Chapter 1032: Chapter 1032: divh… divh

(I can still ask for votes for one more day, so let’s continue asking for votes today…)

“Anwina, are you entertaining guests?”

I glanced at the three people in the room—well, no matter what strange race they are, I just call them people; it’s a habit I’ve developed after eting many peculiar individuals. I felt I should play the role of the head of the household, so I put on a particularly serious smile and nodded to greet the guests before looking at the Little Ghost.

Great, this expression is perfect. The Ghost Maid, who is always cautious, has brought a familiar face ho for the first ti. As the head of the household, I certainly can’t lose face—it’s a very perfect first eting…

“Brother’s smile is weird, kind of has a conspiratorial flavor,” Visca suddenly murmured. This nearby voice made my expression freeze, then I slowly lowered my head, suddenly feeling that life was bleak: Pandora and Visca were still hanging on , rubbing back and forth on either side. I’d gotten used to it after hanging on all the way here, so I forgot to take them down when entering… I appeared before the guests as a moving fortress.

“Uh… very creative way to appear,” Sandora glanced at and grumbled, suppressing her laughter.

“Ah, the master is here.” Anwina also hurriedly got up; she wouldn’t pay attention to whether her master had any slip-ups. She hurriedly floated to prepare tea for , “Master, please wait a mont, I’ll prepare so Black Tea…”

“Oh, it’s okay, it’s okay, you’re entertaining guests, don’t work so hard,” I said while taking off the two Shortys who had been hanging on all the way, forcibly pressing them onto the sofa. There was already a pot of drink on the table, presumably prepared by Anwina for the guests. I got myself a cup from the side and poured a cup. I found the drink strange: it was a bright liquid with a purple-grey sheen, feeling sowhat ethereal and unreal. But since Anwina had prepared the drink, it shouldn’t be bad, so I casually drank it all…

“Pfft—” Before it reached my stomach, I sprayed it out, “What is this?”

Anwina looked like she was about to cry: “Ghost Grass Essence and Ghost Spirit Seaweed Extract—it’s sothing the undead like to drink…”

I thought for a mont, not daring to ask what these things actually looked like. anwhile, I decided in my heart that I should never randomly eat any strange things I happen to encounter again, even if Anwina made it too: I almost forgot that this all-purpose maid doesn’t only make food for humans. This little misunderstanding is a bit awkward, so I chose to find a topic. I glanced at the three guests and imdiately recognized one: it was the human female dressed in a mage robe. I’d seen her before around Jaina, and during the Shadow City Carnival she was quite active.

“Aegwen? Is it you?”

The female mage smiled gracefully, stood up, and gave a lady-like courtesy whose aning was unknown but looked impressive: “Esteed Imperial Emperor, I’m glad to et you again. Hmm, your way of welcoming is quite unique.”

Aegwen—so may find this na unfamiliar, but she’s a key figure in Azeroth’s history. This powerful human mage is a Guardian and the biological mother of divh. It seems that profound magical attainnt greatly extended her youth, and without prior knowledge, I would hardly imagine this lady has such a big son—well, that’s beside the point. After divh was seduced and corrupted by Sargeras, Aegwen lost track for a while. Later, she arrived at Jaina’s side and settled in Serramo. When the Imperial Army reached Azeroth, Aegwen was still serving as an advisor in Serramo. Our arrival completely disrupted what could have been the original historical trajectory of Azeroth—in fact, the mont the Fallen Apostle stepped into the Burning Legion and took over those demons, Azeroth’s history had already begun to head toward a completely different world. Later, Aegwen fought bravely within the Salvation Army and survived the final battle; she can be said to be a senior mber of the Salvation Army and one of our acquaintances. Though it’s been a while since we’ve been in contact.

It’s unexpected that Anwina invited her over—though they know each other, they are definitely not close friends, which puzzled . But then I quickly thought of sothing: Aegwen might have been invited by Anwina for so other reason.

Our family recently has a crow nad divh, and Anwina is divh’s guardian…

“Ahem, is it about divh?” I scratched my head, “This matter should indeed be explained to you. By the way, let introduce the other two guests first, this little girl is…”

The little girl, seemingly only ten years old, imdiately jumped off the sofa clumsily and gave a nonsensical salute. It’s clear she doesn’t know any greeting etiquette at all, and the clothes she wears are quite plain, not resembling an upper-society child along with Aegwen. The little girl has so freckles and a bit of baby fat, so she can’t be said to be pretty, but her eyes are quite lively. Her body presents a semi-transparent look similar to Anwina, but her glow is much dimr, and her face a bit vague. It’s apparent she’s an undead creature, and much weaker than Anwina.

Anwina gently caressed the little girl’s hair, and the ghost’s strands floated in the air, scattering faint white light spots: “This is Pala, in Dalaran County, we often spent ti together. During the reconstruction and purification work in the Eastern Plague Region, every remaining undead with hope was registered. Many of them still rember their nas… I never expected to see her again.”

