"Ms. Bell, do you need to take you to the hospital for a checkup?" Jasper Monroe asked apologetically.
"No need." Daisy Bell shook her arm. Other than it still being a bit sore, she could move it freely. "Mr. Monroe, you’ve got so impressive skills, have you trained?"
Jasper Monroe adjusted his glasses, "Just so routine training."
The so-called routine training started when he was four years old, involving four hours a day of high-intensity rigorous training with a martial arts master, focusing on basic skills and finally learning lethal moves intended to defeat an opponent in one strike.
Growing up, Jasper Monroe had survived no fewer than ten assassination attempts. Whenever the assailant got close, he had to escape and eliminate obstacles in the shortest ti possible.
Tonight, Daisy Bell truly got lucky.
But looking at Daisy Bell’s seemingly shrewd and glamorous face, which actually carried a hint of silliness, Jasper Monroe decided not to let her know that if her voice had been delayed by even a second, she’d almost been finished.
Jasper Monroe shifted the topic, "Weren’t you saying you’d treat to the best delicacies in Aris? Where is it?"
He scanned the surroundings of the dingy and dim small box. There wasn’t a store or even a soul in sight.
Daisy Bell beckoned to him mysteriously, "Just follow ."
She put on sunglasses, leading the way, almost bumping her head into a wall, but was swiftly pulled back by Jasper Monroe.
He sighed slightly, "Ms. Bell, aside from , there should be no other beings here who can recognize you. You might as well take off the sunglasses."
Daisy Bell corrected him, "You don’t understand, Mr. Monroe, paparazzi are elusive. But I’m sensitive to caras, so if I detect anything suspicious later, we split and run!"
Jasper Monroe: "..."
He regretted agreeing to join her for a late-night snack.
Jasper Monroe extended his long arm, pulled Daisy Bell back, and simply took off her sunglasses.
"I suspect no paparazzi would dare photograph , or anyone with ."
Daisy Bell blinked, staring at Jasper Monroe’s cold, high-profile face, slowly realizing that she was with Jasper Monroe, not so top-tier celebrity.
Celebrities are for entertainnt; no matter how big they are, they dare not offend the dia.
But Jasper Monroe is different; he’s a pure capitalist.
Daisy Bell adjusted her hair and gracefully removed her sunglasses, "Let’s go, Mr. Monroe."
She led Jasper Monroe into an unassuming residential building, up to the end of the third-floor corridor, before pulling out an invitation to open the door.
"This place needs a one-month advance reservation, and it only serves one table of guests per day."
Jasper Monroe raised an eyebrow, finding it curious, "So, you planned a month in advance to invite ?"
Daisy Bell silently rolled her eyes.
Geez, you’re quite self-absorbed, aren’t you?
Of course, she booked it intending to dine with her Baby Tanya!
However, Tanya Sinclair sent Daisy Bell a ssage in advance, saying she’d be on a business trip for so secret work and wouldn’t be back for quite a while.
If the reservation expired, it would be wasted, and that’s when Daisy Bell thought of Jasper Monroe...
But she definitely couldn’t say that aloud.
Daisy Bell held onto her actor’s self-discipline, turned back to Jasper Monroe with a sincere smile, "Of course, Mr. Monroe! It took a month to muster the courage to invite you."
"Really?" Jasper Monroe smirked slightly, calmly debunking, "But why do I recall that after your debt was cleared, you deleted outright?"
Daisy Bell feigned a smile, "...I didn’t realize you were my debtor, the mont I knew, I added you back right away!"
"I see." Jasper Monroe’s eyes glimred with amusent.
Daisy Bell, feeling guilty, swiped the door open, imdiately eagerly holding the door for Jasper Monroe to go in first.
Daisy Bell: "Please, Mr. Monroe."
Jasper Monroe glanced at her; behind the spectacles, his usually astute and sharp eyes carried a hint of amusent as he stepped inside.
Inside, it was a world of its own, elegantly decorated.
The owner ca out to greet them, roughly a man in his fifties, chubby and kindly, smiling like an old acquaintance upon seeing Daisy Bell, "Ms. Bell, long ti no see."
"It’s been a while, Boss Warner."
Boss Warner’s gaze landed on Jasper Monroe, chuckling suggestively, "First ti seeing you bring a boyfriend to dinner."
Daisy Bell promptly clarified, "He’s not my boyfriend, Boss. I could never be so lucky to find soone that good! This is my boss, Mr. Monroe. Handso, wealthy, and talented!"
Her flattery ca unbidden, amusing Jasper Monroe.
He nodded slightly towards Boss Warner, as if greeting him.
Boss Warner exaggeratedly smacked his lips, "Oh, so he’s the big boss. Definitely looks like soone who makes big bucks from big business. Apologies, Mr. Monroe, my mouth! Please don’t mind. Co in, have a seat, I’ll prepare the dishes."
Daisy Bell led Jasper Monroe inside to sit down.
Indeed, there was only one table, by the window, though it was obstructed by a bamboo blind.
Jasper Monroe, recalling the "view" on the way there, thought it necessary to keep it covered to enjoy the al.
However, Daisy Bell strode over and raised the blind without hesitation, turning excitedly to beckon Jasper Monroe.
"Mr. Monroe, co see!"
Jasper Monroe paused slightly, the moonlight flooding through the window, casting onto Daisy Bell’s face. Though the moonlight felt cool, paired with her gift-revealing smile, it instantly brightened.
Jasper Monroe returned his gaze and walked over, sowhat surprised by the view outside the window.
The window overlook was actually along the river, with an open view. Moonlight’s silver glow shimred on the surface, water sparkling, distant mountains resembling ink paintings laid out in the night.
"Beautiful, right? This place boasts the best view for miles."
"Indeed." Jasper Monroe critiqued.
Jasper Monroe’s face was void of amazent, calr than the quiet mountains outside the window.
Daisy Bell gazed at the scenery outside, smiling nostalgically, "When I was little, my favorite thing was to lie here, watching the moon..."
Jasper Monroe caught the key phrase, "When you were little?"
