Tanya took a hot shower, lay on the bed, and closed her eyes. Her body was exhausted, but her mind was chaotic, and she couldn’t fall asleep.

She didn’t know how long it took, but sleep finally crept in. Half-asleep, half-awake, she felt the bed behind her dip. Before she could open her eyes, she was pulled into Declan Pierce’s embrace from behind.

His body temperature was on the cooler side, and Tanya frowned slightly, instinctively reaching out to check his pulse.

Declan, with his head nestled against her neck, chuckled helplessly, "Doctor Sinclair, is your professional instinct kicking in again?"

Tanya wasn’t in the mood to joke with him. She seriously took his pulse, confird that his condition hadn’t worsened, and finally felt a bit relieved.

She turned around, facing Declan directly, cupping his face with seriousness, "You must take good care of yourself. I’ll find the dicine to heal you. I will, for sure!"

The last sentence was uttered with unusual resolve. Declan knew she wasn’t saying it for him to hear, but for herself.

Declan’s expression was unusually gentle as he said, "Of course, the princess can achieve anything."

Tanya laughed, "Declan, I think if I said the sun rose from the west, you’d agree."

He closed his eyes with a lazy smile, pulling her deeper into his embrace.

"Whatever the princess says is right."

He wasn’t just coaxing her; he genuinely thought and acted that way.

Tanya closed her eyes, the smile on her lips deepening, "Who won between you and Caden?"

Declan idly stroked the soft skin on her neck, replying lazily, "We were evenly matched."

Tanya said, "That’s not bad. Caden is quite formidable. Being evenly matched with him is comndable."

Declan laughed, "How do you know I didn’t let him win?"

She half-opened her eyes, "Other than , you wouldn’t go easy on anyone."

Declan paused for a mont, then laughed so hard his chest vibrated slightly.

Tanya, not usually thick-skinned, was teased by him into a laugh that she couldn’t hold back, raising her hand to punch him softly.

"Declan!" A slightly coquettish tone that could lt anyone’s heart.

No one outside ever sees this playful side of Tanya.

Declan’s laughter deepened, and he naturally held her hand close to his chest, almost pressed to his heartbeat.

"Yes, the princess is right. I’m not much of a gentleman. Except for you, I wouldn’t let anyone else have their way." Declan gently patted her back with his other hand, "Sleep now. You’ve had a few tough days."

Tanya snuggled into his embrace. After a long ti, she listened to the steady and slow heartbeat in his chest and his even breathing.

She softly called his na, "Declan?"

There was no response; he was probably asleep.

Tanya whispered, "I want you to live a long life, to spend our lives well together."

Where she couldn’t see, Declan slowly opened his eyes. In his pitch-black pupils, not a single ray of light penetrated...

When Tanya woke up the next day, Declan was no longer in bed.

She got up and through the open balcony door, saw Declan’s back as he talked on the phone outside.

Tanya walked over slowly. At the door, she heard Declan’s slightly helpless voice gently coaxing, "Wynn, be good..."

Tanya paused slightly.

Wynn... It sounded like a girl’s na.

Suddenly, she recalled a woman who had appeared by Declan’s side before – Wynn Winslow.

The Shipping Magnate’s daughter returned to the country with Declan, and they were even photographed together.

She had t Wynn.

A slightly spoiled and willful girl, a real-life doll.

Although Declan always called her "princess," in the worldly sense, Wynn was the real princess...

Declan certainly had business dealings with The Shipping Magnate, and coaxing Wynn a little was understandable.

Thinking this, Tanya silently turned around and left.

At the sa ti she turned her back, Declan’s slightly tense shoulder blades on the balcony gradually relaxed...

When Tanya ca out after freshening up, Declan was still on the balcony on the phone. She didn’t disturb him and went to the dining room downstairs.

Caden was already sitting obediently at the table, using his little phone to send a voice ssage to Joy. The little one’s face was slightly serious as he chatted about sothing.