I was instantly dumbfounded, looking at the curious little girl examining her surroundings, feeling that I’m destined to experience all sorts of strange events. Pala? This little girl is Pala?

“Eastern Plague is more or less reconstructed, the later reconstruction work was led by Lady Sylvanas,” Aegwen added at the side, “Azeroth’s Leader Conference has deliberated a proposal for the Forgotten to expand their living space, as the ruins of Lordaeron are no longer sufficient for the undead to survive: after the Catastrophe Army was thoroughly crushed, a large number of High Order Undead regained their intelligence. They’re now uniformly ruled by Lady Sylvanas, which caused a population surge among the Forgotten. Having gained understanding and recognition from various tribes, the Forgotten realized they are a new, complete race, and having found their aning of existence, they wish for a better living environnt. A small part of the Eastern and Western Plague Zones has been fully purified, allowing various tribes’ farrs to establish new towns, while most regions are undergoing large-scale reconstruction as an Undead Kingdom. The ones wandering in the Eastern Plague Region are mostly High Order Undead or soul bodies retaining their consciousness due to fortuitous reasons, and this little girl nad Pala belongs to the latter. Recently, I’ve led so spiritualists to assist in the Eastern Plague Region’s population census work… Ahem, you should know that spiritualists’ undead magic is actually learned from magical holy lands like Dalaran; strictly speaking, they’re also a type of mage, and back then, as the dark wizards began to rise and spread the spirit summoning technique… I know a bit. After the war, many spiritualists who escaped control and are willing to be benevolent accepted protection under Lady Sylvanas; a small part was reclaid by various magic organizations, and Jaina also provided shelter to those who passed rigorous scrutiny. I’m leading that group.”

Aegwen narrated her recent activities, also considered reporting the new changes in Azeroth’s original Plague Zone to . I rembered the last ti visiting the holand of Lordaeron, the Plague Zone was prepared to be completely purified for human habitation. Now, it seems the Forgotten have received care from other races, and the Eastern and Western Plagues are set to transform into an Undead Empire, which should be a change after I left. These matters can perhaps be seen in various reports, but now the regional issues of a single world are no longer directly reported to and Sandora, so I truly am not very clear.

“Dalaran County is Anwina’s hotown, thus it counts as a key reconstruction area where a longer planning and preparation was undertaken, and recently they’re beginning construction. You might not be aware, but Anwina is quite famous among the Forgotten, referred to as ‘Lady Anwina’ by Forgotten civilians (here ‘Lady’ typically refers to noble won of status in Azeroth’s civilian circle), or simply called Undead Princess—they believe serving beside the Imperial Emperor ans her status must be akin to a princess within the lower world, but the common people’s view on social hierarchy is quite simple.”

I couldn’t help but glance at the Little Ghost beside , finding that she was already blank-eyed and wavering gently in the air. Well, she fiddled with a self-entertaining Undead Empire in the basent, only to unexpectedly earn such a title in the Azeroth world—though it’s a less credible title among Forgotten civilians, and to be honest, I feel Azeroth’s world genuinely muddled the definition of “princess.” But judging by Anwina’s look, it’s enough to daze this little maid for half a day.

“Ahem, Anwina is like my sister, it’s not an exaggeration to say it this way. Now let’s talk about Pala’s matter?” I reached out intending to touch little Pala’s head, only to have this ghostly girl evade nimbly; she seed full of curiosity and caution towards the unfamiliar environnt, appearing to only be close with Anwina.

“When we found her, little Pala’s self-awareness was still in a state of confusion. She seed unaware that she had died, nor did she notice that the town had changed appearance. Initially, we planned to take her to Dark City, but later found she seed unwilling to leave. This little girl is searching for sothing. We asked soul experts to talk to this little undead, and were surprised to hear Anwina’s na from her. Thus, we reached out to Anwina through many twists and turns. Your companion, Lady Qianqian, acted as an interdiary—she seems to be not at ho?”

“Uh, she… went out to play, who knows where she is now.” Although it was said she intended to go to the suburbs when she departed, to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if she called from Rio de Janeiro.”

I was initially quite curious about how Pala connected with Anwina. The little ghost stays at ho all day, I’ve never seen her interacting with outsiders. But once I heard Qianqian’s na, everything seed to make sense: it wouldn’t be strange for Anwina to connect with anyone.

Seeing Pala whispering with Anwina, I felt strange, sowhat surreal, yet mostly relieved. Finally, my attention turned to the last person: a pale-haired male with a lifeless aura. His aura also belonged to a spiritual body, but perhaps because his strength was too strong during his life, this spiritual body was almost substantial. I realized I had been mistaken in my earlier observation: he didn’t seem as burly as I thought. His face was thin, only the wide cloak on him gave him a sufficiently broad back. Throughout our conversation, this stranger remained silent, neither introducing himself nor engaging in surrounding topics, imrsed entirely in his thoughts, his sowhat long hair covering most of his face, hiding his appearance in shadow: hardly a polite guest. Anwina should have introduced the guest’s identity, but she seed to have forgotten.”

