steals food with the Life Goddess.”
: “…Indeed.”
The day passed lively like this; what does it count as, the first day of reunion between Gods and their children. Fortunately, 123 still rembered the main task, and I didn’t forget that the Fifth Fleet was still hanging sorrowfully in outer space. So, on the second day, we sent people to search the Universe for the certain alien object Lin Xue saw in the Illusion.
Incidentally, on the second day, 123 and Monina themselves had to be displayed on the square and could only send out their Divine Servants to act.
The good news is, since this world is managed by 123, there is a well-established world managent system here (well, it’s also a pirated version, Dingdang Team used all pirated versions, but at least 123’s managent system knows to tily upgrade patches), searching for the “alien object” wasn’t so difficult, and with the help of Divine Servants familiar with the Universe’s environnt, the search went smoothly. In just a day, based on the system log in the worldview system, we roughly determined where the “alien object” appeared.