"Madam." Aunt Tawny turned at Tanya’s presence, beaming, "Mr. Pierce is so thoughtful. Fresh fruits, vegetables, and at were delivered early this morning. It’s all ready to go in the fridge, making it easy to prepare. I’ve made sandwiches; would you like one, or should I make sothing else?"

Tanya replied, "Sandwiches are fine. Thank you, Aunt Tawny."

Aunt Tawny nodded, "Alright. And Mr. Pierce, he..."

Before Aunt Tawny could finish, Declan’s tall figure walked in.

"I have so matters to attend to. I won’t be eating at ho." Declan glanced at Caden, "Caden, I’ll play chess with you next ti."

Caden responded, "Goodbye, Uncle Pierce."

Declan took the opportunity to give Tanya a quick kiss on the forehead, "I’m heading out now."

Tanya pursed her lips slightly, words almost spilling out, "Declan..."

"Hmm?" Declan turned, waiting for what she had to say next.

Tanya looked at his excessively handso yet pale face and decided not to say anything. Instead, she asked him to wait a mont. Tanya went upstairs and returned with a scarf.

Gray cashre, very soft to touch.

She helped Declan put it on.

"It’ll snow today. It’s cold outside. Don’t catch a cold."

Declan cooperatively lowered his head, letting her wrap the scarf around his neck.

"I’m off."

He reached out as if to touch her face but hesitated, feeling the chill on his fingers, and restrained himself.

Declan turned and headed out.

Janne Hayes was already waiting by the car outside. Declan got in the car, and through the car window, he saw Tanya’s figure follow outside.

The one-way glass on the car window ant she couldn’t see inside.

Declan stared for a long while, then slowly said, "Drive."

He touched the scarf on his neck; it was very warm...

Tanya watched as Declan’s car pulled away, a sudden tightness gripping her chest for so unknown reason.

"Madam." Aunt Tawny approached with concern, "Don’t stand in the wind like this. Mr. Pierce will be back as soon as he’s done."

Tanya turned, eting Aunt Tawny’s teasing eyes, realizing she had misunderstood her reluctance to part...

Tanya smiled and didn’t explain.

Even if she wanted to, she wouldn’t know where to start.

Nothing seed amiss, yet she inexplicably felt a sense of unease. Always had a vague feeling that sothing was about to happen...

"Mom!" Suddenly, Caden jumped down from his chair, running to Tanya’s side with so alarm, "Mom, Joy said Auntie Yvonne ran away from ho again! She went to a very dangerous place to find Uncle Kendall! Grandma was so worried she fainted at ho!"

Tanya frowned upon hearing this.

She had heard from Old Master Kendall last ti that Felix Kendall hadn’t retreated with the troops and was now missing!

Yvonne Hawthorne running around at this critical ti would undoubtedly cause trouble!

"Mom, will Auntie get into trouble?" Caden asked with concern.

Tanya squatted down to comfort her son, "Don’t worry. Felix Kendall is on a secret mission. Even if Yvonne tries to find him, she might not succeed. She might just be out for a while and return on her own. After all, she’s an adult, and your dad and the others will find her."

Caden nodded but still seed slightly worried.

On the way to school, he was buried in his computer, obviously trying to do sothing to quickly locate Yvonne.

When they arrived at the school, they happened to see Vincent Hawthorne bringing Joy.

Vincent got out of the car and saw Tanya’s car, leading Joy over.

Tanya got out with Caden, exchanging a glance with Vincent. Not wanting to create a scene in front of the children, Tanya acknowledged Vincent with a slight nod.

Vincent, a bit taken aback, wanted to respond when Tanya had already averted her gaze.

His eyes dimd a bit, but Caden stepped forward, "Dad, have you sent soone to find Auntie? I already found Auntie’s flight details and sent them to your email..."

"My people have already checked all that. I’ve also arranged for soone to find her, don’t worry," Vincent assured, "Auntie will return safely soon."

With his father’s promise, Caden relaxed a little.

"Caden, go in with your sister. It’s almost ti for class; don’t be late," Tanya gently urged.

Caden took Joy’s hand, and they headed into the school.

Tanya was about to leave, opening the car door, when Vincent’s voice sounded behind her.

"Tanya..."