From his attire, I could only deduce that he was a mage, possibly having just returned from a long journey: his robe was extrely worn-out.

The stranger finally woke from his contemplation, answering in a muffled voice: “I am divh… Hmm, part of is.”

: “…”

“Aegwen, why didn’t you introduce earlier?!” I exclaid, truly not expecting to see a… what do you call it, a living historical figure, right, “divh? That divh?”

Aegwen paused for a mont, shrugged: “You were just inquiring about Pala’s situation, didn’t have ti to introduce, and besides… he is indeed divh but not my son, only part of the latter, as you’ve noticed, he’s an undead and not complete. I really don’t know how to deal with such a situation.”

“I am a fragnt from Karazhan Tower, remaining part of divh’s soul,” began the undead who claid to be divh. He first looked at Aegwen, then said in a low voice, “divh has been fragnted into many parts. I am currently the only located one. My mother—I an, the mother of my complete self—suggested I seek help.”

I realized the situation might be more complex than expected, not just Anwina inviting a few guests. So I beca serious: “Start from the beginning, what exactly happened?”

“I once used my own power to resurrect divh,” Aegwen said solemnly, “that was years after he was killed, when dark forces once again descended upon Azeroth. But the resurrection wasn’t perfect, he returned to the mortal world as a half-undead, trying to warn the human kingdom. You probably know what happened afterward, his efforts failed, ultimately leading Jaina and Sal across the sea to Kalimdor. After that, I lost divh’s traces, only knowing he still wandered the world. Until Abyss Power invaded the world, the salvation war started, I tried to find news of him, always to no avail. After the war, I learned my son had died again. He likely tried to fight against so mutated demons but didn’t know those demons were not what he knew anymore. This ti, to prevent him from resurrecting, demons divided his soul into several parts, one fragnt, the only one retaining so mories and most power, unintentionally wandered into Karazhan Tower and resided within that Tower of Undead. There, he found remnants of divh’s living power, slowly regaining form to beco what you see now. I feel he should be considered my child, but obviously… only part of him is.”

I hadn’t expected such a series of stories during the salvation war; the world of Azeroth didn’t match history as I knew it, nor did divh’s fate align with my impressions: he surprisingly survived as a half-undead during the early salvation war and died in that war. Afterward, his soul fragnt wandered to Karazhan Tower? I know that tower, after the war, we found it still stood, so preserved it as a historical relic without moving a single brick or tile—maybe by then, divh’s shadow was already inside that tower?

“How did you find him later? Did you go to Karazhan Tower?” I asked curiously.

Aegwen seed reluctant to speak; divh couldn’t help but interject: “No, that tower is sealed, its space ti self-contained, no one can enter it—well, most people can’t enter. Even I couldn’t leave: after entering the tower, my mind was muddled, completely unaware of who I was or what that place was, only knowing it should be my ho during life, so I lived there. Later, soone broke my muddled state, released from this curse, allowing to leave the tower, only to find the outside world had changed imnsely, the familiar world destroyed, the land covered in the scars of war. The Windward Path entrance had a weird goblin town called Shunfeng Express, Stormwind City was filled with bizarre recruitnt ads and unfamiliar machinery. Following the only direction my soul could sense, I found my living mother, then realized I was a fragnted soul…”

I felt I should interrupt: “You said soone freed you from Karazhan’s curse, allowing you to leave that tower. Who did it? Soone entered Karazhan?”

Aegwen finally thought it best to speak, so nodded decisively: “Yes, your… uh, she claims to be your wife, the one nad Bubbles…”

I was thoroughly shocked: “What?!”

Anwina covered half her face, sighed: “Lady Bubbles said she wanted to brush off the King Guardian, so she led nine mass-produced machines and really went to Azeroth. They fully explored Karazhan but found no monsters, only discovered an undead wandering inside the tower, and that undead attacked them…”

divh spread his hands: “When I woke, I found myself being knocked down by a group of identical little girls; the leading girl was wielding a shining hamr, smashing my head, demanding I give her equipnt—thus the curse was lifted.”

: “I apologize…”

“No, I am very grateful she lifted the curse for , I rember I initiated the attack, they had to counterattack, and upon realizing I regained my senses, those little girls imdiately stopped and healed my injuries: this is a kindness.”

: “…”

Do you know how tearless I felt? I envisioned countless reasons for divh to appear before , never once imagining it was my kid’s mom’s doing. That ga fanatic finally decided to venture into the real world, she really led a ten-person group into Karazhan, even fiercely attacked the only humanoid inside—divh’s echo…

Now, I’d rather go back to studying that pile of reports-the kind of “casual task” created by my kid’s mom is way too colorful, isn’t it? (To be continued.
